ofc master when u going to sent us the 40$ monthly paycheck for that to happen? :)

$40 paycheck to play the game, or voice opinions?

My opinion is just as important as all of yours by the way, as important as a number on a 7billion plus spreadsheet. And there are no masters, only master is the Universe and the flow of its energy...

In what way does that statement "force" someone to play in Open? And no, I would not complain if I had to play in Solo, I just wouldn't play nearly as much.

I understand that my personal being is not nearly important enough to voice my complaints and annoyances on such a grand scale. Frankly I could care less about all of your complaints, but I do appreciate your opinions for what they are, a drop in the bucket.

So my suggestion to all remains: Play in Open.

I could be wrong, I could have sworn one of your earlier arguments ( one one of the threads linked to this one) was to get rid of Solo and there only be Open. If I am wrong then I am and I apologize and I got you confused with someone else's post.

If I am not wrong then my question still stands and your comments are a smoke screen.

We all know what's 'best' for ourselves don't we? And yes, defiant would be a fitting term for my personality.

I'm talking about those who think they know what's "Best" for everyone else. "Hey I am this way, you should be this way too." Or "Hey I do things this way, I play this way, this is the only way ANYONE should play" type of people.

Yea that definitely wasn't me. I think there is a place for Solo for sure. Personally, I only played the single player campaigns in almost every FPS, so thats kind of a similar situation, sort of. Now the whole contributing to PowerPlay in Solo without a way for Open players to counter is a much more valid discussion...

Oh, and FYI for the future when you see my posts, I don't do smoke screens, straight up is the way to be, in my opinion.

Oh no, that's not me. Just voicing my preference, and hoping others will come to Open and enjoy it as well. In America, we all have the liberty to make choices as we please, I believe in the freedom of choice, most definitely. I'm just of the opinion that many people are missing out on a lot of good times by staying in Solo forever.

Why?

I do play in Open, but I'm curious to the intend of the, lets call it, suggestion.

edit: reading further, you indeed specified it was a suggestion. :)

And now I'm confused again. I admit, it doesn't take much.

I feel that many people who play in Solo are missing out on unique experiences that can only be had with other players. A great example of this, in my mind, would be going through a Rares system knowing there are CMDR pirates waiting to interdict and take your 15t. For me, NPC's are a fun fight, but not really a threat (No offense Ms. Avory).

On the other hand, I totally understand the perspective of players who don't want to 'worry' about having to fight other CMDR's.

And also, I confuse myself a lot.

I typically play in a Private Group, ostensibly because it's a Roleplaying group and I would prefer to remain in-character when playing the game. I'm yet to meet a real person in the group though, given the scale of the galaxy, so realistically I would play Open if not for the following reasons:

1. You can't take high-res screenshots in Open.
2. You can't use the debug camera in Open.

Half the enjoyment of the game for me is seeing a particularly beautiful scene and taking a picture of it. Not being able to do so (or at least, not as effectively) is a major drawback to playing in Open for me.

All of the people that I know (personally) who play in Solo do so for a wide range of reasons and "other players" is not even a factor, so these "experiences" you talk about, in some cases, are not even an option let alone something magical you personally think they are missing.

Fairy Nuff.

But be mindful that a lot of pilots simply don't want to interact with other players. So it's not always worrying about having to fight. Those experiences that you enjoy aren't enjoyable for all.

I think theres a fair bit of that going on in me as well, seeing how I picked exploring as a profession.

I too spend a lot of time in game not wanting to deal with other players. I actually picked my homebase from 1.2 to 1.3 based on the fact that I really didn't want to see other folks that much. My system was Hip 80242, I almost never saw CMDR's there. Definitely no griefing, and I almost never spoke to other players when I did see them (when I didn't feel like it ). Fact of the matter is, there are several thousand? systems in Human Occupied Space, seems to me to be plenty of room to avoid people if you want to, while staying in Open.

Ok, what are these reasons? I'm not trying to be a jerk, legitimately wondering. I switch to Private Groups for CG's because of lag, thats one reason.

1) Roleplaying, when I play in Group or Solo I play a specific way. I use my voiceattack interact with my ship and do my thing.

2) So when in group, I play with like minded "Anti-PVP" players who reject the PVP aspect of any game.

3) being able to park outside a space station and watch TV without a Jerk blowing me up just for giggles

4) my family, as I may have to go AFK for minutes without notice and do not have the time to watch the screen every 30 seconds.

and the list goes on

A variety of RL reasons, the specifics of which have no relevance here.

Understandable.

In my opinion, it is unfortunate they will not experience the rush of fighting another player, or being interdicted by Pirates. Real Life gets in the way of farrrr too many things these days.

Just a point of info...you can use the debug camera in Open. It works in all modes of the game.

My roleplaying is me flying a spaceship. I sort of understand the choice not to engage in PvP, but I don't see how one could convince anyone PvP is a bad thing for those who are willing. I too have a family, a particularly annoying one, and frequently have to go afk. I have had a ship blown up outside of George Lucas because I was parked and not paying attention, and it wasn't that big of a deal.

I appreciate your perspective and input.

<pokes head out of cupboard> That sort of rush I simply don't need - is that another reason?

Yes! That's a reason. Playing to relax, not to get kicked in the pants by adrenaline and stress. I understand this point, and agree with it.

Some of them, like me, have been playing on-line games for a couple of decades or so, they have the experiences.;) I'm sure there are some former Imms and Spods kicking around here.

Last I heard, the Devs had turned off the 4k (Alt + F10) screenshots in Open, as it was causing lag.
Not seen a patch note saying it was back on, so are you sure on that? (going to test this myself btw)
