The Python's mighty shields are tough to crack

I have been playing this game since Beta and let me tell you it never gets old. Good old mano a mano against a Python part two.

You were lucky he didn't have a clue how to fly his Python. A real Python pilot wouldn't try to out turn you, he would know that the viper is a slightly quicker turner than him and owned you with sheer tank and thump :)

This is not my first time making a Python run, seems like there is lot of pilots out there they don't know what they doing then, according to your logic. The only way a python can stand a chance against smaller fighter is stacking SCB's.

Or just fly backwards with FAOFF when you need to drift a little. Doing this allows a python to very easily track just about any ship in the game.

Well in the first clip, the python had clearly got SCB but probably didn't realise that a C6+E5=A7, so wasn't maximising his power properly an A7 is 2.90MJ and the C6+E5 is 2.67MJ both charge 230MJ of shield.. the second guy just didn't have a clue, clearly wasn't using SCB and if you into PVP you kinda need to.. I noticed you have them, you also use chaff something neither of those guys had.. Any way the point is that just because they submit to the grind to earn money doesn't mean they deserve the ship they are flying, killing NPC's is nothing compared to a semi skilled pilot and I wonder how experienced they were... I also wasn't trying to lessen your achievement, Kudos :)

you are right it seems like a lot of guys who are flying big ships don't have a lot PVP experience, since they didn't bother with combat until they bought their Python or FDL.

I run a combat fit Python, but am yet to try the stacked SCB builds. How does the heat buildup compare to a single larger SCB?

In a Hudson Mil Strike zone last night a non-aligned Clipper CMDR was trying to bait me into PvP by making long ramming runs while I was busily despatching smaller ships in one pass.
Mostly I could avoid the Clipper's runs but every once in a while he'd manage to clip me (lol) and even with 4 pips to shields I'd lose a full ring or more, while he'd lose about 1/ a ring. Given I have 3 A0 boosters, 7A shields and 2 6A SCBs and 2 5A SCBs on board, what with fire coming in from local enemy Anacondas etc, I had to bug out after a few of his successful passes.

Point was, he never opned fire on me, simply used long passes to try and wear my shields down (ram) and presumably exhaust my SCB set.

I'm not too concerned with the power usage since I can power off and next SCB on in less than 3 secs. I can runa 6A and a 5A at the same time.

But, he/she succeded and I had to bug out. The Python's shields are good, but not insurmoutable.

I fly a πython. Its got an A3 shield and A7 hyper drive and lots of range. If I cant win Im gone. That's my variation on shields

Well for one major problem is your using kinetic damage to take out shields. Try beam lasers. OR any energy weapon. You have been playing since beta but still dont know how to burn through shields.

I use class 3c beam and Cannon class 3c both gimbal. I burn the shields off with the beam and then get in close take out power supply. But i also have a vulture.

So for you use whatever 2 best beams you can get and then best multi cannons you can get.

BUrn with lazers then hit with either both or just kinetics.

I like to get in really close like i am talking almost to close.

The viper has crappy beams and even an even smaller distributor. Kinetic weapons are his best bet, Thermal weapons aren't THAT much better.

Using all kinetics so you can keep full pips to shields is a great setup. Sure it takes you longer to burn through shields but at the same time it makes it even more difficult for your enemy to get through yours. I have ran this setup many times and it never fails my opponent calls me a shield hack LOL

I do it on my FDL as well. Shields become nearly indestructible. 5 Multi-cannons make a mess of most everything!

Sorry to burst you bubble, but you cannot drift as fast as me going forward.

Of course he will add rotation (with FAoff is very fast), while still going back. Reverse mode should kill your shields really fast, IF python pilot is competent.

That was amusing to watch- I think that's one of the "I have just enough to buy a Python, so lets do it!" guys...... no more money to get anything other than a few weapons. With turrets that little ship would have been toasted in a few seconds.

It amazes me how many people in these threads think Jesse is just getting lucky with all these pythons he crushes. People aren't giving enough credit to operator skill. He's fighting them using tactics that gives him a huge edge. He is using FAOFF and not taking them head on. Hes using chaff so they have to be head on to do any damage to begin with. Hes using weapon hardpoints that leaves him plenty of powerplant capacity to stack cell banks so he can stay in the fight longer. He is constantly maneuvering.
Its like the old argument I used to have with my friends about which nation has the best tanks. Abrams? Leopard 2? Challenger? Armata? Merkava? In any combat situation its going to come down to who has the best tanker crews. Its about the operator.
Seeing him melt the shields on ships that cost 100X as much as his in under a minute with kinetic weapons designed to do hull damage still makes me think they might be a little bit strong for that role right now but it does not take away from the skill required to do so. Claiming all his opponents are idiots or don't know how to fit their ship properly is just ignoring the actual truth about what is happening.
