The quietest day in ED history

Listen to those tumble weeds blow... Everyone on this forum seems to be waiting for the power play beta. There is a lot riding on this one. I think players are at the stage now where they have pinned their hopes for new content on this update. It has to be good. No pressure... :)

According to what we've seen about how FD is making the game since release (or since the very beginning) I guess 1.3 will be a step toward somewhere still unknown but will not be the holy grail.
Keeping that in mind it's easy to reduce the expectations toward this update to a floating sense of curiousity which then leaves a lot of room to enjoy whatever it is.

Seriously though, as above, I'm having a great time in my A spec Viper and whilst Powerplay should be good, I'm not pinning everything on it. I think its just another step in the evolution of the game. :)

OP has a point, I thought somewhere is said a major update a month and we are now getting them once a quarter and lets be honest it's not a massive update.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to testing 1.3. I am really looking forward to the Diamondback. Since it seems to be an Alliance ship, this also must mean that the Alliance will finally have a ranking system. Hopefully, the Alliance will also have a power.

besides that they never said that ...for a game that was released at december end on updates is very good :D

Its been confirmed that it is not an Alliance ship. And Alliance is still the step child in ED, Micheal has stated that they will not be getting a ranking system anytime soon. Instead you should join the Federation!

I don't think it's particularly quiet, still plenty going on. As others have said I'm not pinning everything on 1.3 but it does need to improve the crappy mission structure in my view.

I don't think I need to wait for PP to know what it involves. What concerns me most is the lack of original player created gameplay it will bring. Unless I am bvery mistaken what I forsee is a number of FD created factions who will push numbers back and forth on a weekly basis controlled by a player voting system. Each week a community goal will be created based upon the results of this vote. Players will push these figures around resulting in one power losing a system of maybe 200 systems and another gaining a system to add to their 200. From week to week little will change. Meanwhile, those players with the deepest involvement in the to date will be left to continue to push the in exactly the same way they have up until now and not actually getting to play power play in the vain hope that some day they might have enough systems to actually qualify them to take part.

My biggest issue with this is that if I am correct then FD have missed the whole point. Players will take ian interest in the background sim because they feel they have some stake in its creation and a feeling of some input to its development. What I am seeing based on what I have gathered is that we will have a number of FD factions that players have no emotional ties to directly and after a short period will not care one way or the other which ways those numbers get pushed.

Also and most importantly, the forces of the internet by sheer wait of numbers and indifference will quash any hope of any player emergent faction before it starts since any 'rising power' will be on somebodies radar since the very food they require to rise will be lying on the plate of an established power who will squash them like the parasite they are.

These are just thoughts and I hope I am wrong, but players thinking they are going to be powers are in for a big surprise come tomorrow, that's my guess.

I'm more interested in the tweaks to already implemented features and optimisation rather than power play itself .. I have zero interest in that side of the update ... much like wings and community goals .. none of which hold much interest to me.

Here's hoping for a major update that just adds stuff for the lone wolf style of play .. bring it on :)

It's a pleasant change not to have to avoid the forums when something new drops. Been fairly rational. Ofc now that we've drawn attention to it all the crazies in the world will be along shortly, but it was nice while it lasted. :)
