President Halsey destroyed by UA

Late for visit, mysterious detour, lost in hyperspace... sounds like Thargoid attack to me.

Which brings me back to the UA, and why attempts to analyse and test it have produced little results is because being Thargoid, it only does what it does inside of "Witch" Space, where unfortunately I don't think players can run any tests on it. However, I'm assuming President Halsey must have had a successful test in Witch Space as it apparently summoned a horde of Thargoid Death Machines onto Spaceflight One.

Wow, awesome! Hopefully the Thargoids are to blame. Getting dragged sideways out of Witchspace and set upon by ridiculously strong Thargoid ships is something I've been hoping for.

So go ahead and keep testing that UA, bring the wrath down on us!

If you want a primer in how this is going to go down, may I recommend series 1 of Babylon 5.

Pay particular attention to 1x22, Chrysalis. The bit where the vice-president gets off the ship with "flu" and then the ship is blown up with the president on board.

Why does the Federation even have an office of Shadow President, anyway? It's like there being an offically elected Evil Vizier or Secretary of Skulduggery (which would raise further questions about the existence of a Dept. of Skulduggery...)

Not to get off topic but a democracy there is usually some kind of choice involved..

It's a bit of UK government terminology creeping in. While the highest level of our elected government is the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, the largest opposition party maintains a Shadow Cabinet which mirrors the serving Cabinet's roles in order to promote opposition policy.

We don't have a Shadow Prime Minister, however - the leader of the opposition party is referred to simply as the party's leader.
