This is not a gripe about ship destrustion thread.

But it IS a gripe about totally spurious and with no reason ship destruction thread!

I had no bounty. I was docked and in the hangar. I had to go AFK for a couple hours and I came back to "Your ship has been destroyed by [station I was docked at]" That's messed up. It shouldn't happen because I wasn't a legit target for ANYONE. That cost me a couple million rebuying my ship and leaves me " trading naked" without the resources to rebuy my ship if some random pirate pops me. I can recover from that and I will but I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.

Stupid stupid stupid.

There is a new breed of aggressive traffic wardens. You had obviously outstayed your allotted time period. Oh, and you exist, therefore you are a legitimate target for everyone.

Whiterose, with the greatest of respect and because I know you're kidding please take an aerial fornication at a rotational pastry.

Lol, I think its the words AFK...the amount of time AFK has led to death and destruction. This is a cop out but you could ticket it and see what happens. If you are in the hangar you should be safe, but obviously this is not the case.

True. Its stupid to go AFK without logging out ...

In all fairness I would leave my ship in the hanger overnight, did it for a few months. Only time I would log out is due to an update or force disconnect. Ships should be immune to destruction if locked to the pad.

Why in Space would you leave yourself logged on afk for a couple of hours when you are already in a hanger. Apart from the fact it ties up a hanger from use, what purpose does it serve? For all we or you know your controls might have fired a launch command while you were away.

Raise a ticket and log out next time.

done and done. When the phone rings just when you're on approach to a station and you HAVE to walk away from the game right after you dock to deal with it with only enough time to hit "enter hangar" sometimes you end up afk in the hangar.

I'm not salty about the milions I've lost, I can make those back in a single nights play. It's just that it shouldn't have happened.

It would seem that it used to greatly facilitate trading for Wings....

Interesting, is there any proof that people do that? Seems like an easy exploit to fix. Personally I leave the game running for the background noises, I crank up the speakers and have the station sounds playing in the man cave. It's nice to walk back into a session and have the ambient noise and ship ready to go. Kinda breaks immersion for me having to load up the game each time.

@Op - Ask them to check telemetry, you should get your money back if it's a bug

Never mind whether he should have been AFK or just logged off, this shouldn't happen in the hangar. Sounds like a bug.

FD has said they are aware of it and it is an exploit. People basically teleport around when trading, it is rather silly. Not sure if it was fixed in 1.3 or not, people have been too busy being angry about new things it is hard to follow the old nuisances. ;)

for hours?

no idea how long its gonna last when you answer it.. Answer phone, deal with it, come back to PC and its been two or three hours and you think you saved everything then discover your ED save is borked because you got blown up while docked.... not saying the game is wrong to do that but DEFINITELY saying that it sucks hairy wookie balls :)

I have it on good authority that it not only happened but was very lucrative for participants - static Wing members would get 5% of each trade in the station that they were docked in (i.e. AFK, effectively earning for doing nothing at all) while the trading Wing members would be able to travel virtually instantly from star to station which would greatly reduce round trip times, thus increasing trips/hour and therefore overall earnings.

Oh wow, first time I've heard of that. Sounds like a major exploit, am surprised it wasn't an urgent hotfix. I guess wing members could also bypass any piracy or interdictions?

The Wing beacon range was tweaked in 1.3, I believe, which should reduce the effectiveness of the method. It would seem that they could avoid most, if not all, interactions that would slow them down.

Yeah, seen folks do that. No way I'd participate because that's so TOTALLY not kosher for playing the game legit. Every credit I got I earned legit, thats why I'm a tad bent outta shape for losing them the way I did.

Ultimately don't leave yourself afk for hours or if you do (like 777driver) be prepared to take a credit hit sometimes.
