Can the beta-backers have a little private meeting?

That's the main thing for me too. I want the stuff from the ddf. I feel like they've sidelined all that stuff for Powerplay and CQC neither of which was in the ddf.

If I was a pure pve player I'd be even more angry as the current mission content and mechanics are woefully lacking.

I'm expecting the ddf stuff to either be in a paid expansion...

or......

never see the light of day. Just depends on my cynicism level on a given day!

Sometimes in life you have to do things that you are not proud of to get on.

Just remember FD..... "Wash it after".

Hope it helps to expand the proper game for the rest of us. Good luck with it.

Wow thank you for your psot. I was about to write something about "old farts" basically complaining about a game developed in 2015 not giving them what they felt in 1984. It's nice to see opinions like yours around!

This "old fart" has his feet firmly placed on the ground.

But they'd better implement all the features I want by September or i'll rage quit :)

I'm looking forward to it actually, with the xbox release we might get some 360 controller vibration support. I'm also curious as to what the updated controller ui will look like.

An announcement is always last second, that last second being the one right before you do the announcement. It's the point of it: if people knew already, there would be no announcement.
What are you asking for? A thread where every day they give us a hint until the final announcement, with no surprise whatsoever because we would already know what's going on?
XBO Has been around for a while, including from FD official sources. The arena thingy as been discussed a lot on this forum due to some findings in the game files mentioning it.

Obviously, to the first point. Unless mind reading kicks in quick. Going by that they didn't know they were going to release it until the second before they said it.

The CQC thing was what I was getting at, not the xbox release as a whole.

We paid to be Alpha/Beta backers before the launch of the game and to get early access pre 1.0. Others including myself joined the kickstarter to make sure the game got made in the first place.
The fact that we still get beta access after 1.0 is just a bonus/chore depending on your point of view of bug hunting and was never part of the original agreement.
FD could have quite easily gone to a closed beta for updates but instead gave us access to the patches and a test server.

I don't think we are missing out in any shape or form on this, even with the elevated amount I've paid I certainly got my monies worth in this last year and a half since the Beta arrived.
However things like this need to happen because of the payment model they have chosen, 90% of players are no longer giving them money and playing for free. On PC the game has probably reached saturation point at least until the first paid expansion.
So new formats and exclusive deals with microsoft are what gets you free patches 1.4 onwards to the first paid expansion.

This is getting too confusing. Can you guys let us know what you are angry about?

A) CQC is a terrible addition and should never be part of ED.
B) CQC is a fantastic addition and we should play it before XB1 players.
C) Both.
d) I don't know, I have been angry for so long I keep forgetting the cause.

e) Angry? Huh?

I think any outrage is unfair. CQC is like PP you never have to play. They are making a massive universe and filling it with content. Not all content do you have to play and not all content will be for you. So lets keep it in perspective, as long as they continue to add stuff, keep it open world were you can do anything you want, what is the problem??

Pretty much this.

Especially point #4, although I could care less about having access to this module, my concern is how bare bones the game has been since November and hoping, week after week, update after update, we would finally see some of that furniture Mr Braben talked about being added now that the foundations had been laid.

Have you ever thought Mr Braben might be a minimalist ;)

What bothers me is watching the Xbox trailer it's clear they had a lot of people working on it. It's polished and adds voice work and new assets. Compared to Power Play which looks like it could have been put together by 3 guys in the back room. Honestly, everything for the PC since the game engine was completed looks like it only has three people working on it. Would explain the bare minimum gameplay features that have been added since.

Dunning-Kruger say Hi.

Hello everyone,

I'm a (premium?) beta backer (September 2014, don't know on which level that puts me... ) and got informed about the existence of CQC by this very thread... looks like I'm not quite up to date, right?

Strange thing, when watching the trailer for this new aspect and remembering the WINGS trailer (version 1.2 IIRC) I don't get angry at all... in fact, I feel a little bit sorry for the people who buy ED on the assumption that they buy a fast-paced arcade space shooter full of guns blazing and missiles buzzing around you... for I don't see how this game can be what they hope for!

Of course that may be a very personal and non-representative impression, but so far I've never had a single moment during gameplay that came even close to the breakneck speed and "action density" (don't know how to better express that) which is conveyed by the two trailers mentioned... and to make it perfectly clear: I'm fine with that! BUT won't those new customers feel a bit betrayed? WINGS was a nice addition to the game, but gameplay reality and trailer impressions were lightyears apart... even considering advertising standards it felt a wee bit dirty. If I assume the same difference between actual and advertised gameplay concerning CQC, then there might be quite a bunch of disappointed customers from the console community!

So no, I'm in no way angry about the Xbox players getting their hands on the arena mode first... I truly hope it will be what they want from the game.

So, today there was an announcement (=not quiet)...... have you seen the forums?

Wonder why they don't do this very often?
No Ian, the problem is they don't do it enough. If Frontier had been telling us about CQC, people would have been excited for it, hype would have been built up, yes people would have complained, it's called FEEDBACK, the feature would have been tweaked and people would have been happier. People without XBox's would have said much much earlier "hey what about us?" and this whole rage all in one go would have been placated over many months.

But no, Frontier think the best business model is to keep things to themselves, keep their customers in the dark, and spring this stuff on us suddenly after months of nothing, and wonder why there is all this rage on the forum.

All joking aside, how can FD possibly 'listen to the beta-backers' when the feedback is so completely schizophrenic? When I saw the outrage when people assumed there would be an arena mode it never occured to me there'd be an equal outrage when you couldn't be the first to play it. Sure, in any group people have different opinions but when so many beta-backers say arena mode is for consoles, doesn't it make sense they release it to consoles first? Isn't that, ironically, an example of them listening to you?

Well, it's not worth getting the xbox one for that. If it's coming to the PC later, fine, looks fun, and possibly take some of the (non-CG) PvP out of the PvE Open, and looks like it's easy to ignore as it'll be separate waypoints and space areas to fly around, so anybody against it can just fly past it in SC.

No point getting the underwear tied up in knots over features like this or PP that can be ignored with no issues.

How much content do you have to ignore before you might as well ignore the whole game? (For me it was three major "content" updates, none of which offered me much of anything. YMMV)

While DDF is significant, those who took part in it are far from being a majority and I don't see why their wishes are more legitimate than wishes of other players.

DDF isn't significant any more - FD don't need our opinions :)

I also have noticed a common misconception : The DDF were simply people who gave an opinion on a topic selected by FD. The DDA is a collection of very good ideas given by FD, commented on by the DDF, and for some people should be a feature list but sadly is just a wish list. C'est la vie.
