Anyone else waiting for the Imperial Courier?

http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Courier

I for one have my rank up to Knight (or whatever it is right after Squire), went surprisingly fast to raise it.
At first i was planning on getting the Imperial Clipper at some point, but as my rank is already so high and my actual funds are still just shy of the first million credits, i wont be able to afford it. Hoping that the Imperial Courier is a nice middle-step ship.
And by the gods i love that cockpit. Check the screenshots in the wiki, the view is spectacular.
PS: Also, i love how the Empire logo basically is the GDI logo from Command & Conquer.

It will be my permanent ship, so I'm sort of eager to get in there in a very restrained and self-moderated fashion. Having two Imperial slaves to hold me down, also helps a lot.

The imperial courier is a pretty ship, just too small imo. I don't need another Eagle or Viper. It must have special qualities like high jump range to make it useful.

This. Love the look of the ship, but if it doesn't have the speed and jump range it's looks promise...

It's a medium-sized multi-purpose ship. Not a small fighter-craft. The single seat model is based on the philosophy of not having a Wookiee with you, and thus allow for more compartments...

I'm hoping it will make a decent exploring ship but.... From what I gathered here and there, it doesn't look like it will.

We'll know for sure in a couple of days!

From Galnet the 2 May 3301 :

"""Leaked images from the Avalon shipyards appear to indicate that Senator Kahina Tijani Loren’s Imperial Courier, the ‘Seven Veils’, is undergoing a significant refit just weeks after her recent visit to the Sol system.
Security at the Avalon shipyards, which are owned and managed by Persephone station, is extremely tight. The images themselves are grainy and ill-defined, but seem to show that the drives, shields and possibly the frame-shift drive components have been significantly upgraded."""

So Lads, Ladies! This'll be my ship then! Reckon, one large and two medium hardpoints on top - Thank you!
Wager, it'll be fast, long jump range and descend shields - the perfect ship for the gentleman!

:D

When I think about the Imperial Courier, I'd like to see:

A decent jump range (somewhere in the Cobra range) - couriers are for use inside civilised space, and you don't need to spec the hull for work out at the fringes of the galaxy.

Big, big fuel tank. Refuelling is the biggest cause of slowdown if you're going a long distance, and couriers presumably want to get between distant systems quickly.

Enough internal space for either a decent amount of cargo/passengers (ferrying diplomats, who like to travel in small flocks, or odd and bulky diplomatic gifts) or reasonable shields plus maybe a SCB or two (carrying intel through a warzone). Maybe a C5 slot in there, maximum of about 80 tons of cargo so that it doesn't get confused with a T6.

Guns sufficient to deter a casual pirate, and legs enough to get away from a more determined one. Excelling in neither area though - a diplomatic vessel isn't a warship.

Last, and certainly not least: Diplomats may be officially granted privacy, but people love trying to find out what they're up to. The same applies for diplomatic bags today - officially they're sacrosanct, but intelligence types always want to take a peek. A courier's hull should be hardened against scanners more than gunfire, and having a low heat profile for silent running would be a really good idea.

All in all, he sort of vessel that might be prized by a well-heeled smuggler.

I just want enough internal compartments to be comparable to the Asp (you definetly at the very least need more compartments than say the Viper has, for exploration to even be viable. Need a slot for that Surface Detail Scanner without giving up the shield or cargo rack (already gotta fit a fuel scoop too).

I would like some high speed and nice jump range too. As for weaponry, i guess it depends. I would honestly be happy if it was comparable to the Viper, even if it had slightly less Hull durability, maybe more maneuverability or speed. If its gonna be expensive and have a rank requirement, it should at least be marginally "better" as a multi-role than the Viper or Cobra MK3. I dont like using terms like "this is objectively better", but if something DOES have a higher bar of entry, in price AND rank requirement, it should be worth it.

I'm waiting very hard for it.
I like reading all the speculation but I'm not buying any of it either so as not to have false hopes. Saying that, I wish we had an image of it's underside so we could speculate more on hardpoints. Having a pointy nose on a vessel that didn't contain weapons would prompt me to write a letter to the Guatamala shipwrights about wasted opportunities, form vs. function and working while hungover. :D

Absolutely, although not sure what the function will be... hopefully the new missions will give it a raisin d'etre.

Otherwise my clipper will remain my primary transport.

the Courier will be a little to small for me, i'm waiting for the Diamondback, i'm waiting for a combat/explorer ship from the very beginning, i just hope that it will be ASP size with at least 1 large weapon and good speed, i'd like to use it as an armed deep space mining

I am off to Empire space in about a week to start work on my Empire ranking (still outsider), to open up thhe Fed ships.
I qas going to wait for the Fed ships, but I think they are like buses - you wait a long time then three come along at once.

i would say no, it looks smaller then a cobra which can fit on a small landing pad.
