Federal Corvette

You can already squeeze a conda past a T9 in the letter box so the corvette and panther have plenty of room to grow from the current size ships.

Where's the Imperial counterpart? I want to see what that looks like.

The books and Galnet have mentioned the Imperial Cutter as the Imperial “small” warship, Mr Braben has also made passing mentions of it at game conference interviews.

There's no official concept art attributed to it, but if you google Imperial Cutter you get the one most people think it may be. But it could also be an early concept of the clipper.

Until offically confirmed by Frontier, theres no way to know if its one of the planned 30 ships or not.

So it might end up looking like a big clipper?. It is one of the best looking ships in game i guess it could be worse.

Nah. I think that is almost definitively a concept for the Clipper. It has pretty much all the same features.
I think the Cutter is going to be a bit longer, sleeker, more vertical than the very horizontal Clipper. A bit more like the Majestic class. But that is just my guess.

I was thinking the same thing. It's a clipper with a different front section. IMO it's better looking than the donald duck learjet thing we have now. If they did a revamp of the Clipper and put in that front section instead I'd be happier.

Still waiting to trade in my Anaconda for this awesome ship.....Please give us an update if this will be available this year devs :)

every ship shouldn't be able to solo another ship. A fighter plane in world war 2 could not SOLO a destroyer. But anyway... if I have a corvette type craft, which has more armor, shields, weapons, and power...it should be able to (once piloted half away decent) beat anything else solo or DRIVE off its attacker. Not because you want to imbalance things but by its very nature a corvette is more powerful than a fighter in any lore.

So if you are going to stick with conventional navy classifications, the least you could do is stick to why vessels are classfied higher, which is because they have bigger displacement and are more powerful.

A corvette, or anaconda or python being able to beat a fighter one on one isn't over powered...its normal. The resources it takes to construct a larger ship, you could construct several fighters for, and there is your balance. So if Navy 1 constructs a python, and for the same price and resources Navy 2 constructs 3 fighters, then yes I expect the three fighters to beat the python.

But the python or other bigger ship, punch for punch blow for blow is individually more superior than any fighter. I can understand nerfing the pythons maneuverability if it is bigger, but nerfing its shields etc...went too far.

So all multipurpose ships or corvettes are for, is cool to look at but functionally inept.

Couldn't agree more.

Python = Patrol Craft..Should be able to handle multiple fighter craft. A be the best capital class fighter killing ship.
Anaconda = Frigate (a la coast guard) ..should be able to deter multiple fighters and kill warships
Federal Corvette = Destroyer..definite warship killer and fighter deterrent.

Sector defense and pacification: 1 Corvette and 2 Pythons.

Frigates usually patrol without escort and provide emergency response. A trading Anaconda is a Merchant Frigate.

You think a destroyer should be able to kill a warship? Go find a naval officer from WWII and ask him about that... Of course, in space it's different; moving in 3 dimensions, line-of-sight never interrupted. Deter multiple fighters? Maybe, but GOOD pilots should be able to take him down. Should be tough though, and if he's escorted, forget it.

A destroyer IS a warship and yes it should. They were made to take out submarines and perform torpedo runs on larger vessels. An AEGIS cruiser could tear a fighter wing apart by itself.

NO SINGLE FIGHTER should be able to take out a capitol ship. Period.

Thy really need to give us an update on when this ship will be released. They put it in a newsletter back in february and then nothing since. Too much anticipation!!!

Taranto, Pearl Harbour, the sinking of PoW & Repulse. OK single fighters didn't set off, but single hits were often enough and who's to say it couldn't happen with a lone arrival? There's not a 100% shoot-down rate of lone fighters by capital ships, else recon would have been problematic.

For destroyers and frigates (both bigger than corvettes) being single-shotted by fighters, see Falklands.

...

The problem with this kind of analogy is you're comparing apples with oranges. Swordfish and Albacores didn't have to sail up to their targets and there were no flying battleships.

Also, role is important. A Lancaster was much bigger and more expensive than a Me-109, but who do you fancy in a one on one?

I am trying to rank up with the fed just in pure anticipation of this ship. I hope it will be the equivalent for the anaconda than what the FdL is to the python: similar size, cheaper, cannot power everything, pure combat.
