battlestar anaconda?

so...

imean.. not the BEST use of money in ED standards.... but... you know if you've seen BSG you almost want it.
the benefits are an INSANE jump range and a hull nearly 2000 strong (+ reactive composites make it like shields when it comes to trying to do damage, sorry torpedoes)
while reinforcement packages only help hull point the composite armor should also protect components, plus you can sue those field maintenance packages in combat to repair critical damage things (which normally people have off to power shields and such, as they do shut down the component there repairing).

if anyone has a spare 3 quarters of a billion credits laying around you should totally kit this out and make a vid or something of you jumping into a high intensity combat zone.

Armour doesn't protect modules, for whatever reason. No matter what you do to your Anaconda it'll fall just as fast as any other with no shields.

yea, armor as in the value given in the stats, (which is increased by hull reinforcements) as this only counts toward hull HP. surface composites basically reduce incoming damage on impact, so this should mean damage going anywhere on the ship, modules or hull, will be reduced? (so yea, an anaconda without shields will be just as hard to kill as an anaconda with he same armor plating). and i don't think AI's target modules... power plants on vipers and vultures take so much damage because they're pretty much at the centre of mass, which is targeted by default.

Anytime I see an Anaconda with multi cannons spraying bullets everywhere, it reminds of Galactica. I think a battlestar is closer to the size of a capital ship, though. I can't wait until I can afford an anaconda, when (if?) they ever add planetary landings, I'd like to practice the Adama maneuver. :D

after ED shipyard updated there site with features and changes from powerplay... the battlestar anaconda is still at a price tag of half a billion credits, but you get more bang for your buck so i decided to take a whack at another pointless laodout between my jumps whilst i was exploring and came up with this

http://edshipyard.com/#/L=706,7RL7Q...,31CqBG9i88CqCq8I,0Qk0AA5H_52216y16y16y5Sc5iO 9ta0nE
i also made use of my discovery that B grade components have more armor... dint A grade everything for wight reasons (making it purposely overweight)

if anyone has some spare millions laying around and wants to test it please document (record) it or get a friend to cus we all cant wait.
we also all can't wait to see if they change armor further so setups like this become cost effective.

20 ly isn't "insane".. It's good for that load out. but not insane.. 40 is the best you can do with a conda.
Otherwise, love the build.

Indeed, this Anaconda is going to BOOM with remaining 90%+ of hull, against any, even novice Cmdr... Terrible bulid OP... No any shields? For 600 mills? Really?

My god, this was one of my most favorite scenes! Absolutely epic :D

Just one note - Supposedly in 1.3 the power plant isn't going to be such an obvious target as everyone's been focusing on it and FD want to make it harder to take down the big ships.

Dunno how well this particular build would stand up in a fight without fighter escort or shields, but I love the idea of it and bet it looks amazing fighting in a RES with all those cannons blazing away! Kudos to you, good sir.

So say we all

Apologies for the distortion with the cannon fire, my mic picked it up as well and created a little distortion
Alas the Frag-Cannons ran out of ammunition very quick.
And I could not find Large Turreted Cannons so they are mediums
Not cloud I find B grade modules in all cases.

Ran out of ammo before getting to 90% hull!
If armour protected systems she'd be a honey.

With all turreted cannons, there might even be a broadside
