PP week over?

In both cases, at the end of the cycle the power which can afford the expansion and has completed the most
preparation gets to progress to the expansion attempt whilst all other preparation fails and the command
capital invested is lost.

Seems that doesn't work as they said. Zemina had multiple prepared system that she could afford, but none where chosen for expansion this cycle.
Yet when you look at the PP map, those system aren't in range of any other system that was chosen for expansion. It would be nice if those rules worked like they are supposed to.

According to the help window

It's possible that what happened is another power prepped more to a system that was too close and caused the other to fail to go into expansion. There does seem to be a radius.

I had several threads in the beta forum charting how, over successive cycles of the beta, the top ten prepared systems for Aisling Duval didn't match up with the systems actually selected for expansion.
It wasn't a case of another Power prepping more there, it was just that some systems were passed over.
FD claimed to have fixed this in one of the latter beta releases, but we never got another cycle completing before the beta ended to allow me to confirm.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 'fix' didn't, as other items listed as fixed throughout the beta frequently weren't.

As to the nomination mechanic, all the nominations do (or did in beta) was provide extra preparation for a system without having to prepare it manually.
So 10 nomination points was just equivalent to carrying 10 units of powerplay cargo to perform a preparation.
Initially you would add this at the preparation system similarly to providing powerplay cargo, then later in the beta they added a button on the PowerPlay preparation screen to add to systems in the top ten.
If there isn't any systems in the top ten, you need to manually prepare systems until they appear in the top ten list (which might require getting the 100 preparation points, not sure).

Yes I confirm this, Zemina only has 1 expansion system on list, and we had 3-4 with enough contribution,Kappa Fornacis was third on list from four... Its bugged 100%

EDIT Kappa is under Hudsons expansion, wich is weird because I checked 12 hours ago and it stated Zemina had the most influence.

Dumb question I guess,

But what is this thing about 'handing' merit in ?

I thought that when you had in PP cargo you got merit and done.

You kill a guy, you get 1 powerplay merit voucher in your transaction tab.

Those who didn't hand those in (to get real merits) before this morning, lost them all.

yeah, this was a bug I raised in beta after tracking the preparation/expansion cycle for Aisling Duval.
It was supposed to be fixed in Beta 6.

Ah, okay this is only for kill's merits that you have to redeem at station.

Though they was something I missed with merits from cargo delivery.

Not sure what to make of all my merits still being there. Will some of them disappear from this to the next cycle.

Some people defected and immediately got a rating increase I believe. Didn't do it myself as Im with Hudson for the bounty bonus.

I'm going to be cautious and assume it's a one time thing.

Check you merits, all mine carried over with no loss this cycle.
Whether or not duanedibly lost out is going to depend on how Frontier handle this cycle ending early.

We've seen that they've allowed 100% of merits to carry over instead of the expected 50%. They could either say that we've effectively been doing week 0, and that this is now week 1 with a free week's headstart. duanedibly will spend 12m to get to rank 5 this week, and next week he'll carry over 5000 which is what he expected to be doing tomorrow. He'll also get his 50m salary for being rank 5.

On the other hand they could say that it really was week 1 that finished, only they let us retain 100% just this once. duanedibly will still spend 12m to get to rank 5, only next week he'll carry over 4100 and will have to pay an extra 9m on top of the 50m he would have expected to maintain the rank. Plus next week's salary will only be 5m for rank 4 instead of 50m which means he'd be down 54m overall.

Duane may yet have a right to feel aggrieved.

If it's broken, fair enough. I just like to exhaust all possible avenues of understanding before deeming something broken. :)

For those who are asking about losing all merits - no, read the manual. Merits have a 4 week cumulative decay of 50%. Its a little much to go into here though, so just read up on it.

As for unclaimed merits not carrying over, interesting, could be a bug. Has someone reported it (apart from the guy who reported it in beta)?

I could see a reason for it working like this though. It stops people accumulating masses of merits, then dumping them all in the same week for rank 5. I could see this as being a good mechanic for casual players to hit rank 5 once in a while, but then anyway there is the risk in carrying around so many merits, when (i presume) they can be lost if you are killed... (someone can confirm if merits are lost when killed?).

I'll just exclaim "pants" and go and mutter elsewhere. Obviously the week end is the server down day, but this week has flown by. I won't be able to log in to the game until later, but I was halfway through a bunch of PP stuff yesterday, so it'll be interesting to see if a weekly "jump" in PP is appropriate, or whether the algorithms should be honed for more granular updates. All good fun though, and PP is pretty awesome in a giant, evolving political galaxy kinda way.

How does it go again?
Oh yeah - "There are only a couple of minor problems. Thanks for the great work FD."

Its different when the issues affect you directly isn't it?
Keep calm. It will all work eventually. Looks like the only real problem here is the stealth cycle tick (which was always lurking).

Common misconceptions here:
I made rank 4/5 but only got 1000CR: This is because you were rank 1 during the cycle.
I kept 100% of my merits not 50%: Of course, you will lose 50% of them next time whilst keeping 100% of those you earn this time.

The actual update seems to be working as intended.

I love PP. (someone has to say it.)

Yes, fair enough.
Re-reading my post it seems a little combative which wasn't my intent, I was just trying to be informative. :)

I'm just a little fed-up that I spent considerable time finding and raising bug reports in the Beta which have not been resolved.
This is a pretty major issue with PowerPlay, IMHO, and I think it is pretty poor they didn't take the time to fix this properly before releasing.
