Am I the wrong type of player for this game?

It happened in space, not in the no fire zone.

That's just annoying gameplay. It doesn't even make sense. A wanted target rammed you, it died, and you get a bounty for murder? You were about to murder them anyways with lasers but suddenly ramming is a crime.

Remember, this is a game. Game's are supposed to be fun. Waiting 10 minutes for your shields to recharge, isn't fun. If you have a Python, FDL, or an Anaconda in 1.3 you will have felt this pain. Warping out and back in was an exploit, glad it's fixed, but now we need something else (besides scb) to bring it back in line.

Wouldn't a larger shield generator recharge the shield faster? Usually that is how it works in sci-fi.

9. In the galaxy map I'm always using "fastest route" and "realistic view". This sould be saved, so I don't have to select these options again everytime I log in.

Here's a trick if you're having trouble keeping them in your sights (which I do have a problem with). Go to 50% reverse. That has helped me immensely. Sure, they can start getting to long range. When that happens, hit the afterburners to close the gap. If they start running, go to full speed ahead, boosting as well until you get to fighting range.

Don't go into knife fighting range in anything bigger than an eagle, sidewinder, (or maybe a Diamondback scout. Don't know about the maneuverability of the scout). Most of these NPC's will run circles around you if you get to or within knife fight range.

update to 1. In the same system a ship got in my way while I was shooting at a pirate in outer space. I didn't have a lock on this ship, it got hit by only one laser burst, but turned evil immediately and started shooting at me. I had to kill it. 6 more days bounty on my head. Does FD want me to stop playing?

10. I lock on a target, bring it in line with my guns and start the K-Warrant Scan. When the target is about 1.5 km near, I lose the lock for no apparent reason and I have to start all over with the scan. Happens all the time.

11. Since firegroups can only have 2 buttons, you need a lot of firegroups if you have several shield cell banks. Would be nice, if you only had to connect 1 scb to a fire button - as soon as this scb is depleted, the program automatically switches to the next.

12. When I started the game, I went to Lave and had 6 pirate sytems near. Now, they're all gone (controlled by Federation or Alliance). But the galaxy map still says "Anarchy". It's really hard to find new actual anarchy systems this way.

13. It's a bit boring to find conflict zones, if you have to scan every single system (long wait) and check out the status of the stations. Would be nice, if conflict zones were indicated in the galaxy map (or did I miss something?).

A swordfish bi-plane took down the Bismarck didn't it? Was there some moaning about comparative investment? I expect so!

No, a swordfish bi-plane took out the Bismarck's rudder, making it unable to change course for several hours which allowed Allied ships to be able to catch it easier. That swordfish didn't sink that battlewagon; It was instrumental in it's sinking, but it didn't sink it.

Can't you imaging something between performing a space ballet and sitting still?
Before 1.3 they didn't sit still, but they fought. Now they don't fight, but just buzz around my nose. This simply isn't my idea of an exciting joust.

You obviously haven't fought an Elite NPC. They do everything they can to get on your tail and they fire at you with deadly accuracy. I'm only at the Novice combat rank and I've killed Elite NPC's both before and after the 1.3 update. It is much much harder to do it after the update (which is good). Before the update, I'm thinking, "This is an Elite pilot? Maybe competent, but nowhere near Elite. Not so after the 1.3 update. I've had several that have jumped out when I'm getting the best of them. These Elites in 1.3 seriously want to win; they are Elite pilots. I've had to tuck tail and run from the fight a few times as they took my shields and quite a bit of my hull as well, one taking my canopy out (Thank the stars I had fitted an A class Life Support). But as I said in an earlier post, use 50% reverse thrust. You can usually keep them in your sights then although they will get out of your arc occasionally.

Someone said the shields of the Courier have been nerfed. From the AI couriers I've fought, this doesn't seem to be the case. It takes forever to knock that shield out. And I've never taken out an NPC Elite Anaconda or Python since the 1.3 update and I'm in a DBE. Maybe if I was in a python, but in a DBE, not a chance.

You shoot an innocent ship and he defends himself - how does that make him evil?!
Check your scanner for ships in close proximity and watch your trigger finger in future.

Can't help you with 10. I'm not on that side of the law ;)

When I'm doing merc work in a Conflict Zone, I have multiple shield boosters but only one active at any one time. When one is depleted, I go into the Modules menu and turn the spent one off and a fresh one on. It's very easy to manage and it really saves on powergrid too!

You can view the status of all the factions present in the system from the System Map. Just look for ones in War or Civil War.

lol... yes, I have.

The fights have become more boring. They're not more difficult, but take more time. Give us more bounties/combat bonds and a faster KWS, at least.

If you've fought an Elite after the 1.3 update then you know that these guys seriously want to win. They fight. They fight more like a human than before 1.3. Of course they are going to get on your tail and try to stay there. That's the definition of good tactics. You get an Elite in an Adder or a Cobra, if he will stand and have a slug fest with an ASP or a DBE, then he is obviously not an Elite. Doing that, he never would have made it that high in the combat ratings. So you think it's boring? I don't. I think it's just good combat tactics. I wish I was that good. But then I'm not an Elite.

If the fight lasts longer is that because NPC's have got better or have you got worse ?.

I agree with some of it.

At the moment i find it hard staying interested in the game, i really like space games.
But i had hopes back when i backed the game for something else then what it is now. now it seems to be turning into "just another mmo" with pretty limited dev work on other parts.

The procedural tech used to generate the galaxy and the stuff in it is pretty dull if what u like is to explore ur surroundings like i do.

I do have hope that maybe they will focus on other stuff at some point.

Some of the other space games on the way could leave elite in the dirt if they dont do something about the gameplay before they come on market.

So why do the fights take longer if NPC's haven't improved.

YES, THEY HAVE IMPROVED!!!

So what? It's irrelevant, THE FIGHTS GOT MORE BORING. Please read again and try to understand. And stop trolling me. To every post I make in this thread of mine you say "no, it's the other way round". Why don't you start a thread of your own where you record the fact that ED is simply fantastic and every critic should burn in hell.

I guess Elite Dangerous tries to attract new players who like MMORG and who don't like to be owned by a player who has worked for months to steer a better ship. But the original Elite was a development game. This contradiction is solved by giving players the impression they can buy better equipment but in the end everything is about the same. If a player like myself can buy a viper (142,931 credits), don't change anything about the modules and go out and kill a Python (56,978,179 credits) easily, then something's wrong.

Uh, you go ahead and try to kill a human python in a viper who knows how to PVP. Go ahead. Try!

A viper doesn't really have a chance against a human python driver if the python knows what they are doing. I mean... there are things the viper can do but... well, it is David vs. Goliath.

I would really like to see ships more of a sidegrade of one another versus gigantic power leaps like they are now.

If you'd stopped slinging insults, accusations and demands for MOD's to save you and answered the points I've raised perhaps I wouldn't still be here disagreeing with you.

But anyway back to the point, now you've agreed that NPC's have improved could you explain how this makes the game more boring ?.
