Calling all Federation Commanders - The Battle for Liaedin begins now

Federation Commanders,

Three weeks ago we called on you to support us in the Defence of Volungu. The Imperial faction known as the Patron's Principles launched an invasion from the system of Liaedin and together we bravely fought against them. For those commanders who may not be familiar with this conflict you can find the original information here.

Thousands of you rallied to this call and we were triumphant in defending Volungu against this Imperial attack.

I must now call for your help once more.

Since the end of the war in Volungu, the agents working under Operation Blossom have been carefully monitoring the situation. We have been rebuilding Volungu and we have been keeping a close watch on the Empire’s movements in Liaedin.

We have seen the Empire launch a coordinated effort in Liaedin to strengthen its grasp on the system and we have also seen this spread once more to Volungu. At one point it looked as though another attack on Volungu was indeed imminent but we were able to narrowly prevent this by bolstering the Crimson Fortune Company's influence.

We have now decided that this situation cannot continue. If Liaedin is to truly act as a beacon of peace in this galaxy as many commanders desire then it can only do so with at least one station under Federation control.

All Federation Commanders are requested to fly into Liaedin and support us in our effort to take control of one of the three stations in the name of the Federation.

You can do this by running missions for the Crimson Fortune Company or by taking more direct action to reduce the Patron's Principles influence.

If you do this commanders and do it with the courage and dedication which you showed defending Volungu then we will be victorious.

Who are we to ask this of you?

We are a force who fights in support of the Federation. We are a force who have sworn to protect the Federation against its enemies.

This is NOT about taking over Liaedin from the Empire. This about maintaining a balance of power in the area. We want Crimson Fortune's 30% influence in Liaedin restored and to be allowed to maintain that influence level. The only way that we ahead that we see as viable is for the Federation to assume control of a station in the Liaedin system. We would like to do this peacefully. Preferably we would like Patron's Principles, as part of their reparations for their recent unprovoked attack on Volungu to sponsor the new construction of a Federation facility in Liaedin.
If this can be solved without the use of force then all the better.

Federation Commanders,

Your bravery and dedication yet again astounds me. The influence report out of Liaedin has just been sent to me and it brings great news.

The influence of the Crimson Fortune Company has jumped up to 21.6%. Only two days ago we were at a mere 7%. Keep doing what you are doing commanders and we will be victorious.

Good luck in your fight, chaps. Player groups and engagements like this make me wonder whether FD will have to see about some kind of built-in support for them in the game but I guess we'll see!

A while ago I had several ships based in Liaedin. I was around there when you guys' first operation was underway. It sounds like you've got a solid objective in mind and, in as unpartisan way possible, I wish you the best of luck because I think player-instigated 'stuff' like this is great.

I enjoy writing and keep coming back to the idea of maybe (maybe...) trying to act as a sort of roving journalist. With a bit of practice I thought I could then maybe submit reports to Radio Sidewinder or something like that. Do you or the OP think that there'd be scope for a sort of question-and-answer session to ask a bit about your group, objectives and the apparent history behind the Liaedin system?

What do you plan to achieve by doing this? Operations like this will not be tolerated.

I suppose I could give an interview, may go something like this

<interviewer> Who are you?
<me> an independant trader whos made his primary home around the Liaedin system
<interviewer>Which side are you on?
<me>Depends which bunch of maniacs have just interdicted me and ordered me to either work for them or leave the system
<interviewer>Seriously though... which side?
<me>Mine... but then some imperials saw me talking to a fed ship and decided to attack me, the feds thought I must be a wanted pirate and started shooting... honestly you think someone painted a big target on my ship and told everyone to fire at me.
<interviewer>So you dont agree with either side?
<me>I dont mind either side, its just they seem to fly around in big groups avoiding each other until I show up
<interviewer>What happens then?
<me>They team up and attack me, must be my aftershave or something

We plan to achieve exactly what I said we would. We will fly into Liaedin as a united Federation and we will take a station in their name.
