Frontier, you guys should play the Witcher 3...

Ok, sorry but I just have to step in here, people are seriously saying the game doesn't look great? In what universe is this not jaw-dropping? (warning 1080p pics)

And these are screenshots I made myself on my PC, not marketing material.

That aside, the comparison in the OP isn't very pertinent, as stated the two are very different games... But I do understand what the OP means, and I too hope for more handmade content in ED, on top of all the procedural generation stuff. But the comment regarding the free soundtrack isn't fair ; just because one game did it doesn't mean they all should.

What about the combat system in Witcher 3, it's terrible. Strong attack, weak attack and dodge. That's it, it's pitiful.
Maybe Dark Souls 1 spoiled me.

Add to that, the Division. Frigging Ubi. They keep delivering crap, and I come back for more :p

Not heard of that one, but then I'm behind the gaming times as I've got a backlog that never seems to get any smaller! Far Cry is my favourite Ubi franchise, but I've got a few others to play like AC: Black Flag as well, which I've heard is great fun.

So I am eagerly looking forward to more Division news at E3. Almost as much as new Elite news :)

I'm actually not bothered about Elite news now. After anticipating Powerplay and all the hype that it was going to literally be a 'game changer', I just don't want to look forward to any more of Frontier's promises.

I'd rather just form an opinion once I see the actual content now, and then judge whether I thin it's worth coming back to the game for it at the time. I think that way, I'll be less upset if it's not what I wanted to see.

Rogue sytem looks real cool...but if it takes a half hour to fire up your ship everytime you want to play...Im not sure I'd want to play that real of a sim.

From watchin a bit of YouTube demo of it, it seems there is an onboard computer that you can programme to do things for you and leave you control of the ones you want. I think that's right:

It's a study level sim, like the aircraft you buy for FSX. Not for everyone, but to be honest all those people who have forked out for hotas joysticks and upgraded hardware for ED - once they start having a look at stuff like DCS World....

If I had the PC version I would entertain the idea, but I got W3 for the PS4, sold it in disgust, and don't really fancy buying it again :)

Surprising you didn't like it, I bought it for my PS4 and I've put close to 100hrs in it, awesome rpg. The writing and quests have really moved me at times. Loving it

After reading your comments the only conclusions i can reach are:

1) You are one of the world's only blind video game enthusiasts.
2) Your PC is older than God's dog.
3) You are lying to generate a reaction, and in fact haven't played the Witcher 3

At 34 years of age, after gaming from the age of 6, and being owner of both console and high spec gaming PC, i can honestly say that Witcher 3 is one of the best games i have ever played in my life. In fact i think its one of the best games ever made. Its my personal belief that if you don't like the Witcher 3, you should seek immediate help. :)

The ultimate sign of insanity, would be someone saying that ED is a better game than the Witcher 3. I love ED, but there is just no comparison, and to be fair they are totally different games.

This doesn't make sense. I haven't played The switcher 3. I also didn't play 2. I hated 1. Repetitive, poorly designed combat system, and distasteful content throughout. Turned me away from the entire series.

So from that perspective, ED is entirely a better game.

Ah, thanks. I only just started looking into it. :)

I played FSX to death over the years, and still like to occasionally, although I play more DCS stuff now. So Rogue System would be something I'd give a go.

I got witcher 3 with my new GTX 960 which I bought for Elite......I am pinging between both games as they are very different. I tend to make more comparisons between Elite and Freelancer 2 - which was the very last good space sim I played before this new era. I sorta get the connection though - Elite is crying out for a more interesting, immersive universe and less of that mini game feeling - derelict ships, massive container ships, colonization ships, distress calls, comets, I want some of that old Elite and Freelancer 2 mystery. I keep going back to realising that the game is still new and they did an amazing job of getting it to where it is so quickly.

Shaamaan, you're comparing a themepark adventure with a sandbox game. Of course a hand crafted, heavily scripted game will provide more content for people who prefer that over making up their own mind and set their own goals.

I really tried to like the original Witcher and Witcher 2, but they're not RPGs.

A third person game that predetermines my characters looks and name whilst force-feeding me victory over victory is an action adventure, not an RPG.

I completely agree that Elite is becoming more and more focused on people filling progress bars, and I diligently fill them, but at least it's a game I can play in VR and I can do what I want (within its more and more limited boundaries).

Have to say Witcher hasn't grabbed my interest, even though I'm sure it's a wonderful and interesting game. It's the over the shoulder view that turns me off, and I think the characters voice as well.

Grimrock 2 was the last and best RPG I've played for a long time. Finally finished it today as well (got a bit stuck on the last boss fight and put it aside for too long). Awesome game.

Exactly, OP would want a guided space adventure - - - victory after victory to glorious victory. I guess not enough glory for OP in ED, eh?
