Just got a T9 ... loving it!!

I'm returning from a 2 month tourist route to Sag A and back (with various de-tours along the way), currently 2k away, and for the past week I'm fooling around in the shipyard and trying different loads for a T9.

Only problem is, current assets = 67mil plus a parked Vulture, around 23 mil, equals 90 mil. So I'm trying to figure out how much my exploration data is worth so I can have enough for a serious T9 plus cash to spare plus insurance x 2 at least. :)

Better jump and it moves into 'conda territory. Really nice as it is now, love the feeling of a heavy duty space truck. Only thing that breaks the immersion is that one pretty soon hauls very expensive stuff like slaves and palladium in something that looks more like a bulk freighter.
It should move into Conda territory there by all means. All the T9 can do is haul. It should be able to do that better, while the Conda surpasses it in everything else. But no, the Conda is even the better trader in most cases, almost pushing the T9 into obsolence. I really really hope, that the Panther Clipper will get no multipurpose equal in hauling when it comes.

Exploration data value will depend if you just honked, went the extra mile to scan systems in detail. There's also the possibility of first discoveries on the big ticket items such as black holes and neutron stars.

If you have a lot of data just be careful coming back and consider running solo. Also worth considering if you don't have all the system permits yet is to sell at those stations that grant them. See the thread below.

It varies a lot based on how much you scan and how aggressively you've looked for black holes and neutron stars. Last trip, with scanning quite a lot and very few BH/NS I averaged around 32k per system. This thread may help you guess - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=144776

my T9 is valued at 88million. d-spec apart from the Fsd. Carrying 500 units. Great for cg's. Would never sell it, for any accident you may have with other ships, my t9 can pull in the credits soon enough for the next purchase etc.

keeping a t9 in your inventory is just logical. And I'll agree with it having to be yellow, just to help people to see me coming through the letterbox.... I don't want to hurt anyone, but I have many times!

wow thanks gents. this is all very useful.

I was thinking of starting a thread on "where to sell my data" but I think your info has me covered.

Is there any community goal at the moment where selling data gives astronomical (notice what i did here?) rewards?

i have approx 2000 systems data, 1000 scanned in detail, another 1000 just honked, about 50 BH, 50 Neutrons and 20-30 ELW. Any bets? :D

I love my T9.
It did have A5 shields on initially but they are terrible on such a large ship so now run mine nakedAnd I have turretted beams all over it (only class 1's) and any interdictions by small craft are amusing. Hull repair costs are negligible.

Wow, a positive T9 post, very rare. Did you keep the python too?
I've been stuck deciding whether to buy a T9, or skip it until I have enough for a Anaconda.
One of the issues I have with dedicated traders is the degrading profits that occur when you do a run, you end up spending more time looking for trade runs than you do actually running trades.
It's been my experience anyways.

Welcome to the space truck club.
Am I the only one who feel more "manly" just by flying this brick? :D Like some freaking Harley Davidson chopper ^^

You can get very laid back being a trader (more so in Solo) but remember you need to practise combat on a small scale again to not get caught out!

Question for the T9 jockeys - I had one a while back but dumped it for the Anaconda.

Wasn't there talk of some kind of bulk trading penalty/tax that hit the T9 - or did I completely imagine it?

I did enjoy flying the thing actually..

Flying a T9 (or any other ship for that matter) without shields is easy since they completely messed up the repair costs. Now you can pretty much fly around bumping into whatever and it will cost you a tiny fraction of your profit from the cargo run.

Back in the day a tiny scrape on the toaster rack or a dink on the landing pad would cost an absolute fortune running without shields, now THAT was fun.

Everything got too damn easy thanks to the pandering to the console release imo.

Maybe you could consider waiting for a new exploration CG. But that will be in 1.3 and we don´t know what happens then with the "standard CGs" , do we?
