What's the dumbest way you've destroyed your ship?

I used to run my power plant a little hot, left not enough room to run my lifesupport with my hardpoints deployed -combat sounded great in the vacuum tho...

However, as you've already probably guessed, I ran out oxygen. Funny thing is, I just exploded all of a sudden. No chocking, or audible coffing. I did exactly the same again immediately after until I realised what was happening

I splatted my first Asp into an Anaconda NPC because I dedided to change my weapon groups during a fight... me... dumb.. yeah...

na better being a lazy git in a station thought id get to my pad at the back of the station quicker.

Takes off landing gear, boosts, deploys landing gear.

Explodes off the back of the station.

Han Solo manouver in asteroid field. Was about to turn head over an roid with my clipper. Bad thing about roid field is there are more than one roid inside .rofl. So i hit with afterburner on the dark side of one rock. Nice explosion... but it was cool :)

Flying out the station in my first ever sidey to be knocked into the void by a boosting NPC T9 heading downwards across the docking zone, luckily the rebuy was 0 as I had just launched for the very first time :/

After some days in a type 6, I finally went back into my Cobra. I lift off the landing platform inside the station and raised speed, like in the type 6...but of course my A-graded Cobra was MUCH faster :D I totally failed to get the control over the ship and crashed about 2 metres next to the station exit into the wall...I sat still for about 2 minutes and did not know if to laugh or to cry :D

lol.. yeah I too have come a cropper flying backwards in the asteroid field. I lost a clipper recently - 1.8m cr insurance bill. it seemed like a good idea at the time but I just under estimated my velocity and the location of the nearest rock.

We need some rear view cameras :)

I've boosted into things sure. Who hasn't? Running out of fuel 3 Ly from a scoop able star and being forced to self destruct. I had so many chances to notice...

That was awful. Emperor forbid you find yourself in a similar situation. Just dive into a sun.

I have a button on the throttle mapped to toggle Forward/Reverse thrust. Late at night, I was tired and tried to make a final trading run. When I was undocking inside the station, I noticed that I had left the Forward/Reverse thrust in reverse from when I docked because I could see that I was slowly backing up. So, I pressed when I thought was the Forward/Reverse button but it was actually <yeah, you guessed it> THE STUPID BOOST BUTTON. They're right next to each other. I boosted into the lower edge of the letterbox. Between cargo and rebuy, I lost 1.5M cr.

Add me to the list of asteroid collisions... Heading out to cash in about 1m credits in bounties. It was dark, what can I say. :D

Thought I'd mastered this manoeuvre - toggling flight assist to drift round and line up with the docking slot.

I don't have a recording of the incident itself, but I was getting cocky, flung the nose up so I was drifting at 90 degrees to my flight path, waiting for the rim of the docking circle to whizz past so I could toggle FA off - and KABOOM! I'd misjudged it and slammed underside-first into the side of the docking ring.

Bought a brand new Imperial Clipper. First flight out, I got stuck in the mailslot trying to leave (sandwiched by a Type-9) and the station opened fire on me and blew me up.

I had insurance but, still, it was pretty ignominious.

I cost myself nearly 1 million credits when I agreed to face plant my Type 7 into the side of a station if people donated money to my charity drive. They donated, I went boom.

100-200k in bounties in my 600k insurance vulture. I am about to dock. Someone starts advertising "can someone please cut shields so I can test these dumb fires?" What do you think I do? I turn silent running on/off thinking either he is joking or I can make it/dodge any dumb fires fired my way, well I start lining up with the mail slot and... "Hull integrity compromised, eject, eject, eject... BOOM. Well, I can't blame anyone but myself for that one, that was just... stupid.

I was doing bounty hunting in a vulture at a RES at the night side of the planet thinking it'll be ok as long as I avoid asteroids with my radar. I see laser fire and rush towards it without thinking and collided with an asteroid. 1m bounty and 800k for insurance gone.
