Accurate ship scale, modeling and comparison list.

Excellent size comparison. They're a lot bigger than I imagined. When I was in my Viper I really felt like I was flying around in a little fighter craft. Even the Viper is a monster.

btw, now that we know some more precise dimensions for the ships, we can confirm that a sidewinder will indeed fit inside a Conda as planned.

Here is a Condor launching from an Anaconda (GDC trailer).

As you can see, the condor is approximately a little wider than the launch rails protruding from the bay door. We know from FDEV that the Condor is 10.5m wide, and that the Conda is about 62 meters wide, with much of that width taken by the launch bay at the bottom. Here is a pic for reference.

A sidewinder is 21m wide. It fits, although I think everyone would want to have something else inside.

I'm still hoping you can fit two Sidewinders inside an Anaconda (please FD - I need to be able to justify buying accounts for both my kids :)).

Yea, I'm not sure how to feel about how long it's taking FD to introduce sidewinders for the Anaconda. It's in the ships description .

Still, I'm loving these ship size charts.

Another thing i just noticed that is a bit odd. These ships are huge. Why is it that we don't get into multi-crew territory until the asp? The viper is almost the size of a 747 and yet can only support 1 person? These ships must be jammed packed with loads of components.

The Adder has 2, so does the Cobra. I think the Asp is one of the few where they mention multiple crew in the ship description.

Nice OP. It would be better still if we could have a shipyard in-game where we can compare these different ship/sizes altogether in a special 'station hangar' place. I guess we won't get to see anything similar to the OP video until the 'walking' expansion comes along for the game.

good point! forgot about the extra seats in those ships. (been in my conda too long)
I still think they can carry way more than 2 though. :p

It's a real shame the 3D models aren't being released. I would love to print these on my 3D printer. If anyone knows of where/how to get the models or similar please let me know and I might be able to print you one. :)

Very difficult to scan 3d models of ships you can't own or fly yet.

I wasn't/amn't too sure how they're extracting the models. The models for all the craft are "in game", so I assumed there would be some way of extracting them all, even the non-pilotable ones.

Speaking of which.... capital ships!?! ;)

I am not sure they really are (T6, T7 :) ), but we will eventually get planetary landings. So....

With enough thrust behind it even a brick will fly true. The T7 at least has stabilising fins to keep it pointed the right way during re-entry, and the T6 looks like it'd generate some body lift. Once you're moving at landing speeds the thrusters will be doing all of the work anyway.
