What just happened? O.o

High ranks I want to boost loads (I'm just getting warmed up), low ranks made easier. I'd like a nice wide spread of abilities so that you'll definitely be able to tell the difference between a Harmless ship and an Elite.

how about the diversion of ranks regarding the system security. will you place the more deadlier ranks into anarchy/rebel/civil war systems and the easier ranks to secure/democratic etc. systems? Like it was in the original elite, or is the placement of where what ranks apear not your job?

No cheating, just heavily revised tactics and a few bug fixes to AI pip management (means their shields are stronger and they balance power distribution much better) and shooting accuracy. Makes them a little more capable, especially in the tactics. They now hound players a lot more than they used to.
More updates are already in the pipeline, as well as a little balancing...

Well I had my first real taste of this when me and a friend went into a high intensity conflict zone last night. It was madness! So much less about farming and so much more about tactics.

It was constant combat. You had to watch the radar so you didn’t get isolated. You had to try to find a big target already engaged with one or two from your side. The best next target is no longer the big ship 8KM away, instead it’s that eagle right behind you. And always save your last SCB charge for the running away.

I have to say it’s the best fun in Elite I have had in a long time and I like the new AI difficulty level. Felt like real combat again and it really felt like I earned my combat bonds. Also added 10% to my progress towards Dangerous.

Well done.

Great! I feel the sense of danger in the galaxy even without seeing so many players where I am located at the moment.
Please tell us that you are still contemplating the higher ranking (Elite/deadly) NPC's to target our subsystems as well.

There is small steps for attack enemy target, how to pick and why.
Example: In Sidewinder - Mostly harmless. There is type of your space craft and type of your rank.
You only attack opposite Sidewinders with Mostly Harmless, Novice and Harmless rank. Do not attack Expert, Master, Dangerous or Deadly Sidewinders.
That depends what equipment you have and how you skilled in combat. If you are strong with weapon and equipment, ofc you can run on Sidewinders higher skill rank. Same thing is with Cobra.

Combat ship as a Viper, Vulture, Python and etc have different story. Python can be strong dualist with other bigger and ranked ship. Equipment, combat skill here is key also.

I have not seen many fer-de-lance npcs around the place. Can we expect to see elite fer-de-lance npc ships with 5 rail guns 1 shotting commanders any time soon?

This is if your Shield's gone offline.

I have question for developers about Player tactic.
What we can do.

Example: Can we boil with beam laser enemy's same type weapon's. Power plant for us is only choice how to get enemy down fast.

Action - reaction on every hardpoint.
Example: Power plant at 50% - problem with power cycling.
Weapons at 50% - problem with fireing - boiling.
Drives at 50% - problem with moving.
Sensor at 50% - problem with targeting.
Canopy hard point - head shot ;)

Really, really enjoying the AI NPC's now - I already can 'feel' the difference between ranks.

Sooo.. - now that the AI is so much better than before - how's about AI Wingmen then, ones you can hire - you know, pay a lot for a Elite Wingman - not so much for Harmless. Go on, you know you want too! :D

Seriously though - awesome work, the whole FD teams seem to be a rather talented bunch.

Targeting different sub-targets has different results, and the power-plant is not necessarily the best option. Taking out drives can give you time to finish a scan for bounties for example. Taking out the FSD will prevent them from jumping away as well, they can of-course reboot-repair. I think you can target weapons and take them offline, I have not actually tried this though, I always target the 3 sub-targets I stated above (power-plant, drives and FSD).

I used tactic in combat with Python. He has strong armor - hull. Targeting weapon system is effective. They are also in open. His form (aerodynamic) has that false. Weapons are revealed, not protected.

Except you will take out the powerplant faster than you will most other modules. Not only that...but because you are targeting the power plant...you instant kill a ship even when its hull is still at 80%...which means there is no risk of them running away or trying to use their FSD. It's literally pointless to attack anything else, unless the only component you can hit is their rear end.... because they are players trying to run away from you.

That being said, NPCs can now hit / target your internal systems ..and 99% of the time they will now go after your shield generator.

Along with their now suped up ship dmg and shield buff ....they can take out your shields in a matter of seconds when it use to take much, much longer....AND you end up with 10% shield generator health at the end of a 10 sec fight.

I notice that, Power plant is not protected well. Easy for destruction than other hardpoints.

You cannot get a scan off (disabling drives will buy you time for a scan if the target is chaff happy) or acquire cargo if you destroy the power plant and with it the ship, hence it is not necessarily the best option.

Fowled is not the usual word, but I am sure you get the idea,,,,,, ;)

Rofl :p

I was not asking what the word meant, but what the person thought was about my comment.

I love that NPC's aren't a walkover any more - I ran into a Competant Anaconda on an Assassination mission last night - I'd never really had trouble with Annies below Dangerous before, but I got my hull chewed to below 50% with this one... I did get him in the end but... yeah. Keep it up!
