News David Braben Guest Blog - on Xbox One and CQC

Elite Dangerous needs a lot more content, true. Truer is that expansions should be their main focus. Now, embracing other platforms is a good and natural move in game development to gather more money that would allow more devtime safer to these

That is true but, that Dev time will be split between 2 ports not just one. They're having trouble keeping up with all the bugs since 1.3.

I had so much hope...

So watching the new trailer I was exited for the new CQC then I heard "Play it first on Xbox One" ... *registering* I would swear but that would be against the "mods" rules.... braben... you lie... you said PC comes first! AND! the trailer did not even look like actual game play! what is this braeben? the money man?

The Xbox One version of the game will only improve what the PC players already have!

I had to just laugh out loud... Sry... But you are not able Fix Bugs that WE tested in a Beta Version and now you Work again on a New System. Sure Console have only 1 Hardware specification and will work fine as Client. But your Most Bugs are ServerSide (Missions, RES, PowerPlay, Laags etc...)

And Really a Elite: Dangerous its not a Game for Casual Call of Duty Console Gamer (A Statistic would be Nice how Long the average Game Time is on Console after 3 Months) and that you Insert a CQC shows us that This Gamemode are for Console Casuals (Fast, Short, No BrainMode).

So Next will be PS4 (If Your Microsoft [Get This and This First on Xbox] Contract finished out) and Linux and after this we still have Bugs from 1.3Beta.

On First i hope you sell many Console Copys for more Money to Fix Bugs and Bring new Content but Second i hope you Fail with your Console Version because you Ignore the Bug fixing (With Bug Fixing you earn no Money i know) that exist so long and Reportet so many, many, many Times.

It's already split..they've been working on the console version alongside the Mac version since release.....

As soon as Frontier announced the timed exclusive for xbox we knew what was coming. Now that it is here I am indifferent. They promised not to turn Elite into an arcade style console game, but that it precisely what this is. I get it is about the money and provided I can still play the game I know and love the way I want to play it... Without this arcade nonsense and board game tripe then I am happy. Each to their own, but let's not kid ourselves that this is the game we backed at KickStarter.

I just hope there really is something for everybody, because console gamers generally have a short attention span and to cater for them and those looking for a more long term sandbox will not be an easy task.

Hmmm

Amen to that. Have some Rep +1 from a fellow CMDR who couldn't put it better!:(

Tinman I like you, but is really the vision you had for Elite Dangerous, really? Power-ups, trophies, arena combat? This stuff is so far away from the core vision of Elite it's not even related. Yet again we have another new feature that wasn't run past the DDF, yet again it's another kick in the teeth for the people who paid to fund the kickstarter. This is such poor marketing it beggars belief. Then again, they already have our money so we are worthless to them.

Is this particular aspect of the game my cup of tea? Maybe not, but it makes perfect sense to include with a console release and it will help the game grow in the long run.

I also find it amusing that people complain about the content not being what they want it to be AND at the same time complain about it being released to someone else first. If anything this was the perfect thing to offer as a timed exclusive on Xbox.

They are giving the xbox players a chance to learn to fight. I think its a great idea and it fits well for them

I hope it comes out on ps4 as well i want as many people playing.

as long as we keep getting huge scale updates like we been getting and not getting things dumbed down for console

One (1) timed exclusive....Can we all relax a bit?

I could understand the rage if the XBOX would become the 'lead platform' and receive all updates first, but come-on they just get the 'Arena mode' first...

And will that content arrive on all platforms at the same time or not?

No, it's more likely to hit PC and Mac first as they are the lead development platform. It depends on the content though.

Michael

So please everyone, there is no need to get the pitchforks out. Just chill and let's enjoy E3. I'm looking forward to CQC and hope to see lots of XBOX players here: they are very welcome (and the bags of cash they bring to further the development of Elite: Dangerous is also very welcome :) ).
