You can now pick your target in the system map !

If it takes less time to scan a system then it just increases the size of the bubble of scanned systems. Far from helping the time constrained explorer, it just makes it ever harder for them as they have to travel further & further to even find something previously unclaimed.

There were bound to be supporters and moaners to some features of 1.3 , there will be supporters and moaners in 1.4 1.5 1.6 etc.

What I am saying is you can't please everyone, that is a given and not a criticism(I have had my fair share of moaning too) :)

Agreed, but they seem to have put naff all effort in trying to please explorers in this release. Selling data a page at a time is the only thing that we have ever had that springs to mind.

On another note....

I've seen the Diamondback, but can't seem to find any threads with details & pics of the Courier. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Thanks & Regards

That little feature will come handy to some, I guess. I don't need it, to be honest... it's just that after thousands and thosands of (more or less) fully scanned systems I am rarely missing the planet I want to DSS. As Ziggy said, adding a simple icon for asteroid belts in navscreen would have been more than enough for me.

Am I the only one who's not too crazy about this? All we need now is an autopilot to take us the selected planet. The DDS will activate without user intervention anyway.

Exploring is on the verge of becoming far to automated and easy IMO.

We knew this was coming with 1.3 since this feature was mentioned a few weeks ago in a dev update or newsletter (can't remember which). I welcome this change and is looking forward to when it is in the live game.

Agreed. Although it's a nice feature, part of my enjoyment was finding the bodies I wanted to scan. Goes the same for me for the option people have been asking for to be able to select target stars when scooting around looking at the shineys in the sky. I enjoy trying to find my way somewhere using the Galaxy Map.

Each to their own though - it's nice they've popped a new feature in the update.

Perhaps they should have made it so that rather than selecting a planetary body to lock on to, it should have been a signal emitted by a station or beacon of some kind? This way, unexplored systems wouldn't have this facility.

You are not the only one. I also think this shouldn't have happened. It's the only actual problem solving we get to do while exploring

I am still waiting for persistent bookmarks saved either on server or locally after logging out. Is this really so hard to implement?

I have just got used to AU value so know exactly where to look, whilst I wanted this it is a bit like using a sat nav instead of learning how to read a map. I am the lady fickle.

Love to know you can select planets from system map, that will really make thing faster, just lost 5 minutes on the left tab locating the only planet i wanted to scan in the system (was not orbiting main star, so counting is useless).
Little bit disappointed with diamondback but i don't cry.

Thanks for sharing +1 rep

The only issue is that you seem to loose you plotted course in the Galaxy map when you select a body from the System Map. Probably a bug because if you select the body the old fashioned way you don't loose the course. But if not, prepare to write down where you where heading.

Ugh that's ugly. I mean, you can write your system destination on notepad and paste into searchbox, but that's painfull. Especially in core regions where route plotting can take minutes. Please beta testers, tell the dev to fix that or the function will be almost useless.

Very happy with this change. Now we have greater parity with Frontier. Now all we need is the orrey view in terms of system views.

Then they can get cracking on making exploration more interesting ;)

Aw yiss! That helps alot, when I only want to select and scan that thing that looks like a waterworld or earthlike while I'm not at the center of the system where I can just count them on the nav list. :)
