Can the beta-backers have a little private meeting?

Another question on CQC - they describe it as "instant action" so, where is it!? Is this proving ground in one central place that people have to actually fly to if they want to participate in it?

Or have they completely broken that aspect of ED too - and you will simply be able to access it from anywhere?

From the lead-up in GalNet News, it's probably going to be at a single Federation training base, at least to begin with.

CQC Concept - Love it. The game needed something like this for those of that want consensual PvP and don't want to have to do the space equivalent of hanging around dodgy areas of the city looking for some 'action'.

CQC execution - Hate it. It obviously been in the works for a while and aimed toward XBox One. FD marketing is making a hash of brand loyalty at every step. Alpha/Beta backers and expansion pass purchasers have plenty of reason to be miffed/offended by the insulting £5 to spend on game merchandise if you fork out again for the game you have already bought.

FD - we realise you don't own the channel, but something better for your backers please! I'd prefer this on PC at the same time as XBox. PowerPaly should have been shelved in preference to this (at least in my opinion).

But do you care really FD? You get the big XBox One announcement you and Microsoft wanted.

So, is it "instant action" or isn't it? If your commander is at the core - will you have to spend 10 hours getting there, or will you have magical insta-transport, just for this feature?

I am just fearful , what if over time the game gets dumbed down and the graphics start to lower , what if in the future the Xbox gets tones of extras we dont get?

This is such a overused argument. So the Cobra engine scales to run on a Macbook Air, on that awful integrated graphics and no one bats an eyelid.

Elite Dangerous also scales to run on a decent budget gaming PC running windows and direct X (XBOX1) and people fly into rages about downgraded graphics.

There's the possibility of it being a new game mode. So you select it from the menu. I'd actually be interested to see a mode where you can experiment with the different ships and weapon setups care of the federation's check book.

You'll have to go there, in Open, and then dock to take part.

I can see it now. "Thank for for entering the CQC. You are number 4,769 in the docking queue. Your custom is important to us and a docking position will be available as soon as possible. While you wait, please review our gaming merchandise on this handy in-screen browser".

Has that been stated? I hope that is the case (well, having to go there, I seriously doubt you'd have to travel in Open), but I wonder how that will tie in with their claim of "instant-action PVP combat in the Elite: Dangerous galaxy".

There's an old galnet article referring to the VR-Stream CQC - it's a video game inside the elite universe. So they teased awhile ago.

EDIT: Found it.

I think what is meant by that is that it will be a place where you can just find actual humans to fight against. Being as otherwise it's kind of hard to find people.

EDIT: That sounds really interesting actually Rall, I would love to see that article.

I will take e) Being angry that PP bonuses and RES are not working properly and the heads of the company leave for an expo to announce that xbox users pay less than retail for early access while we payed more than retail.

It's a miracle...

Hi everyone,

Powerplay update 1.3.04 is incoming at around 11:30am (BST).

Client change log:

- Fixed low skilled ships appearing in RES points and conflict zones

Thanks,

That's because either you've not been part of the Solo/Private Group/Open mega threads or just ignored them.

The main argument for a while was Solo and Groups destroy any chance of PvP in Open. So it was suggested by myself and some others to ask FDev for an arena, so PvPers had what they wanted.
But as was suspected, those moaning did not (and do not) want a fair fight PvP mode, they just want to gank people who are not interested in PvP.

Not really. The main argument that has been here long before that sprang up is a lack of content for all players across the board, not just PvPers.

Thinking about it though, I think this arena combat module is the kind of thing that Star Citizen has embraced too; competitions, sports etc. It makes sense to have it in the future as it adds to the immersive living breathing world we were told about in DBs diaries, and having looked at the trailer it looks like immense fun (if we can trust the trailer, but that's another story ;)), so yeah it looks immense fun, packed full of great backdrops, new features, and high-octane content.

It looks like its got more going for it than exploration, which in comparison is one of the most shallow skill-less game mechanics I've ever seen outside of WoW. That's my personal issue with this. This xbone module looks like it'll be extremely fun and engaging gameplay, and a lot of work has gone into it. I hope the guys who made it are put to work now on giving exploration some equally challenging fun and skill, and some content other than the same old procedural systems we've been buzzing since November 22nd last year. To me, the 1:1 scale galaxy was Elite's shining example of how awesome this game was going to be, but at the moment it feels like it was the first thing FD abandoned.

In hindsight, CQC when its released to the PC backers, will at the very least be something completely new to try while they continue to wait for the galaxy as a whole to see some meaningful content and challenge added.

No statement. I just engaged my A6 Sarcasm Drive.

Perhaps it's "instant" once you get there! :)

DB mentioned they're going to cover it in more detail on Wednesday so I guess we'll know then...

As requested the original tease galnet.

Sol Unplugged?

For the first time in almost a decade, Utopixx Entertainment, the subsidiary of Reynhardt Intellisys responsible for some of the top virtual reality experiences in the galaxy, has posted an operating loss of almost 5,000,000,000,000 credits.

Investors were shocked by the news, which saw Reynhardt Intellisys shares drop by almost 14%.

Reynhardt Intellisys has issued the following statement in an attempt to explain the drastic change in profits:

“Overall, uptake of Utopixx products in Independent, Alliance and Imperial markets remains strong. We continue to see a yearly growth rate of between 1 and 2% per sector, which in many cases means that we are exceeding our targets.”

“The losses posted for this year are partly due to the construction of a completely new and extremely exciting line of VR-Streams, which includes the latest instalment in the popular CQC franchise.”

“In-sim purchases within Federal markets have fallen below expected levels, but an analysis of the market suggests that such losses are part of a general downward trend that appears to be affecting a wide range of media companies operating in Federal systems. The cause of this drop-off in purchases remains unclear at this time.”

They're always sneaking stuff like this into galnet feeds.

That! why can't we have that in game damnit!? That kind of stuff is exactly what I've been talking about since I came to the forums.

Hello dudes,

I will try to be objective as possible.
I backed Elite in july for the beta, i think i have more than 800 hours on the game, yes it's a good game the thing is, they lie on what the game will be since the kickstarter, let me explain.

When they said PC is the main platform, it's clearly not true. Since the game is gold (6 months ago) The "majors udpate" was : ok here the wing that's big, now you can make groups with 3 others player (this thing take 3 months to go out) 3 months later the next big udpate, who finally is an interface with the possibility to grind to have rank and kills npc to make point, again for the rank (take another 3 months). And now we are 6 months later, the first thing on E3 on this game is : look, elite on xbox one with exclusive content don't worry this content is available in NEXT FEW MONTHS ON PC.

My point is since Elite was available on PC (in december) they focus on MAC and xbox and give us some broken content on PC, that's the thing...

So, is it "instant action" or isn't it? If your commander is at the core - will you have to spend 10 hours getting there, or will you have magical insta-transport, just for this feature?

I wouldn't be surprised if it appears in the "spawn" system to act as a trainer for new commanders.
