Newcomer / Intro About that war in QUIVIRA...

Well me and my Viper made the 150 ly trek to the front line, and goodness what a grind for that global bonus to mean anything substantial. Wondering if the trip was really worth the effort... Anaconda's reward 36k as the top dog kill. I can stay in the field of course only until my ammo holds out and thus far my best run has netted me 180k. Considering all the higher level ships out there mopping up more kills in the same time frame I can do what little I do, was it really a good choice to make the trek? That is, on a RES run, I can easily do around 600k+, if bigger ships spawn.

Anyway, I don't think I'll really be able to cash in on a global bonus unless I grid 24-7.

Thoughts?

With so many sheeple players thinking the Empire is "edgy" and "cool", I fear for Quivira's future.

Is the community goal available in solo?

If so, I'm willing to bet that many of the top ranking players are shooting bots in their own instance - there's no competition for kills.

Goodness no. It's totally not worth a long journey for local civil war CG if you're wanting to make money. Bounty Farming will net you much more per hour.

As far as the choice to support the Empire, I'd like to take this opportunity to voice my reasons for aligning with it. (sorry for the OT commentary....OK, not really sorry..but anyway...)

When I bought ED a month ago, I had no idea of the lore of the game and none of the factions meant anything at all to me. So I started reading about each to figure out if I personally identified with any of them. Roughly 60 seconds later I knew it was Empire for me. Here's why:

I'm a huge fan of freedom and small government. Please don't confuse "small government" with "weak military strength". I mean a government that doesn't try to run every facet of my life, try to be my nanny, or try to "encourage" a lifestyle with the threat of imprisonment. I'm also a very big fan of personal accountability and responsibility and not relying on my government to bail me out of financial ruin because I can't manage my finances and try to live beyond my means. (if you're wondering..I am American...shocking, I know).
This is what I perceive the Empire to be about. As far as the word "Empire" I think too many people mentally associate it with evil. Same goes for dictatorships. Dictatorships can be wonderful things if the dictator in question has the good of the people as a high priority. But as they say, power corrupts and absolute... well, you know the rest.

Yes - I'm working in solo.

But the point I think that I am making is that, regardless of solo/open, the tally of credits earned determines your global bonus rank.
So I'm competing with their credits earned vs. mine earned, I think.

Certainly does feel like , without a ship that can make a dent in the global bonus, does feel like I wasted my time here. I think my bonus is around 30k right now and I'd REALLY need to grind to get it higher.

Well was thinking about building up Empire rep anyway so since I'm here...

Right....the competition is for the amount of war bonds you turn in compared to those turned in by the other players. This is regardless of what game mode those credits were earned in. Playing in open means you'll be competing directly with (and against...and yes there are gankers) other players for kills in your instance of the combat zone as well as for the leaderboard percentile when you turn in. You'd have to be fairly hard-core to participate in the CG only in open.

EDIT: Yeah...in a Viper...you're going to have to work your tail off to amass enough credits to get into the higher percentiles and get the bigger bonus.

btw noticed something this blurb about FORFEIT... If the invasion is repelled, those working for the Empire don't get their bonus?
Is the same true if the Empire is successful? Those working for Quivira lose their bonus?

(Sorrty about the double image - am trying to delete the larger but running into issues.)

I'm not sure, but I suspect that if Patreus (he is not the Empire) is successful, he will have the local population rounded up and forced into slavery PDQ, and there won't be anyone to pay the rewards.

Well flazer those bonuses actually rises as the level of tiers are met so even if you don't reach top 5% you'll still get a desent bonus. However you will proberly easiely make more credit/hour at a RES but you will also have fewer kills whitch helps in order for you to reach "Elite" rank in combat, and that at least for me is the primary reason for joining CG doing kills in WZ's... You will proberly also do better in WZ once yyou get yourself a nice vulture as they can kill pythons and 'condas much faster than your viper due to its Large weapons mount....

I just started this CG in Quivira tonight, and spend 4½ hours making combat bonds, earning just short of 3 mio credit and earnt top 15% so I hope to make around 10-15 mio credits with this CG just like I did earlier tonight in another CG in (forgot the system name but it was ca. 168 LY away from Quivira where I read about this CG mission)

Oh, it's OK. Under the Empire, it's the hardworking citizens of Quivira's fault. They obviously don't have enough personal responsibility. ;)

All political decisions have consequences. The question is whether it is concscionable to live with them. The Empire is a freedom-crushing parasite, comparable in its discourse to the Cordyceps fungus, and in its behaviour to a tumor.

Galactic politics aside, OP, you're going to need a Vulture to really make a dent. You can outfit one pretty cheaply for solo CZ work - less than 10mcr should put together a ship that does the job, although you'll need double that for a top-spec vessel - but you'll have to keep your wits about you in case you need to leg it. Ships fly in wings in CZs too, and you'll find yourself under attack from three or more vessels if you make yourself too much of a threat (which is inevitable given how OP the Vulture is.)

The Empire is winning. I am thinking of moving on from the system and heading back to my home base. :(

Well, I can raise just over 13 mil, and per the war, says I'm sitting in the top 40% (for now) and if that goes well, I can nab 2.5 mil + 75 k, if I'm reading the screenshot right AND if I can stay in that bracket.

btw, I've reach ALLIED with PEOPLE'S QUIVIRA FOR EQUALITY...
Since the Independents don't have a governing structure like the Feds or the Empire, this really doesn't mean much?

That is, I'm not ALLIED with every Independent faction now?

Yes, you're allied with the single independent system. You can, However, bask in the warm glow that comes from doing the right thing and resisting the Imperial parasites.

dont bother ,,, ive been trying to earn a tidy sum but all that happens is wings of cmdrs join the other side looking for a fight... just turns into a PvP mess.......

I second that, my Viper vs a wing of live pilot capital ships...I didn't last long. After my third death I got bored. I'm no slouch in a battle but I just kept getting pounced on by these 3 even when I tried just engaging NPC's. With so many NPC ships in the battle and only a few live players fighting to help Quivira we just became a target - doesn't make for a fun goal.

The other thing that annoyed me was the way ships kept glitching, especially when close to death - one minute its in your sites the next it zips round the back of you out of range and suddenly has shields up and hull restored...wth? The server connection is obviously under strain...reminds me of all those crappy games of COD when a laggy player would join.

........yep.......and what fun do 3 cmdrs in a wing get from attacking and killing 1 cmdr......?? i took on a Python cmdr....a fair fight ,,,i was doing well and out of know where mum and dad turn up to save babies bacon... :)

Oh well :( I bugged out of Quivira, headed back to Federation space...I've made 1.5 million in combat on my way back already and just hit Master level doing it :) Who needs community goals lol.

Well, after the war is over, I may 'empire' my way into their graces ;)

I think I need to start a thread seeking input for the ethical perks on which faction I ultimately support.
You know, which faction has the best toilet paper, best tooth paste, best raimen, you know, that sort of thing :)

As it should be.
