FNS Damocles Battlecruiser....WOW

By far the Farragut class is way better looking than the Majestic. One looks like a dagger the other well... pregnant whale.

I LOVED the wolf, got more kills in that in the old old days than almost anything else. I doubt I'll go back as well but I still have my accounts and epeen stuff - but the community totally changed and made it go from amazing to meh.

Yeah no doubt, loved the Hurricane and Wolf myself - definitely my two favorite ships... and yeah, most of the EVE community is pretty toxic these days.

Edit: Still have my account active as well, skill queue online, after all... haha!

For the most part I really enjoy Elite's community. I think it has to do with it being a sequel to a game that came out in 1984 and old school gamers being mostly friendly.

It's a shame a really vocal subset of the community is able to have as much negative impact as it has, though.

Yeah, 90's kid myself, definitely prefer to game with the mature crowd - almost always more reasonable & polite, especially in PVP.

What sort of negative impacts? Seems to me that a lot of folks play Solo or Mobius due to some people "griefing", when it's just PVP... although, some of the griefing claims do seem to be warranted. Appreciate the reply in advance, still new and trying to learn about the game.

Not trying to take the thread off topic x_x, and sorry for the double post, couldn't figure out how to reply to both posts in response to mine, as they were on different pages.

I think the recurring arguments on the forums between those who have differing ideas on what the game should be, which too frequently devolve into insults and angry rhetoric are the largest negative impact.

As with most cases where two extreme views are presented, reality is somewhere in between.

I see, I usually lurk the forums at work, and haven't really seemed to notice too much angry rhetoric. I don't doubt it happens though, I've seen that sort of thing all the time on other forums for other games that are still heavily under development, and/or push out content often. It's a shame, really. We should all just enjoy the game! :)

Edit: Couldn't agree more with the "reality is somewhere in between" statement, by the way.

I do wonder whether that large gap in the hull would make the fore section less damage resistant. Apart from that it looks like quite a practical design for a space faring warship, no offset center of thrust to center of mass and quite a sturdy looking shape, nothing much flimsy sticking out of it.

If the control center is located within the hull and not on a vulnerable surface location, this would make it even more damage tolerant.

As mentioned, I'm referring to griefers/very aggressive whiners. The former drives a lot of interesting people into Solo, robbing Open players of the chance to encounter those people. The latter intentionally derails and destroys discussion about anything they don't want discussed, frequently by becoming so hostile by themselves a moderator considers the entire thread a lost cause and locks it. Locked threads constitute a victory condition for those people. Same mindset for both of them, just different avenues of expression.

A small, vocal minority doing lots of damage.

Back on topic... The first Majestic I saw actually turned me off from the Empire. The second one made me a fanatic. They're an acquired taste.

Either variety of cap ship is just a massive kill stealing grief-fest which renders the warzone it's in largely pointless, so argue away as you will- they both suck :)

Their just doing their part to rid the universe of the Sci-Fi stereotype that states fighters dominate space battles. :D

After I read the Lost Fleet series, I can never get the common Sci-Fi idea that warships in space are "Slow", you have to be going several km/s to orbit most celestial objects anyway so there's not really any such thing as "slow" in space.

In space its mostly about a ship's TWR (Thrust to Weight Ratio), there's no drag to get in the way, not on any noticeable level anyway. Sure large warships are heavy, but they also have large propulsion units to counteract their mass, which should result in decent rates of acceleration for warships.
