Aisling Unopposed?

Was surprised to see Aisling expanding almost completely unopposed so far this cycle (expanding... is she getting implants?).

There's some (very) piecemeal preparation undermining at Grovichun and Woyo Mina and Cartoi, and some tiny expansion opposition at Pardis (1 of 6 expansion systems this cycle).

Seriously, Aisling must be taking tips from Lady Gaga's PR machine. Does anyone not like Aisling (or is she just too far away to care about?)
Are her Prismatic Shield Generators going to be that good?

Quick, someone draw up a Cobra with a My Little Pony rainbow as a shield!!!!! Aaargh!

Why are you surprised? Imperial Powers in general see very, very little Opposition and Undermining thanks to the PP mechanics being what they are. Last week Winters saw 2x more Opposition in one system than all the Imperial Powers in all their systems put together. Aisling is probably the "safest" Power in the game, but Lavigny is seeing little opposition either. What is surprising is that Torval and Patreus are actually seeing some breaks applied to their rise to power this cycle, although that appears fairly modest in the case of Torval.

Who'd want to hurt my Space Khaleesi anyway? Imperials love her, she makes us look good. Feds and Alliance love her, she wants to abolish slavery. Antal doesn't care, pirates think she's hot and Sirius Corp don't care.

We have been seeing some opposition and Code have been harassing Cubeo though.

To be honest, I was expecting some anti-Aisling activity - I wasn't expecting a complete zero (well almost zero). I thought the Goons were going to do their 5th column thing and undermine her from within.

Must be the blue hair, all the hot anime chicks have blue hair. Maybe FD is working up a salior costume for her too.

Aisling is completely safe as long as the mechanics stay as as they are. As for Goons - don't take that too seriously. They don't really do anything of note in games other than Eve, they just play the game. I wouldn't be surprised if that 5th column stuff would be just a bit of trolling - everything on the forums is assumed to be public, after all.

Why would you want to attack Aisling?

Is there any credits reward for doing this? No, there is your reason. Me as a federal mercenary, I currently wait for a worthy task to do. Until now the total task accepted by me are: 0.

No credits, no support. End of argument. It lacks in credits, everywhere. I don't care about the powers, I care about my credit balance and about a good weapon on my hardpoint, nothing else. If this is not provided I see no reason in moving my hand for the will of ANY power ... or anyone - anything at all.

Aisling's missions to undermine her explansions are far more complex & difficult than for other powers. This is the problem.

We have social, combat, finance, and covert. It turns out finance is the easiest to undermine, and it just so happens that winters loves her finance, and hudson likes killing to get his way. freedom, eh?

You can't use that argument, as you have said that the Empire in general is over buffed as regards PP. For the whole of Empire against the rest of the factions, I agree, Empire has major advantages, for many reasons, including FDs input. However: Your arguments that PP mechanics, now favour, one part of the Empire over all else, is invalid. Now it is begining to look like your issue is, that your chosen faction is not doing as well as you would like and so you are just complaining, that others are doing better.

One reason i left power play. I want credits not merits.

Aisling's position is terrible though. Once people get Prismatic Shields they'll defect, and she'll be stuck between Torval and Lavigny who will quickly fracture her territory as it's spread out and thin.

Don't worry I'm just cashing in some bounties then I'm heading into her controlled space to cause a bit of havoc!

Goons were doing their 5th column thing to Arissa - they're with Aisling (poor choice having both their names start with an A - not the first time I see them mixed up).

- There's little to no point in undermining her as another imperial power due to the mechanics (pirating her campaign ships, with each ton wort one merits - much easier to just shoot a fed for 15) - probably the most tedious way to gain merits in the game.

- She is the strongest power judging by activity and still relatively small, so all her systems are overfortified, overprepared and overexpanded, making the attempt to oppose her rather futile.

- The other imperial powers (mainly Torval and Patreus) shield her from all non-imperial powers, so any non-imperial CMDR farming imps for credits is doing it in their territory because they're closer - besides I've heard of ongoing negotiations for a pact between fed and Aisling player groups - makes sense since Aisling and Feds are essentially the same.

That's true, I've gone through 2.5 million credits since pp started in repair costs ship outfitting etc, that prismatic shield better be worth it :)

So my question is what keeps me tied to PP after the 4 wks are up and I have the special weapons?

I don't know about the ol' Hag, but Lavigny loves her dear sister and won't harm a single blue hair on her, she even let her have planets in her sector's backyard.

I think the goons gave up on the 5th column thing as nobody's bothered this week. I don't think it stood much chance of working anyway, given the mechanics.
.
I think Aislings safe enough for now. The Evil Hag and Lord Brylcreem will make much more satisfying targets once the truce has ended, than the Blue Pixie.
