Just chill - with Radio Sidewinder

How many of you listen to Radio Sidewinder (also Radio onionhead), or even know about it.
I listen to it on my travels, great spacey music, great clips and ads.
Forget your stressing about the xbox release, forget E3, just chill.
Nothing better than after a hard days trading, running or fighting the pirates, to sit back and watch the ships come and go into the station, listening to my favourite radio show.
Just put this on your big screen, sit back with a glass of wine or coffee, and CHILL.......

(short clip only, long version is over an hour)

The adverts on there are getting up my nose at the moment (trying out SomaFM Space Station instead at the moment).

How about an internet radio / media player on the dashboard of our ships? I'd love that.

Yeh, i wish FD would incorporate radio into the game with a dashboard radio, similar to what they did in GTA series.
But i give all credit to the guys behind these radio stations, excellent work and well appreciated.

I love Radio Sidewinder, but I do keep wishing there was a sister station that focused on more pulse-pounding music so I could change between them as needed. The ads could all transfer over, the GalNet news just needs to be tweaked a bit to fit the other station name (Radio Cobra?) etc...

I've just started listening to radio Sidewinder and I think it's really bloody good. I used to listen to Lave radio live and although I enjoyed it, I prefer Sidewinder.

The big difference between the two from my experience is that Lave radio looks at the ED universe from the outside in, where Sidewinder Radio is inside the game and adds to the player immersion.

Yep - that is the big selling point for me. I already read way too much about the game from an outside-in perspective on the forums, don't need that in my radio ;)

Currently playing

Gregor Schwellenbach - Kölsch

- nice groove

ETA - thumping bass line, classic house piano riff with some sweet strings on top, Hits the spot!

I use it with voice attack, and VLC player, i just ask for the radio station i want and it plays, and saying turn off radio, and it's off. There are some great ready made profiles out there for music and radio too.
Almost as good as having it built into your ship.
Even has Galnet news bulletins.

Same setup as I got. I have some home-made "Awesome mixes" for specific moods too.

ohh yeah. :)

I was able to add Radio Sidewinder to Frontier-Silicon so am able to listen to it on my Roberts internet radio but I can't add it to my main audio system since that's an Onkyo AV receiver and it user vTuner (which has rubbish website) or only a short number of characters for direct address entry (I haven't the faintest how to add a station to my Pure internet radio). Do you have a short URL link to the stream?

Also - Sidewinder's now playing text doesn't update on my Robert's - just shows what was playing when tuned in. Any fix for this?

I used to listen a lot. Heck, even in the car with the app. I stopped because I got so burnt out on all the interviews and ingame adds. It was really annoying to hear the stupid Mercs of Mecun.

"The thargoids did nothing wrong, i tell you...NOTHING WRONG"

Yeah no, I'm done for a while.

More music...less RP stuff.

Moreso, I think they just need more content. Which seems directly tied to the enthusiasm of the community since it is volunteer based submissions.

Oh the RP content is great, it just needs to be rotated out more frequently (as do the songs, I almost get into a trance not realizing I heard X song so many times)

They need to tone down the interview and ingame adds a little. Other then that it is a good station.

I disagree. I can get music anywhere, don't need Sidewinder for that. I think it has the right mix of music and talk but needs different music... Not so much spacing out trance type stuff
