another question-- any other explorers turn around and trying to get home before 1.3 hits?

I have a lot of equipment that's going to be useless if everything in 1.3 hits-- turrets, that are, apparently, completely nerfed in 1.3, a now underpowered power supply (my supply was right at the limit when I left, the extra shield/weapon draw will put it over the line) , and may want to sell a few other componenets before the 10% penalty kicks in .. if it does.
Was out 12 k light years when the news hit, I'm around 6k out of civilized space...
.
anyone else cutting their exploration trip short?

No way man, I'm gonna keep on trucking until ive done my sag a pilgrimage. Overpowered aint no big thing, just prioritize fsd to 3 and turn of your guns completely until you get near to home. Then turn off the scanners and any cargo etc and turn the guns on. To be fair you probably don't need the guns on... boost boosty jump is a lot safer than duking it out with a godzillian creds worth of data to lose. When not endulging in space tourism, I regularly run a vulture 2MW over powered. An asp is far more flexible. Keep on keepin on I say.

I'm in a 15 million credit, exploration-geared Asp, somewhere out in the direction of Orion. Other than the 10% penalty for re-gearing it back to a multi-purpose ship if I return after 1.3, is there something else lurking that I need to be aware of? Y'all are making me nervous. :D

What is this about completely nerfed turrets and underpowered power cores / extra shield and weapon draw?

Not me.
With the 'powerplay' powers thing I think my life as an Explorer has just been set in stone.
It's either that or solo - I am in a 30+ million ASP Explorer, many days out.
I guess 1.3 has made me rethink and I will be a outworld/borderland Trader and a Explorer.
Let them all kill each other day after day.
I have better and more fun things to do..........

my ASP is 58 mil... ill be getting my moneys worth before it goes anywhere near inhabited space. See you on the dark side.

Yeah, guess I'm more concerned about the Millions I'm going to lose if I don't unload these 18 million cred (now useless) turrets

I wanted to get back, but don't think I can travel fast enough. I've been at Sag A* for the past two weeks. It took 2.5 months to get there at the rate I was travelling. Doubt I can get back in a week. Maybe by 1.4.

... but turrets were buffed. Do you guys intentionally misread everything?

They are being made more precise, more damaging, able to be fired manually, and will not engage non-wanted targets except in self defense (so they can't commit crimes on your behalf). How is this useless? Where in this do you see "omg nerf must complain"

Yes. Although I specifically planned my exploration trip to be just for this week. I figured it might be my last chance for a while, because I want to be in the thick of the action when Powerplay hits. I've started to turn around now and am heading back. Should make the home systems before Tuesday.

I would be interested in the answers too.

And. Even if someone loses 2 mcr due to the 10%, why care, that's not even an hour in trading and bounty hunting. People LOVE to complain.

I was 20kylies out and decided to head back in for this very reason.
Didnt want something to be changed/altered etc that could by some strange series of events lead to my destruction or loss of collected data.
Also I remembered all the frustrated explorers coming back after 1.2 who kept getting constant crashes when selling data, thought better safe than sorry so after 5 weeks I came home.

I will dock sometime in the next few days after almost two months spent lurking the galaxy, but I wasn't planning to come back for 1.3 - it just happened so. It seems that there are very few interesting things for me in PP anyway.

Nah, still nothing overly decent in that update. I'm currently playing E:D every now and then and I'm still 10k out from Sol and gonna stay away from inhabited space until something actually new and exciting is released. Which is propably going to take awhile.

Nope I'm not returning. In fact today I started a new exploration trip (with no intention to return soon).

I waited to see whether the new 1.3 ships or fuel tanks would be worth postponing my trip for. But it appears they are not.
And as Power Play doesn't really seem to offer me much, that can wait...
