02/04/3301 - Wolf-Rayet

After realizing my wing man wouldn't be on until late afternoon, i ventured out to the statue of liberty nebula, my wing man's goal.

The Nebula, although pretty, had little to offer.
I went ahead to search for Non-Sequence stars, Wolf-Rayet stars and White Dwarfs.
After panning around the galaxy map i found a Wolf-Rayet star some 400 LY under the nebula.
I was pretty sure it was claimed as it was not procedurally generated, but went there anyway for the journey.

(Ringed Brown dwarf encountered on the trip there)

Upon entering the system, i jumped out of supercruise to real-space to take a shot of the star, it was very nice.

So i opened the system map with little expectations, but to my surprise,
it was undiscovered!

I imminently started heading back home after scanning the Wolf-Rayet star and the 3 other stars in the system.

My journey was boring and not efficient by my standards, but i did manage to find an Earth-Like world.

When i got back i went to Anotchadiae to sell my data to the Chapter of Isinor.
It did not get me allied with them, but it did put me to friendly with them and earned me the rank of Ranger.

Summary total (today and yesterday) ;

LY Traveled ; ~12000LY
Systems visited ; ~350
Wolf-Rayet stars discovered ; 1
Earth likes discovered ; 1
Profit ; ~4.000.000 cr

I won't be exploring today, as i am off to help the Alliance in Leesti.
Fly safe commanders!

Hey again commanders!
After some days off, gaining rank of master, permits to Isinor and Sirius, i finally went back to exploration with one goal ;

08-09/04/3301 - Journey to Saggitarius

There is the one goal for explorers, which proves you have patience and absoloutley no frie- i mean courage ;
Saggitarius A* - The Supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy.

I set off with my newly upgraded anaconda (got that B7 fuel scoop, 1068/s)

Sadly i'm not really sure what to write and do further on this post (I am really tired)
So here's just some nice pictures from the trip.

Sorry for the short post, will try to do better tommorow.

Ly traveled ; 9000

Good to see you're back out there!
That B7 scoop is a luxury indeed, swooping by the star at full speed on the way to the next star is enough to stay topped up.
Nice pictures. That's the thing I miss out here on the edge, not a Nebula in sight for at least 15k ly.

10/04/3301 - Entering Core areas

My journey brings me closer to Sagittarius A*, i have yet again utilized black holes and wolf-rayet stars this time as waypoints on my quest towards the core.

The tactic has been usefull and i have first discovered 2 black holes with it today ;

I also encountered a few binary death traps on my quest ;

My waypoints were wolf-rayets and black holes, so i did first discover 3-4 Wolf-Rayet stars.

Summary

LY Traveled today ; 5000LY
LY Traveled on trip total ; 14000LY

I am approaching the core with constant speed, the journey to Sagittarius is going better than ever before.

Fly safe explorers!

11-15/04/3301 - Sagittarius A*

My journey to Sagittarius A*, started off going very good in the core areas, but quickly became worse.
My first issue, was not an issue with my skill or the difficulty of the galactic core, but the power of my computer's wifi.
The issue, left me one day behind and pushed my arrival back to Tuesday.

The second issue, which i encountered 5500LY from Sagittarius, was the route planner.
The density of the stars made even a supercomputer a little tired, and plotting routes would crash the system.
This issue, pushed my arrival even further back to Wednesday.

Nevertheless, i still reached Sagittarius and saw exciting things on the way.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you remember the initial post in this thread, you will know of the so called Planetary Nebulas which is procedurally generated throughout the galaxy.

Basically they are tiny nebulas, containing a single neutron star, which once was a huge star and then went boom, and there you have the nebula and the neutron star.

Now if you have read the inital post, you will also remember that the nebula i went to was already claimed.
Well, i found one again, and this time... IT WAS NOT CLAIMED!

(Nebula from ~1.5-3 LYs away)

(Nebula from inside)

I may soon be able to join the ranks of people who have discovered an entire nebula! :cool:

After the Nebula, i rushed for Sagittarius A*, and by late Wednesday, i could finally join the ranks of the Sagittarius A* visitors!

As stated in my Sagittarius A* visitors list entry, my life is now complete.. well not really, but more complete!
I wonder what i will do now, if i will head home, head out of the core and explore more, or not head out of the core or whatever, who knows?
Only the future will show...

15-25/04/3301 - Back home

After visiting Sagittarius A*, i decided that it was time to head homewards.
To try to avoid the route planner issue, i traveled 1500LY upwards, and went little by little downwards as i exited the core.

On my way up, i found a pretty earthlike ;

Further out on the core i found another earthlike ;

Now sorry to bomb you with earthlikes, but this one... just take a look ;

Holy! That is an earthlike around a neutron star!
How is that planet alive with such a little sun to lit it up?!

I mean, it could be possible, the universe is indeed infinite..

The planet (You can barely see the neutron star it orbits)

Well anyways, on my way home i surveyed a whole lot of neutron stars, discovered alot of earthlike until i was 8000LY away from Alioth, and just decided i was going home.

Arriving home at the 25th of April, i first flew my Anaconda to Kuntae, a federal High-tec system i had spent alot of time in before, and knew would have the gear i needed.

I bought myself a B6 shield generator, along with a powerplant to support it.

Then i started the selling process.

I first flew to Djaujang to get a Jotun permit.

Then i flew to Tau Ceti to get a Van Maanen's star permit.

Then i flew to HIP 18609, to get my Peregrina permit.

Lastly i flew to LHS 3531, but did not succeed in getting the permit, as i ran out of exploration data.

Summary ;

TRAVELED ; ~60000 ly
SYSTEMS VISITED ; ~2000
EARTHLIKES DISCOVERED ; 5
BLACK HOLES DISCOVERED ; 6
WOLF RAYET STARS DISCOVERED ; 4
CARBON STARS DISCOVERED ; 4
NEUTRON STARS DISCOVERED ; ALOT
PLANETARY NEBULAS DISCOVERED ; 1 (yey)
WHITE DWARFS DISCOVERED ; 0 ;(
SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLES SURVEYED ; 1
PROFIT ; ~23000000CR

-------------

The journey to Sagittarius A* was long and an amazing experience for me.
Seeing the stars, learning the lessons, it was truly awe-inspiring.

Would i do it again? No, not like it isn't a significant and awesome journey, but i have already done it once, and i want to try new things.

Exploration is underrated, for all of you who think all systems look the same, i have visited 4600 of them and have yet not experienced that.

Elite is alot about what you think of it, if you think all systems are the same, they become the same, if you don't, all systems will have their unique look, story, soul and you will have a much better time playing.

As of right now, i'm 40% the way to ELITE, i am not sure on how long it is until i will explore again, but i know i will do it, soon™

Fly safe commanders, and help expand the frontier by exploring :)
