The major factions - or 'Superpowers' if you like - are still important - and are essentially made up of the Powers. Things like Naval Rank are still important, as is standing within the Superpower.

Could you go into more depth as at present, being a member of one imperial faction makes you hostile to the rest and attacking those ships has a negative impact on our major faction rep.

I have a second question...

Could you maybe alter the control imputs so that the twisty and slidy bits on the x52 pro can be better used?

I understand the on / off issue , though as all ships come with an x52 pro fitted as standard, I would have hoped to make full use of all the buttons..

The Courier and Diamondback are good examples of small ships that are Frontier has decided to devote resources to. These ships are for the most part temporary stepping stones for anyone who wants to progress and not feel gimped or limited in any way.

1. Are there any plans to make smaller ships, like the two coming in PP, relevant "end game"? With the current ship progression, bigger almost always means better for trading and combat.
3. If there aren't plans to make any of the current set of smaller ships relevant for end game ship progression, are there plans on making more expensive variants? A new Viper MK4 worth ~50 mil capable of accepting higher class weapons/modules for example.
2. Tying into number 1, are there any possibilities of looking into tweaking rares trading? Maybe highly expensive rares so smaller ships can carry equal value payloads to some medium-large ship counterparts? I want to be a courier with my Courier!

How do you see the evolution of the game away from the single-player experience of its predecessors towards the multi-player, group-based competition we have with CGs and PP? These weren't part of the pre-release design work we were privileged to share.

Are they are in response to your growing awareness of the current-day mass online gaming market's demands, or were these things you'd always dreamed of but were not able to do in 1984 or 1993?

Are there any plans to increase the yield to mining?
As it stands it wouldn't make any sense to use an Anaconda or a Type 9 to mine other than the novelty of it.
Which I believe was the intent of releasing drones, to allow larger ships to mine? It is something I was really looking forward to as an alternative but haven't been impressed with the hourly income in the slightest from the activity.
It seems you make more from other aspects of mining rather than the activity itself.

No need to reply...
In future AMAs would you consider spending a little time beforehand prepping answers from the (multi-page) thread and posting, say, at the start of the AMA? That way a lot less repetitious questions occur with the already asked/answered and perhaps the (limited) 1 hour session can evolve and cover more Q&A?
A simple copy/paste with considered responses could be far less time constraining and allow most of the general info to fly by and more specific answers to be a part of the Q&A
Thanks for considering this in the future!

Any news on how are we supposed to create new powers? Aren't you worried that initial 10 powers will occupy all the good real estate and leave no space for new powers to develop? Are new powers planned at all?

David,

How did you feel about the fantastic and overwhelmingly positive and co-operative (if ultimately fruitless) community response to the Unknown Artefacts? Will you build on that experience to add actual mystery and investigation into the game in the future? Something worthy of the amazingly talented and knowledgeable community...

Have you been reading up on the forums reaction and suggestions for PowerPlay? If so what do you think of them on average.

PS Awesome game, loving every minute.

David, can you please confirm the structure on how a minor system or multiple systems work together to become a power.

Hi David,

This a question really from my cat Murray (see left). Whilst I am a nice pilot, Murray is forever badgering me to pirate (cats eh?) but he's really concerned about the pirate "profession" in 1.3, in short he's really worried that as an option this door is closing fast.

If you consider the changes that are coming in 1.3 where will it leave them? The seven day bounties which start out as local system bounties rapidly turn into galaxy wide bounties that never expire and are added to re-buy costs. This even happens if they respawn in anarchy systems.

Even I, as a non pirate understand that pirates don't pirate for the money (it has a low CR/HR) and with a galaxy wide "wanted" in place they simply wont be able to switch roles to fill the coffers via trade or RES bounty hunting (as most do). Where does it leave real piracy as a viable option when a death could be a game ending hammer blow?

Murray awaits!!!

Hi David
