Elite Dangerous..........

You can always do it for me; I'm a bit busy right now. Take careful notes. You don't want to miss anything. Remember, creative licence for effect doesn't count. Only actual errors in grammatical structure or unintentional spelling mistakes are going to count against me if you're here to confiscate my jackboots. There could even be a contest for it! I don't have a prize handy however, so the satisfaction of discovery will need to be its own reward.

I don't have any words to express the enjoyment I got out of that.

Then again, I think I just used words to express the enjoyment. Back to the drawing board.

Elite has many problems, but OP's hyperbole undermines any valid criticism he might have levied.

And CakeEngine's response is right on the money. Kudos for that.

sorry for the hyperbole buddy, if elite has many problems why would FD bring the game out on other platforms ?? Surely it would make more sense to get one thing right at a time, unless of course they want to just make as much money as possible before the game loses 90% of its player base to future games. To be fair though Elite provided us with a stepping stone for the future, but it's just not going to last. I know for a fact you guys know this just don't have the balls to say so. I think longevity of one title is very hard to achieve, what happened to other versions of elite ? excluding the fantastic 84 version. I know for certain this game will never achieve longevity guys, just admit it, it's fun while it lasts for some don't get me wrong, but just have that same satisfaction and excitement anymore for many people already, it's life guys, things move on, some games are destined to be a stepping stone for better things. This game will simply never be something people will continue to play for years and years, could you really see this game having the longevity of EVE ? And that's with a monthly fee. What are all you commanders going to do when there isnt anyone to play with or talk on forums to ?? That's right folks.......you move onto Star Citizen :)

SC has many followers and was good game too but isnt everyones choice so plz go play the arena that he has so far and dont spill ur venom around anymore ...

i wonder what he would say when SC fail to deliver ....

Ill be saying it was fun whilst it lasted and it was a great stepping stone for future games of the genre, silly billy :)

Actually, I'll be playing No Man's Sky, regardless of whether Elite soars or burns up on re-entry. NMS looks like it'll be a lot of fun; it's got the scope of procedural generation that I was hoping was going to be in Elite at first. FD has lots of chances to make Elite become a solid title, but equal chances to turn it into a flaming ruin. I think the next six months are going to determine that outcome.

As for SC, it seems like it might be on the Duke Nukem Forever train, insofar as what they can deliver versus how much hype there is around the project. For that much money directly invested by the gamers themselves, they can't afford to come out with something that's only as good as whatever version of Elite would be currently existing in that time. They have to hit it out of the ballpark, and even the parking lot, if they want to justify the massive cash they've earned.

very well said buddy, that's exactly right, and thank you for replying :)

im not saying that he wont get released but if he fail to deliver what they promised then the uproar would be huge ;p
Hold. The. Fruity. Phone!
If Behaviour Interactive fails to deliver in 2016 and therefore has to delay SC, and if CETA gets legal validity in 2017, David Braben could actually sue Chris Roberts on an Investor-state dispute settlement-court.
come to think of all the lulz. Her Majesty may even have to introduce some sort of royal troll medal to award DB with it.

We don't even know what Star Citizen will be. It may not be worth competing over. Heck, it might become a Bejeweled clone before it actually launches.

think the fun that would be to deliver a total arcade game at 2016 ;p

surely you guys could come up with a little more educated criticism than that :(

Come on guys, give me criticism, something more in depth. And I hate family guy, I was more of a South Park fan ;)

Okay. Constructive criticism: Use Comic Sans Serif. And pink.

Thanks,
S

OP has a ton of good points. I bought this game around Christmas and it was Amazing!!! Went all out, bought a new PC and hotas. Really enjoyed the game and was prefectly fine with the lack of content on release. I understand that it takes time, but my biggest gripe is how they advertised this two ways. They advertised it to the single player community as well as to the MMO community. Now they have this unsolvable issue of the disparity between the two groups and what they want. Basically I feel both parties lost out because neither gets the game they wanted or were advertised. I've tried to stay positive but at the moment of me typing this I realize that I've logged less then an hour of game play in the last week. Dota 2 on the other hand has easily seen 7 hours. I was hoping power play was going to reinvigorate the universe and have a real reason for people to be in open. The exact opposite has been accomplished, and since pvp is what I play for, the game has taken a turn for the worse.

I suspect this will be the down fall of this game, the fact it is trying to be an every man game. I brought this game thinking it was going to be a MMO with a huge persistent universe, a bit like EVE but you sat in the ship..

I couldn't have been more wrong. So now there is a fair bit of friction between solo and open players because neither think the game should be based on the others view. What will happen is one group will be left disappointed and leave (but FD will still have their money).

There is a reason why most game focus on being one theme and nobody actually lets the different themes compete against each other i.e. same universe making the different view even more antagonistic towards each other.

I do still enjoy the game but like the OP find it a bit tedious, there need to be more way to earn credits which are far more fleshed out than the current go fetch, go find missions now.

From their April Trading Statement, it all looks quite rosy for the time being...

Actually no it does not. That statement is careful not to say that sales are going well. If sales were going well, I am sure it would say so. It also doesn't mention that the last accounts shows the company losing a third of a million pounds a month. That by definition means the game was selling well enough.

Also note that when the trading statement says "The retail price remains £40 (US$60, €50)." it fails to mention that Frontier is now receiving little more than half of that, since the the Frontier store has lost almost all its sales to Steam. That's a serious loss of revenue that Frontier has fails to disclose to investors.
