Powerplay "open play" only ? Yes or No ...
Elite want's us to engage in PVP.
Here's a quote from newsletter #72:

"The Pilots Federation waives all penalties for engaging invaders in combat during times of war, so you'll have license to attack anyone from a rival power in your own territory without incurring a bounty. We're giving players a reason to engage in PVP against supporters of other factions, and a chance to feel like part of a team even if you prefer to play alone.
Wy is it posible to contribute in Powerplay when you are playing in a Private server ????
I want to be able to stop the players bringing propaganda to my faction.
Pls say if you agree or not.

Simple, its the same reason why Witcher 3 is only SP and LoL is only MP. You can't build a game for both worlds, or if you do, you cant have the same world shared by both. Frontier are trying to please everyone, but IMHO they are failing on both fields instead of being the best in one, which is sad because they could..

There's a big discussion on this in the groups thread. And while I used that very quote to say PvP is encouraged in PP and want there to be merits awarded for killing dem bandits who're NOT supporting the Space Khaleesi I can only disagree with you.
The systems needs tweaked, not made exclusive.

Agreed. The game needs to be open play only. Otherwise, it's just imbalanced, and well, dumb. FD keeps shooting themselves in the foot every chance they get. This has just been one of the longer lasting issues.
Yes, everyone should play it YOUR way.
lol, the only reason people play solo is to be safer and have less risk. It's not as if you can log in and have your own universe sandbox constructed on your machine and play it by yourself, you still have to log in to a server. Everyone should be on an equal footing. Playing this game should be risky. It should be what makes this game ED, the amount of risk involved from other players. Single handedly the most adrenaline pumping moments in this game are encounters with other humans. Remove solo play.
And like they said, they want to encourage PvP, removing solo play is best way.

There are quite a few players who have to play solo because of bandwidth and poor Internet connectivity. It gives them a chance to play this game.

Ironically I agree with the OP to a certain extent that there's an inherent imbalance between Open and Group/Single, but I no way support the idea of Solo or Group players suffering. So I'm in favour of tweaking some things (as you know) but I'm nowhere near as draconian and sympathise with those who wish to play Solo or Group.

It should be but, it won't. The best we can hope for is better balance and maybe more incentive to engage in pvp for PP.
I'm willing to wager that most people playing this game have sufficient enough connection. Those that don't are likely a minority. In the Empire, the majority rules, and the minority is crushed, and eradicated.
Long live the Emperor, praise be unto him and his quest to remove solo play.
Admittedly it does suck a little being worked against by people you have no chance of seeing and as such no means to oppose. (wonky instancing aside)
But then again, people shouldn't be unwillingly forced into a pvp environment, though arguably signing up for PP is signing up to compete against other players

i really dislike the interconnection between solo and open, it just don't feel right and i would like it gone, especially now since PP has been introduced,
but i also realize that what what the enemy can do me in solo i can also do them, and that makes the system fair so i can't make a case against it.
