agreeable greebling agreed !!

:D

Thanks M8!

Two new switches fitted, one to control the fans, the other for something for later on.

Fan fitted under the seat with the electrics to expel the heat. The pipe goes to the wine warmer to keep the red just above room temperature.

Sooooo,

I added the headrest and was not happy with it. It didn't gel for me as it just looks like something stuck on top - the move from chair body to headrest needed to be more of a gradual affair

rPy1Ikvl.jpg

Still more greebling and finishing to do on the headrest but it was ready to be put in place

so out of some double thickness corrugated card I have decided to make a couple of 'bits to assist the change visually

AWewhq0l.jpg

one of the problems is the rear speakers are under the new inserts so I will take a chance and make them hollow and let them direct the sound forwards. ( I can always decrease the delay on the rear speakers via the surround sound)

atC0ijNl.jpg

I made a template of them from paper then drew them out on the card and cut them out. I glued them together with a glue gun because that stuff sticks like wossname to a blanket. They will have a mesh at the front as speaker grills

sn9IxmQl.jpg

covered in filler and sanded

a1gf5Oql.jpg

The underneath. I've used cardboard for weight and as it's not a structural piece it doesn't bear weight.

97p69e2l.jpg

sanded so well, I needed to add some imperfections to the finish so sea salt was scattered on the top the sprayed. This will be removed later but the marks where the spray has congregated around the salt crystals will still be there.

Hopefully more time will be available over the weekend!

Yay! Managed to get most of the day at it!

silvering up the inserts

z9h5LU6l.jpg

In position. extra layer with the glue gun to represent welding and then silvered to make it look more so. Not sure if it's too bright so made go over it with a darkening wash

Front view of head rest. Still more to do with extra cushioning. Still some stenciling to do with the 'do not cover' graphic on the seat

QNJn8hGl.jpg

Rear view. Still a lot more finishing on the back to do

Front view with microphone on goose neck stalk

Still a lot of finishing to do but the main build is finished. Now it's just coats of paint and greebling

Thanks!

getting near finishing now. I shall be hosting a black tie chair launch party soon - look for your invitations in the post.... ;)

Awesome work commander!
So nice too see the project soon be completed! Im jealous to hell and back :O

Just a warning though, no matter what you believe...These projects are never "finished"...
Youll find something youll want to change, expand, redo and add.

And if nothing else, why isnt there a second chair beside this one, so you can fly with a friend!? ;)

Thanks, I think you may be right Enride, I will be tinkering with this for a long while! One project will be a motorised riser for the wine bottle at some point and also thinking about an x52.....

Awesome, awesome awesome, awesome.

It looks awesome PF!

Thanks TIOO, very different from your amazing build, but it would be odd if we were all the same! looking forward to progress on yours when time allows!

I may hold the launch party at the black hole at Sag A. as it resembles my chair in some ways regarding time and money ;) I'm half way there currently

A bit more today.

I have a surround sound amp for the standard bass shakers / tactile transducers embedded in the seat and other places but I was after a bit more deep bass. I ordered myself 2 more professionally made shakers to add to my home made ones and a 500 watt 2 channel amp.

Amp

Bass Shaker

fGevLXql.jpg

I plugged them in from the bass out on the surround sound and got a very satisfying rumble from the discovery scanner.

Now, I thought, I have to make them fit the chair ( you know, make it look used and crappy and put my 'touch' on them )

Sprayed the amp black and will add some silvering

9WICX9Rl.jpg

wasn't happy with the amp dials so made a new facia. I used the original as a template

cmTLFzql.jpg

Also I have always wanted a dial that went up to 11 because it's one more than ten

3MvzpVJl.jpg

Silvering and positioning over the weekend hopefully as the Mrs is away and i'll have time to play

Also added a couple more stickers to the tool case

xSUEWtxl.jpg

and

8urWwOKl.jpg

this is just my bit of fun for me as nobody else sees them...

Also on a completely unrelated note, I discovered my first earth like planet this week

i3LGdc7l.jpg

And so it goes on. Thank you for all the comments thus far. Rep incoming for those I can!

+1 for earth like planets +1 for Gramaphone / Wireless.

+1 for "goes to eleven" (for that extra push .. over the cliff)

and +1 for pampers stay-dry, personal use only ...

though you do realise .. you did just post that to forum!? :D

fun-est project on ED

A tiny bit more today. Amalgamating tape on the joystick to improve grip

C7JD8opl.jpg

Amp in position above the access hatch. Access hatch cover in production then i can finally finish off the finish on this side of the chair

5B76YqZl.jpg

Let the planet be Earthlike, but if its inhabitants are Humanlike you invoke EXTERMINATUS and get the eff out of there mate!

Ontopic, have you tried the bass shakers yet? Im interested to hear how they fare!

The Bass shakers have added a new layer of bass and I must say I'm very happy with them.
