What Political Party are you?

Alliance Democratic Corporation then.

My character was born in an (at the time) independent system but grew up in the Federation, joined the navy and got swept up in a series of misadventures mainly caused by other people's political scheming and greed. Now he retired from active duty and decided to work with and for the Alliance which is the last true hope of human freedom in an increasingly oppressive and secretive galaxy.

Short and sweet.

Organization is the choice of how you think the world should be, not how it currently is. What the overall goal you strive for. It is what your power is used to achieve. The belief that holds your organization together.

-Political: Members of this group are actively involved in furthering there political agenda.
-Corporation: Members of this group are actively involved in increasing there economic power.
-Dictator: Members engage in authoritarian activities to establish and maintain power.
-Democrat- Members all have a say in what activities the group works towards.
-Unfettered: Members engage in an activity they want and no centralized power is recognized.

I beleive Alliance Democaries have the following blurb
Alliance
Democrat:
"A faction that is known for actively following the ideal that all members should be able to influence how their organisation operates"
The link in my seignture contain a collection of the various faction Descriptions

The Federation Republican Consternation Indoctrination Party.
I'm forty-seven. Forty-seven years old. You know how I stayed alive this long? All these years? Fear. The spectacle of fearsome acts. Somebody steals from me, I cut off his hands. He offends me, I cut out his tongue. He rises against me, I cut off his head, stick it on a pike, raise it high up so all on the streets can see. That's what preserves the order of things. Fear.

awesome. Checking out that link in your sig right now. Much appreciated.

I grew up above LHS 3447 A 2 on the Trevithick Dock spaceport. My parents where stardry merchants and did pretty good supplying the roughneck miners that came through.

Then, the LHS 3447 civil war began back in January of 3301. I heard the fight was over mining rights between the Future of LHS 3447 party and the LHS 3447 Corporation. Neither were willing to back down. Words lead to fists in the null-gee bars, which lead to skirmishes between aligned pilots, which lead to full scale war. The Federation provided little help - Galnet reported they were busy with the civil war in Lugh. All they could provide was a few outdated and outgunned Vipers? Traders still died. Always hoping to hit the big score before the next interdiction. Everyone is always trying to better themselves, but no one seemed to make it.

I took my used Sidewinder and decided to see if this was true all over. It didn't take long for me to realize a lot (A LOT) of systems are slaves to the Federation. Sure, they don’t use the word ‘slave’, but what else do you call it when you compare the riches of Sol to Rugai? You think that tax revenue is being evenly distributed? Corporations just get bigger. And the outer systems just get more screwed. Backward, over-taxed systems with minimal Fed support. Places where life is short and piracy is rampant. Places that promised, but never delivered a future for it's citizens. The Fed is ruled by hypocrites.

I spent some time in Alliance space, too, and didn't see much of a difference from the Fed. People in the Alliance had even more problems to deal with, such as TheCode interdicting everyone trying to make an honest living near Lave, Diso, etc...

Finally, I visited the Empire to see if it was different and things clicked. I saw Beauty and Grace. I saw Order. I saw an opportunity for Advancement. I saw Citizens who were valued as Contributors and understand their place in society. Anyways, that’s my two Imperial coins on the matter. I hope by the ancients Gods of Sol that you all wake up and see the truth, too. Read the works of Duval, founder of the Empire, and be enlightened.

The Empire is a socially and technologically primitive collective of regressive-minded knuckle draggers that should've been crushed long ago. They're heavily reliant on vast armies of slave labor to stay militarily and economically competitive with the Federation, and their society as a whole fundamentally structures itself on the basis of quaint, uninspired quasi-Roman functions. They are the antithesis of the meritocratic, forward-thinking principles that drive fair, progressive governments along.

So, I'm aligned with Felicia Winters. She's the only sensible power in the game, even if she's an archetypal, mundane analogue of contemporary Western progressivism. Everyone else is basically a radical, a rebel, a warmonger, or something else totally stupid and off-the-wall.

I would respond explaining how the slave labor of the Empire (and I'm referring to Imperial Slaves) serve an agreed upon term in order to pay off their debts and rejoin society as honored Citizens. These are contracts that are willingly entered into. These contracts have expiration dates. This is a far better approach than the eternal servitude your outer systems are slaved to for your home worlds and corporations via ever increasing taxation and ever decreasing representation in your political processes.

As a 'knuckle dragger', however, you lost me with all your big words so I'm unable to respond...

Awesome. Any particular reason you picked this party? What exactly drew you to these beliefs?

I was scorned by the federation. Did my best to rise in the ranks until the day I stumbled across a shipment of slaves floating about in space. The attempt of ferrying said slaves back to a black market ended up with me having a hefty bounty on my head. Thus I sought refuge in the empire, and making my fortune selling indentured servants ;) .

I've always liked the idea of a strong government that resembles ancient Rome and I also value the way the senate works, hence my favoring of the political scene.

We have all been recently asked to make a choice on who we would like to follow. While I understand that some people will choose to allie with whoever they think is the best, most of us will choose who agrees with our ideologies. But most of us have no idea what our political party even is. We think of the choice between the 3 major powers but there are 3 categories of which, Allegiance is only one. In this topic I would like to discuss political parties and how to find out just what political party you belong to.

Lets start with the categories.

-Allegiance
-Organization
-Government

Allegiance is the choice between the different major powers in the universe. Currently there are 4 Different choices in this category.

-Alliance: The Alliance of Independent Systems is a loosely organized galactic governance that believes independents should not be forced to join the empire or the Federation. There were formed out of a necessity to protect there self interests from the growing reach of other galactic powers. They mostly operate independent of one another and normally only come together in the defense of there territory.
Militarily, the cooperation is successful. Each member system contributes a portion of its navy to the Alliance Defense Force. The Council of Admirals is unified and has powers to act swiftly without government approval. Vessels of the Alliance generally bear the decals of their own navy, but display an additional Alliance Defense Force decal while operating with the unified naval force. The Alliance was formed circa 3230 AD in Alioth, and portrays itself as a beacon of human rights and democracy in an increasingly autocratic universe. It does not conform to the political ideals of the totalitarian Empire, or the authoritarian Federation and there is much cultural variation among its members. This, however, means they often struggle to achieve political agreement. The presidency changes annually around its member systems.

-Empire: Imperial society is based on a "cliens" system - much like ancient Rome - and strictly stratified, with people being able to move between strata based on money, patronage and influence. It values both status and honor very highly. Whilst it is acceptable to flaunt wealth, treating people well is a question of honor - and this includes slaves. Having an unpaid debt is seen as utterly dishonourable - an honourable Imperial citizen would sell themselves into slavery to clear a debt they couldn't otherwise afford. The Empire is less technologically dependent than the Federation, choosing to keep and employ slaves for the work which machines would usually perform in other parts of the universe. The Empire is also a proponent of human cloning, a topic which the other factions find abhorrent and have officially banned within their own. The Imperial Law is seen and enforced by Senators who themselves are above the law. They can order executions, and can even kill people themselves, though sometimes (rarely) they may be held to account for their actions by the Emperors. In the Empire very little is illegal, but many things are frowned upon, like excessive use of narcotics.

-Federation: The Federation is the oldest of the three major Factions in the universe. The planet Earth, birthplace of humankind, is the historic capital of the Federation and regarded as the centre of human-inhabited space. The Federation is highly dependent on technology and is economically and socially Corporate. In the period of rebuilding after the end of World War 3 on Earth (circa 2044-2055AD) it was the corporations who became powerful and dominant. In modern times it is the corporations who are the life-blood and backbone of the Federation. It is rumored that these corporations have such influence and power that they can even direct the Federal Government. Perhaps even to the point deciding who to elect as President. Corruption and bribery are rife in the Federation and law enforcement has been known to turn a blind eye if the price is right. The relationship between the Federation and the Alliance is one of tolerance. The relationship between the Federation and the Empire is one of deep hostility.

Overall the relationship between the Federation and the Alliance is one of tolerance. The relationship between the Federation and the Empire is one of deep hostility.

-Independent: independents are just what they say they are. They are not aligned with any major power and have no interest in them at all. They are self serving and do what they deem necessary. They are all different.

Government is the choice of how power is distributed.

While very similar to Organization and having some overlaps in ideals. It is very different. A corporation for example is created to make money. But how they distribute power to accomplish that goal can be very different. A Democratic Corporation might have a vote to determine the best strategy to use on the market. While a Dictator Corporation will make money by enforcing there will on others, seizing power and squeezing money out of it.

There are so many different Government types that I will not go into a long description of them at this time.
Of note though, is Anarchy. The state of no government. Many uninhabitated systems fall under this catagory and most of those who are unfettered who gain control of a system will also institute anarchy.

So if you can figure out which three choices you would make that is your political party. I am a free man. I don't believe we need anyone telling us what we can and can't do. My choice for Allegiance is Independent. My choice for organization is Unfettered. And my choice of Government is Anarchy.

That makes my political party The "Independent Unfettered Anarchist" party.

What party are you?

Proper Anarchist? If so *high five comrade*

Edit: no trading slaves though, no self respecting Anarchist exploits another's freedoms for their financial and political gain.

Strictly independent...
But I am General Secretary of the SANWPPF

the Socialistic Anarchistic Nationalistic Workers Peoples Party Front.

It's main goal is to secure that I am well fed, can live in luxury, have lots of wine and women, drugs and rock and roll and party. Especially party.:p

The party is actively seeking members
;)

Cheers Cmdr's

PS. same as PP , except I cant offer rewards :D

Hmm, lets see...

Would say an unfettered, imperial Traditionalist, or corporate, imperial Traditionalist.

My Character believes in the Empire and the Ways of the Empire (no problem with trading Imperial Slaves). I could say my character is into politics, but thats half a lie. Cause he is only so far engaged as it serves the own interrest - like profits. Therefore, profits, traditional, empire -> Zemina Torval - my PP Choice.

One of the groups The Black Flag is allied with, are the Sobek Boys. They are Alliance Unfettered Anarchists. This makes them unique as they are all for the alliance and support them fully, but any system they control will be an anarchy. While I fight for Archon Thane, after awhile you can't even land in some systems with a high enough bounty. During those times that I need to lose the heat, I head to Sobek and try to help them gain control, and spread to other systems.

So if you like the Alliance, but want to be a pirate, you could support The Sobek Boys and accomplish both.

Great post :) really enjoyed reading it.

As for me? I'm as yet undecided...I'm leaning toward Fed - Hudson. But it's more of a gut feel rather than concrete decision.

I have no problem with the Alliance or the Empire. The Federation is a different story. There laws are so great that they must be enforced through violence. They are so rich they can afford to ignore those in need. They are so large that the don't bother to swat at flies.

I am aligned to no political party. I hate politicians in game and in real life. Do not support them, they will only tax you afterwards.
