What do you think DB meant by this?

These were introduced in 1.2...they where even shown in the Wings trailer.

I've always wondered where the source for these are...no, I'm not talking about the signal sources where you might find them among a wreck. I'm talking about the actual source where they originally came from. ;)

Hmm...

I'm 9000LY out, and will certainly be keeping a closer eye on things as I go out and come back ;)

Of course his wording is VERY vague and could mean almost anything. Doesn't have to be Thargoids (yet). Could be some other kind of easter egg.

Whatever it is, it's almost certainly not static (that is, a specific system). It would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, unless there was an obvious place to look (near Polaris?)

If it was static and in a non-obvious spot, it would have to be something spread out over many systems so there was at least a chance of finding one. So the more obvious answer is something that can pop up anywhere. unidentifiied signal source.

Derelict space wrecks, perhaps?

He also didn't say it was accessible to players yet. ;) We know there are a lot of odd permit systems...

notice he also said "They" not "it" has been their since wings (1.2) so there are more than one, maybe a wing of something etc or more than one instance of the same thing etc in different locations.

He didn't say "they".

He said "there already are" (other things than celestial bodies)

In none of his replies to those questions did he specifically refer to entities.

Yep, that is true.

But do we think he'd jest so bluntly (to put it kind) about it, not in one, but two replies ?

I think he might, especially if they are planning to open them up soon.

Alien Artefacts. ;)

Ya'll explorers with your fancy fuel scoops and fearlessnesses are going to be the first to get Thargoided and when the empty husks of your ships start showing up in place of missing space stations on my rares route I'm going to s*** a brick, then promptly eject it from the cargo hold as a warning for others that the threat of chili'ed eggs and toast for breakfast is real.

I started seeing stations in "green" and I thought that meant the station was a re-spawned reinforcement, meaning it had been destroyed by something. The first thought that came to mind was Thargoids and the expression that crossed my face as I hurtled towards the docking bay was one of uncertainty for sure. This is how I envisioned Thargoids would be implemented, subtle sneaky and very scary. I actually pulled up the navigation map to target Lave thinking, "Guys, I know you're up there interdicting and goofing off but... something ain't right and there's not enough boost in these capacitors to pull a u-turn fast enough after what I just saw."

It's coming, they're coming... whoever they are, let us not be fooled by David. We are but hamsters in his wheel packing our cheeks full of sunflower seeds by the ton. I just hope the patch that brings foreign beings remains un-noted and unannounced during implementation, it would produce a rather immersive effect. :D

I think the unkown artifacts can be found in some permit system with salvage convoys that have been added in 1.2

IIRC these are : Witch's Reach, LFT 509. No stations in there so impossible to know where to get the permit

Whats the sitrep on galaxy exploration? Whats the current percentage explored? I should imagine its quite high by now

LOL!
Like .0001%

My favorite scary scenario would be some explorer visits a system and brings back something like ants. Not big H. R. Geiger-esque xenomorphs. Just little wee bitty ants. Only, they reproduce really fast, are nearly indestructible, and love to eat polyvinylchloride.
