Servers down?

Looking at the way this thread is fairly quiet then has a sudden rush of posts it looks like maybe it's OK for an hour or so then goes down for 5 minutes before recovering again. And during that 5 minutes everyone comes here to see if it's just them.
It's just FD ensuring that we all take regular food/drink/toilet breaks :)
 
15 minutes ago, I arrived at a system and saw a message along the lines of 'Data corrupted, please try again'. Shortly after that I was disconnected. Now the menu screen shows 'Can't connect to edServer : unknown error'.

Also last night (Saturday evening) was so bad we had to stop playing, disconnections were every few minutes.
 
Argentina here!! Impossible to stay online more than 10 minutes... And the frames per second drops very low when in supercruise or hyperspace. That last, never happen before.
Yesterday, (saturday), was working fine... I was able to play a couple of hours at afternoon, and about 5 hours at evening/night. I logged off near 3AM, (about 7AM London time), and was working well.

Same thing on occasion today here in the U.S. also

Where abouts are you in the US? Just curious as I'm on the west coast and haven't had a problem yet. I've noticed that nearly everyone who's reported their location and are having network issues are in Europe with the exception of you and another commander who was in Canada (east coast I think).
 
Been playing for an hour and a half in open (around Witchhaul) with no problems, although I had to restart both the game and launcher to get in. Lots of problems over the last two nights.

Scotland and Ill take a stab and say there are no IT guys working until tomorrow. Tell me Im wrong mods and be honest. If they have been at it all weekend you really do need new guys.

Us mods are just volunteers, we're not FD staff. All I can tell you is that the issue has been raised with FD staff and they are working on it. Can't be any more honest than that.
 
Ireland here and I've been averaging a half hour or so of playtime before getting booted to the menu. I can't reconnect until I restart the whole game after waiting a few minutes. As for the Sobek CG, I went there and found out from the local Galnet that the place has already been taken over by the Alliance and everyone is to shore up security around 78UM. CZ is gone even though the goal is still up in Townshend Hub.

Also did they have to pick Townshend as the station for every CG in that system? It's literally the furthest one from the jump-in star. Gotta stop doing that frontier, c'mon now, thought we'd had enough of that.

I did a quick search for Internet Outage reports for today and it does seem like western Europe and the North eastern US were hit with several "service provider" level outages. Seems like it could very well be the reason why your connections are so "iffy" right now.

Sorry guys, this kind of thing really sucks when it hits over the weekend :(

I am in Asia and I had the same problems, repeatedly !
Not had the chance to log on yet today so I do not know if it is better yet.

It would be nice if they worked on the status page a bit too !

It useless if it can't detect problems or if it is not updated when one is detected !

If they can't automated it or have some tech support monitor the thing 27/7, they could at least give us the tools to report issues.

I would suggest adding a small reporting section where logged in members could
enter a short description of problems they are currently experiencing with the time and their region.

The Status could then be updated if enough members report problem at the same time period and/or in the same region.

I would be good for us, letting us know that the problem is not on our end.

Good for the staff to have automatically compiled stats of connection problems by time and location.

And many, having been able to report it properly, might not feel so compelled to rent on other sites or treads !

It's been pretty good so far and Frontiers has done a commendable job,
but there is some truth to it when people says that by taking the decision to make an online only game,
they also accepted the responsibility of providing and maintaining their online status.
And that if they want to keep adding users, Steam, Mac, Xbox.... it is great !
But they have to plan and expend the servers capability before they do.
It's bad enough for people who know how great the game is, to loose connection.
I can't see a new users who just bought the game and can't connect feeling too happy about his/her purchase !
