I believe in a united Empire. All these factions are ripping us apart.

...And yet we have a forensic trail leading to the Emperors Disgrace of HR 706, a faction under Dentons Patronage, and when these facts come to light, rather than distancing himself from such traitors as any loyal Son of the Empire would do (even if the facts are debatable) we instead see statements of support for these traitors.
Killing our beloved Emperor (may he fully recover soon and end this madness) would benefit the Senator as it would create the spark for him to kindle seperatism and succesion with his own private Empire, this I believe is his ultimate goal, it is the kind of lunacy that we often see from the deranged and powermad.
That's a lot easier to believe than a crank conspiracy TBH.
As for Quivira, well they have been our Allies for generations, what has been inflicted upon them through vile usuary is an affront to Imperial sensibilities, most of us will happily look the other way while weapons are passed to these good people to resist such vile tyranny.

Is it a FORENSIC trail? Is there DNA proof? Arissa still hasn't presented diddly squat to the Senate, when she said she would weeks ago.
Patreus doesn't distance himself because he knows it's not true. He would never be so monumentally stupid as to authorise an assassination attempt. That would unite the Empire against him, and undermine the authority of the office of Emperor, something he most definitely does not want to do.
Killing the Emperor would not benefit Patreus, since the Emperor is on his last legs anyway, and if discovered his ambitions would be utterly finished. An assassination would unite everyone behind the throne, not spark a secession. Patreus would have to be breathtakingly idiotic to try it, and stupid that man is NOT.
The "assassination attempt" is itself the crank conspiracy.
Also - what usury? Any good businessperson knows that to neglect your investments is to lose your wealth. If the Senator is truly a known loan shark then I question the intelligence of those systems who take his loans with such eagerness. If you're an investor you make many investments. Some default, it's inevitable. And when that happens, you collect. That's just how it goes.

Speaking of imperial faction, the Lavigny-Duval symbol always reminded me of something and until today i couldn't remember what. Then i realized:

As much as I'd like to support the Empire as a whole, I'd also like to participate in PP.. So I hope they at least add cooperative power missions like uniting against a common foe or working for a common goal. Or at the very least make defection between imperial powers a not too serious offence.
Torval doesn't appeal to me on the basis she wants to relax regulations on slavery (as someone else mentioned in the thread, renaming them to indentured servants would help a bit), which imo is a step in the wrong direction and closer to actual slavery. Even if what little I've seen suggests she'll be good economically.
While strictly I don't agree with Aislings desire to abolish indentured servitude, I also believe she won't truly succeed in doing so. And hope her actions result in more regulation/safety for indentured workers and more automation in particularly dangerous areas of refinery/industry ect. So the safety net is still there, and that she see's it as so. As good as this outcome would be, how likely is another matter entirely...
Both Patreus and Arrisa both seem like strong candidates, but I wonder how long it lasts until they work against each other.
So while I initially thought of Aisling, I can't be certain of a good outcome, and the other two seem to be set to squabble at some point.

But Patreus is a dangerously intelligent man, so you know you want to pledge to him.

I'm waiting to see who would be the most practical to keep the Empires economy and sword arm strong. As the Emperor still draws breath, I still support him.

I for one would not trust any evidence that can be tampered with (such as DNA evidence), I do however trust the money trail...the Cui Bono in reality.
This was presented to the Senate, and I can somewhat understand their lack of enthusiasm to jump to an immediate responce, it's not the Imperial way to be reactionary, but rather to weigh and consider all events and facts, but I am sure the Senate will respond in due course and the traitors of HR 706 will have their kill warrants issued.

What actually happened was a clear and loud middle finger, Patreus effectively said "Yeah, but what you gonna do about it?" and thus revealed his hand and his complicity in this crime.
For such a smart guy, as you say, this reveals arrogance, and a rebellion against Imperial Rule and Tradition. We have a Senator of collosal arrogance, in contempt of our Traditions and aggressively carving out a little Empire for himself, and you say that he is above secessionist strategies? I believe anything is capable of such a megalomaniac as Patreus.
It would be better for billions if an assassins bomb found Patreus, better one man dead than the civil war he will create.
Senator Patreus or Duval.... not sure depending on some factors. One of which is location, I have not played the beta, and would like to check out location and sub systems, as of where I am right now compared where I will or would be. The rewards are just the icing on the cake, but not my main focus point.
I like both characters to an extend, just not sure but its between them two. Empire for the long haul.

There's been no indication that it was presented to the Senate. And certainly no response from the Senate. Obviously there is no evidence that can stand up.
On the contrary, a person of integrity and honour, knowing the truth, would not throw their innocent colleagues under the bus. Even to cut them loose would suggest that he himself had some part in it and was merely trying to save his own skin. What actually happened was nothing of the sort. He did not effectively say anything. There is no rebellion, no megalomania.
Patreus does not want to foment rebellion or secession. He wants to rule over a united Empire. He has never displayed any signs of sociopathy, irrationality, or hatred.
Quite the contrary, it is Arissa's total lack of scruples that spell utter disaster for the Empire.
