I'm curious how you are calculating that you can make a profit off of buying your rating, or even maintaining it with cash. Even if you do so with collect actions you still have to collect and haul 10,000 tonnes of cargo. At best with a type 9 you're looking at a minimum of 20 runs in a low grade shielded 500t fit Type 9, with a minimum of 10-15 minutes per run. Estimating a 10 minute run time you are looking at at least 3.333 hours of work hauling the cargo in addition to the cost of paying for your rank.
Then theres the fact that the cost of buying your next collect action is calculated per ton. The cost is not a flat 100K. It scales with your allotment quantity at 10K per ton. This means that 100,000,000 credits is the full price for 10,000 merits to receive rating 5. You lose 50% of your merits at the end of the cycle, meaning that after achieving rating 5 maintaining your rank with cash will directly cost you 50 million credits and you will have to haul 5,000 tons of collect action cargo. Using the same figures as above this translate to a minimum of 1.666 hours of time hauling.
So, your argument is weak and is not using all of the facts. In order to maintain a rating 5 with credits as opposed to using the timers, you will be pouring the entire cycle bonus back into the faction to maintain the rank in addition to several hours of time hauling the actual cargo, especially if you are not in a Type 9 or Anaconda. You clearly have not actually played with the powerplay mechanics in any true capacity, and I therefore rebuke your statement and opinion tha
t PowerPlay is "PowerPloit" as you are clearly not providing an argument that has all the facts at hand. At absolute best one, with effort will only be able to maintain the benefits of rating 5 using the bonus. The cash bonus will only truly benefit players who are active enough to make 5,000 merits a week.
