Pay for In-game time

I thought about paying for hours so you could play would help FD with some cashflow to make this game even more perfect as it is. What do you think?
Would you agree on this new feature?
I think this could be a wonderful thing for Elite D future.

I don't pay for subscription games - period; never have, never will. It makes me sick to think how much money people have sunk on games such as WoW.

You want more money - deliver more content. If I like it, I buy it. There is your cash flow.

We should demand a product then pay for what it's worth - NOT the other way around.

What if you could pay for an hour to fly a huge Thargoid warship right into Lave and give station-campers blown up ships and unimaginably horrific tentacle experiments?

Hahaha. No. Get out.

+rep

I'm ok with this. I have never stepped foot into a sub game, and never will.

If you just wrote them a check for a million bucks for nothing in return that would help their cash flow even more.

Nothing's preventing you from doing this now.

Post deleted, fell for it.

Troll meter went right off, after air canning the dust off the sensors.

Maybe Fd should make half a systems only for those paying people. Those systems could be filled with new content, becouse it would seems only fair as new things would be made only thanks for people who pay?

sorry but asking for free centent is a bad thing. You pay, you get new things.

I'm not trying to bag anyone of cause affront
However how about earning your ship through the game? appreciating what each and every ship can offer or just the ones you like
Elite to me is not about the biggest or fastest or the best armed.

its about the journey, like remember that time in beta sculptoris i was interdited by an anaconda in a little old underfitted hauler with 40t of gold in the hold?
had a amazingly memorable rp with the "pirate" dropped 2 tons of gold as agreed and got the hell outta there.
now you might not think that's a great experience but to me it made my month in elite.
Struggling along exploring with an old conda 18.9ly jump range, a useless refinery onboard because i forgot the mining lasers before i headed out almost 2 months ago has made my journey all the more memorable and fun

If they add in a "hourly/weekly/monthly" subsccription service the next logical step is to allow people to buy ships...which is so completely wrong its not funny
Why should anyone have an advantage because they have a larger wallet in a game meant for all? Designed for all?
No

I am firmly against this

I have no principal problem with subscription games (if you pay 20$/month on wow and spend an hour a day, that is still a better deal than most forms of entertainment), but I don't see it work here. Throw some DLC, which are already planned, at us if needed. If you personally want to go the extra mile, go get some skins or gift the game to friends.

This thread needs to be merged with all the other pay to play threads . Oh and that would be a big fat swollen no not a chance and bug off .

well no your dividing the player base into 2 unequal and unfair groups, plus the chances of you meeting another commander away from lave are astronomically small as it is. Why make that more and more unlikely? Plus the "paying" player base will dramatically change and effect the community goals and objectives, especially with powerplay in the works

No, youre wrong. Just look at star citizen and how much money they get from selling ships. I think this would be even better idea.
Companies need money to make games. You should be thrilled helping Elite D become a better game.

A major factor in my decision upon purchase of the game is whether or not this game goes by purchase to play, or subscription basis. If it has been the latter, I would have opted out.

If you want to support FD, by all means buy more and donate to friends.

Then by all means when star citizen comes out make your choice of games.
i doubt FD has any issues with funding after the kickstarters at the beginning and the current sales.
Its not just about the money and profit with elite
its about the feel of the universe, that its you alone against the world
That you must blaze your own trail

I'm sorry we can't agree on this
Your proposition completely defeats that.

Assuming you are not trolling, let me ask you a couple of questions:

1) If ED went for monthly payments, would there be any reason for me not to play EVE Online instead? It´s currently far superior multiplayer game.
2) How would you justify paying monthly for a game that has a netcode based on P2P principle? Customers are already footing a lot of the bandwidth bill. Game is deliberately build around the concept of light infrastructure maintenance for the company in order to have low overhead costs and keep it running.
3) Why not instead use the model they are going to use, B2P aka expansion/content packs and cosmetic items like paid skins for ships?
4) Do you know any games that have gone from Buy to Play to Subscribe to Play model and more importantly, done it successfully? Trust me, public backlash would be intense for such a move as well.
