Ok, I did contact support, after posting, and all those extra's like the book, map etc. Alpha backers DO NOT get.

Little peeved tbh, £200 and we don't even get the novel. They said the novel can be brought in the store, but I don't even see it listed to buy.

That's not to say I still love the game, and looking forward to the future, but it was an expensive one to be a part of.

Little trivial I guess but I ended up sending in a ticket to ask support directly and they have already replied ( hats off to support , great job ).

As a £200 Alpha backer we get....

Automatic early access to all the development stages
A lifetime 50% discount on in-game ship insurance
Automatic access to all major downloadable expansion packs as they are released
A digital download Elite: Dangerous
Your very own Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location in-game
Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs
A ‘day one’ ship decal
A digital players guide
A digital concept art book (yet to be released)

and as I was not told any different The ringtones , wallpapers , soundset and screensavers

What we dont get is what others are saying are part of the Merc edition ...

No sound track
No Digital story
and No Map

If people did in fact get those extras in a beta merc pack I have to say I feel a little short changed considering the price difference but hey ho I guess thats how the cookie crumbles.

That is about the same as the premium beta backers content

Wasn't the only ship reward in the Mercenary Edition the "Freagle"?

Yes. The poster is confusing Beta backers with the Mercenary Edition since Beta Backers also got everything that the Mercenary Edition pre-orders did. Mercenary pre-order alone does not give you access to the five ships (whatever they may be).

Found it from Newsletter 49
Being a Beta backer is the only way you will be able to play Elite: Dangerous until 16th December. In addition to that and the other existing Beta benefits such as Mercenary Edition and automatic permit to visit Sol, today we are also announcing:
25% off in-game ship insurance for life to all our Beta backers
free access to one of the 5 new ships when it’s released!
as a ‘thank you’ for all their help.

Yep. This. It also said it on the store page for Merc edition (with beta access, I've been around in-game since about the month before beta 2 started). It's entirely possible that they mean the other 5 ships on top of the original 25 which were already announced. Which is fair enough, we don't have all of those ships in the game yet.

News on the beta "free access to one of the 5 new ships" is what I am getting impatient about.

People saying it is the freagle are wrong. That is part of the mercenary edition "pre order" and not the beta perk like the 25% insurance.

There has been some debate on what the " Free access" means and the question was asked previously and answered.

QFT
It means that you won't have to pay in-game credits for them, like the free Eagle in the mercenary edition.

How can one determine if s/he is getting the 25% discount?

I can wait for additional ships, I just hope with the good sales numbers FD can increase the pace of production.

Would really like to hear news on the Digital Art book next.

What about those mysterious ships that we were supposed to get with merc order? And I don't mean eagle.

You could use the http://www.edshipyard.com/ buy a sidey at some station that offers no special discounts (example don't go to the shinrarta dezhri as it gives a discount on ships and parts and this isn't taken into account in the shipyard) and compare the rebuy cost.

I am not in game right now ( so can't verify for accuracy) but from what the shipyard shows me a standard sidewinder bought at normal cost has a rebuy cost of 1600 creds whereas with the 25% off beta insurance it is 1200 creds and for the 50% alpha insurance it is 800 creds.

The shipyard gives you the option for normal, beta or alpha insurance.

Oh btw you can see your ship rebuy cost of the current ship your using in the system panal when in game.
