1.3 - Is it safe to resume exploration

That's it, I am parking my ASP and taking a break till 1.3.3 is out!
This is just ridiculous: disconnects, double scans, short plots that look like a spaghetti junction (when I am lucky enough that it plots something!), cartographic screen taking aegis.....

Yeah, I'm done too. Route planner is a mess (and that is when it works, which only seems to be about 10% of the time).

Perhaps I was lucky last night in the end then. I dipped in for an hour's play around 8.30pm UK time and managed an hour's worth of play - roughly 500ly route plotted, 16 jumps. I had 1 server disconnect and quite a few double scans but there wasn't anything too unpleasant.

I also quite liked a few aspects of the 1.3 implementation - specifically the little yellow arrow on the system map showing which body you have targeted, the ranking percentages and Galnet being available from the cockpit. Not sure about that hideous piece of UI on the system map which allows you to directly select a body as a target though, it seems to keep getting in the way.

Also, have you found that your 2nd and 3rd level scans show the right numbers now? I was getting 2170 and 772 respectively but now see 17436 and 2170 which seems more likely.

Good luck out there commanders, it seems a pity that it's gremlins and not Thargoids we should be fearing out in the void!

I spent most of yesterday exploring (important to note I am not selling data). Apart from UK busy times I got very few double scans, and no drop outs. During busy times I got 1 drop out and lots of double scans. This morning looks pretty good too. So if you can avoid the european evenings, and don't want to sell data, then you should be good to go. I'm staying in the black until things have improved.

Are people setting routes? as I am totally paranoid about losing my Commander data again. Still manually plotting, had three dropouts last night. At the moment I have no confidence in the stability of the game.

Manually plotting? You mean do one jump at a time, or is it now possible to plot the 1000 ly route manually? That would be awesome.

yesterday everything was top-notch, not a single jump crash until around 8:30pm GMT+1, later I stopped playing because double scans, double honks, jump crashing

I had a route set last night - 500ly approx, around 15 jumps. Had no problem with it except for one server disconnection.

What did bother me though, was that my shields were gone when I restarted. Not a problem out in deep space but how on earth does that work?!

Had exactly the same thing happen to me. Connection Error and then I start again to see my shields recharging?! First time I've ever noticed this.

Also had a 1000ly route plotted and it was fine, at least no Commander Data Not Found stuff. As long as you make a note of the destination it's no big problem, it's when I forget to do this and I disconnect or get disconnected that winds me up.

I'm getting the same "route unavailable" errors in the route planner after upgrading to 1.3.1. Gonna log out and try again tomorrow after they patch things again. Don't want to risk anything funky happening and losing all my data.

tbh, i think you need to do what any honest gamer should and would do.. try it out for yourself and see what you personally feel about it. Whilst some of us may get some drop outs, or fps drops, you on the other hand may experience it more positively.

So give it a go, and decide after half an hour or an hour if its playable for you.

The last hour has been ok for me.
Certainly better than the last couple of days which were dreadful.

On the other hand it is still worse than it was before 1.3.
I still get many double/triple scans, and needing to double or triple honk.

I have noticed that they appear to have listened regarding the System Map and the Object Label.

The label is the same size, but they've made the line coming from it to the selected Object longer, which now allows you to select the next Object on the right with ease!

Thanks FD

Yeah, I noticed that as well. A smart and simple solution. I certainly appreciate it.

Very first jump.

Stuck in Witch space for ages, then unceremoniously dropped to the desktop without even the usual flashing crash stuff or an attempt at a crash report. Like the app just decided to up and leave.

...siiiiiigh.....

Errrr..........................

I appear to be one of the 'lucky' ones.

I'm back in inhabited space. Anlave to be precise (in solo before anyone comes hunting ;) )

Ah.

Well I was only about 500LY out so I guess it's not that bad.

Hmph. I may be irked.

Sheesh. I'm staying well away from ED until this is sorted out. I've invested too much time exploring to have it come to such an anticlimactic end.

Well - I took the opportunity to join the CG and sell the data I'd collected.

Sold it all, got no recognition and decided to jump vertically up a 1000LY.

Got 1/2 dozen jumps in and I'm back here again.

I am definitely irked.

ABSOLUTE NOT SAFE for all explorers: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=154789

PS: No Idea why Ian Phillips closed my thread since its a big issue for Explorers. And to Ian, I read the changelog and tbh I didnt saw or see it. Maybe you make a changelog in different languages since english is not my 1st one. Or better announce it in the game?

Killing weeks of traveling is not just a little thing...
