4500cr/ton

LOL, yeah, I couldn't find the res, and sure as heck couldn't remember, hence 'ungodly'. I wonder what ED would look like at 300x200?

The reason I don't use chaff is I don't use it on my bigger ships, which is usually what I am smuggling in. After all, who smuggles in a 2t FdL?? :) I can see using it on wee ships, but the bang for buck is lower on big ships (helps with making it harder to get hit on one of your subsystems).

That dude needs to learn how to line up before he drops out of SC.

it was a test, i wanted to be away from the entrance.

Never tried chaff - so I cant comment. What ship do you fly, in your initial post you mentioned that you hardly ever get scanned.

- Are you sticking to stations where you are allied?
- What ship do you fly? if it is a small fast one, you probably get in before they have a chance to scan you - I need to do this because my D rated Conda is too slow - and would often get scanned.
- Also, with the imperial slave smuggling, a 1.8m fine is just too much off the profit margin not to be extra safe.

This week has been my first proper foray into smuggling, so I cant pretend to be an expert, if anyone else uses chaff successfully on big ships to avoid fines I will definitely try it.

I fly a Python, but have only did about 4 or 5 Imp Slaves smuggling runs since 1.3 and I never got scanned, so I could be lucky. I have definitely done this while smuggling in a Viper and an Asp, and been successful. But now I’m wondering have I just been lucky, it seems strange I’m the only one who has heard of this.

.
I'll test that with a few tons of slavesin my Conda when the servers come up - at least then the fine wont be too much if LeftNoob is pulling our leg ;)

Ok, now I am starting to doubt myself as it was a long time since I last smuggled except for a few runs last night. I’m gonna test this tonight with 1 ton of Imp slaves and prove/disprove my theory. Until then please don’t take what I say as gospel.

Not doubting you buddy, it's worth a try, just not risking a 1.8 mil fine :D

Yeah, actually it has two graphics modes (320 x 200) is HiRes! Then there is multi color mode at LowRes. For anyone actualy interested. http://www.studiostyle.sk/dmagic/gallery/gfxmodes.htm

And back on topic. Yeah I used chaff on my Viper for obvious combat reasons, and have not did smuggling for a while, but I think if it does indeed stop the scan, then it’s worth a utility slot when you’re smuggling.

Agree, try with 1 ton first, see if it does work. If so it makes it a lot easier than silent running.

Has anyone noticed the severe drop in Imp slaves? I was making almost 1.5m with 452t, now seeing like half that. Maybe need to move on?

That was a stealth server nerf due to the astronomical profits of 8000+ cr per ton. Cannot be caught making that much money.....it's just not cricket!

Even with legal trading? Superconductors one way 590k, then Imperial Slaves the other was making 1.4m. Now, same route making 300k for Imperial Slaves? Demand is still high and the supply is medium. Nothing has changed. Why would you do that FD? I do see a similar route, but farther, and requires an Imperial permit (you know what system I am talking about). Making the same profit, but need 2 extra jumps to get there, weird!

Agree. Why cant I sell legal goods for a profit of close to 1.5m??? What is wrong with that? I have spent my time playing working up to the big trade ship, why cant I smile when I see the profit? Why is that something you would change? I don't understand the thinking behind this.

I refer to their newsletter update no 77.

4. Criminal enterprises have the tools to succeed.
Smuggling illegal goods is now even more lucrative. Narcotics are subject to higher demand and inflated prices, players receive a higher percentage for black market sales, and all sales now apply to your Trading rank. Finally, Black Markets can be located on the galaxy map, so no more wasted trips for the galaxy's criminal element.

Completely back tracked on this already because people weren’t grinding Gold/Res Seperators trade routes all day. Thanks ED, this game is getting worse the more you do with it. Maybe it’s time to work on another project and leave this alone.

It would appear slaves have been nerfed again.

Belay my last Commanders, I have found a profitable "legal" route. Higher profits than before actually. And it only cost me 2 disconnects mid-jump, and 2 collisions with invisible objects outside the Starport. Thanks 1.3.01!

Invisible objects outside the station? seriously??? can anyone else confirm these shenanigans?

My run was cut down to 1.8k but considering there was nothing worth taking back I was only making money one way. Definitely better to do regular goods again.
