"in coming months we’ll be able to talk about what’s next for Elite: Dangerous on PC and Mac too"

BOOM! HOTSHOTGGSUPERINTELLIGENT ATHEIST CONFIRMED!! All hail our new Trendy Overlord. Ooohhh aaahhh.

Thank you for your input. My message was specifically answering to another post talking about religion to show he was not making a point. Thanks for reading things in their context.

No. In the context of the conversation you stated FDev wasn't releasing information because people would be more combative over that as opposed to the current situation.

I said I think the opposite is true.

And then you replied with the hope that people would basically just calm down on their own.

So I decided to make a little fun of the likelihood of that happening.

Anyway. What I am asking is that FDev manages their community and take it seriously. They are the ones in control here. Expecting the world to just leave them alone and wait patiently for them to do things they have't even acknowledged they will do is unrealistic.

But fair point none the less ;)

Sorry mate i misunderstood. I thought you were saying my request was tantamount to ask people to religiously and faithfully wait and trust FD - which we should all do obviously :D
Anyway yes Frontier may want to put effort into containing rumors/speculations and the like, but it would also be nice to have the community mange itself a little bit. Not getting mad purely based on speculations or on an Xbox event talking about PC for instance ;)

No many cared when PS4 was "pushed to the side", but now they are "pushing PC and Mac to the side" it matters. It's an Xbox show from now on, best get used to it.

You don't know that. The only thing we know is that they talked about Xbox... during an Xbox event. No breaking news here, it's hard to see so many people surprised not to hear about PC for a console event.

Since most people here are invested in the current game on the current platform. It's not that surprising that we don't care too much about either of the new platforms they may or may not bring in. Only that the focus is not on our platform.

I do not care if the Xbox users got ED, I don't really care that they got CQC before us, it doesn't bother me.

What does irk me is the hints about this great announcement not only by Frontier but also by certain people who are privy to their plans and developments. and then hinting to be excited about this ..non event.. Hopes are raised and dashed.

until XBONE is out of beta at least..,..,.......

they know SC will win on PC and no man's sky on ps4 so they are developing for XBONE pretty exclusively PP was proof of that 3 months and look what we got? some pictures.......

I am buying PS4 just for "no man's sky" alone - hopefully a good looking slim model will be out by then :)

You do realise there is a E3 PC conference this evening ... Plenty of time for FD to announce / show other stuff..

Sure. But DB pretty much said they wouldn't in his post. But I suppose that could be part of their "marketing strategy" of "building excitement".

That hasn't really matched their marketing strategy so far though.

"In our biggest update yet, we are adding the most eagerly awaited feature to Elite: Dangerous! HUD Colour Customisation! *Fireworks* *High-Fives*"

Not: "Oh yeah, btw, almost forgot. Planetary Landings. Enjoy."

Very True, but the week seems to already be planned out with no new announcement for the PC (apart from how it works with the XB1 and Mac) .. not saying that nothing won't be said though.

I’m looking forward to meeting the press at E3 this week, and we have a whole week of content for you here on the new Community blog. Tomorrow our Xbox One Producer Gary Richards will be here to talk about bringing Elite: Dangerous to Xbox One, on Wednesday our Close Quarter Combat design team will explain how CQC works, and later this week our Executive Producer Michael Brookes will be here to talk about how the work we’ve put into Elite: Dangerous for Xbox One will feed back into PC and Mac, and make the game even better on every platform.

Pretty much this. No Man's Sky will be the big PS4 space game. Star Citizen will **** on ED when it is released on PC. So, the only thing Microsoft could do was throw money at FDEV to develop E:D on XBone. Must of been a heft sum in order for FDEV to back stab their devoted PC backers. Then again, not surprised...

Yeah, FD concentration on XBO stuff only is either oversight, request by Microsoft (easily could be request for FD to do some lifting) or they decided they don't have anything yet to show.

None of these games have slated release date. NMS despite having 2015 year release date - not having specific release date (most likely Holidays 2015). SC coming in late 2016.

Since they want to earn money they are not going to double the size of their development team. What they are going to do is to take away resources from core-game development and put them into the xbox team, delaying everything else.

And this is exactly what we saw the last couple of weeks with this botched powerplay release. I think most of the devs were put on the XB team to get the CQC beta running for the XB announcement and the PC crew were left with a skeleton crew leaving us with crappy code, multiple bugs and for a good few people, not even being able to play the game.

Don't overstretch yourself, FDev. You'll develop negative rep if you do and this rep won't decay ;).

Note: I don't care about the console version or the features it will get. I was just very disappointed with the quality of the PP release for PC/Mac.

Afaik that is for their new game, DB himself said that we won't be getting any PC news for a couple of months.

Yes. That is what the post said (this one)

This is a great day for Frontier and a great day for Elite: Dangerous, and it’s not the last of our announcements for the week. Tomorrow we’ll announce our new PC game on stage at the E3 PC Gaming Show, and in coming months we’ll be able to talk about what’s next for Elite: Dangerous on PC and Mac too. We have some great things to come; this is just the beginning.

Good grief!

FD, you have ruined my life! How dare you? What am I going to do with my life now? The family dog won't even look at me anymore!

How could you do this?

How?

Oh yeah - and the sky is falling

arghhhhhh

:)

That crystal ball working out for you I see .. Wish I could see in to the future like you do ... Would have the lottery numbers then ...

If you hoestly still believe that FD have 'backstabbed' all the kickstarter backers, then why are you still here, and what have been playing exactly for the last 6 months??

Bottom line is you have no idea what is going to happen to SC or NMS ...

NMS's gameplay looks flaky at best currently, and SC may well end up being bloody good, however its a different type of game to Elite not a competitor, both can easily exist.
