Reasons why no XBOX on PC/Mac Servers

Another quote from the Author of the clip, BlueSkullGamer: " I have a pc and i can run nearly everything on pc at high. I play console because the pc community is &%^$". We must try better to embrace and bond differences (but stick to our own and own servers).
It does amaze me that the tutorials, though useful, do not show everything in turn, well it would just take way too long, and besides there's no better way than in at the deep end. It did take me 1 week to configure my Controls & discover and setup own Voice Attack config & Facetracknoir settings. During that I also learned to be careful after running out of fuel and losing my 1st ship. You must learn these important basics early on. The PC/Mac users have easier fast access to the forum/youtube during playing and have more of a studious manner. For them, I think if they don't use this forum or google they will not get to the bigger ships as they will have to rely on Sideys vs Pythons to grind because there is important info on trading and rares here.

To the guy in the video .. don't worry, I'm sure you'll actually get quite good at Elite Dangerous after some practice, you were actually picking things up quite well.

I played Elite in '85 .. the X-series from 2000 to 2014 ... I took to Elite Dangerous like a duck to water, I docked perfectly the first time ... and yet I too had trouble with the first training mission. I still have yet to master things like silent running and FAoff, so in some respects, the guy in the video is better than me.

ED is not an experience suitable for the console generation ... they need to be led by the hand and told what to think and do next, preferably by their social media God.

I don't think "console generation" is the term you're looking for. Unless you're trying to prove your ignorance. You know given the fact video game consoles predate Elite '84 and all.

I saw a poll here a few months ago that suggested the average age of people playing ED was 30+. You'd never know by reading these forums.

From the youtuber himself

First off don't give me .

I am new to the game I had no manual to read or what ever there is no instructions on what to do or how to fly it was my first run through and I don't think any of you new what to do straight of the back

and if you are going to insult me say it in the comments so I can reply to you and when you all say immature or I am very mature.
I do have a pc that can run ED at the highest settings but I couldn't get on the main game and I couldn't contact any one because the forums wouldn't work and I couldn't get in touch with any one to sort out my game so I got a refund
And I played the demo on the ED launcher:mad::mad:

And thankyou to the people who are actually admitting this is not a game you can just learn in 5 minutes.

I still strongly disagree with that. I think that impression is still somewhat of a generations thing.
The oldies and original Elite players are getting old and slower (hence the impression of a steep learning curve) and the kids never experienced some actual hard games (because they are too young) and are having trouble to adjust to this slightly increased 'complexity'.

ED has already been tuned down quite a bit since the alpha/beta games, people should stop complaining or else this is getting more and more casual.

Have you played on Xbox with this game no, have you played with the Xbox controller with this game no,

on pc it is easier to play mouse to look (Q) and (E) to roll
(W) forward (S) back.

I picked up on the pc pretty quick but Xbox nope I did not know a single button and I am an Xbox game

Absolutely this, all the PC master race and "generation" generalisations are plain embarrassing.. I doubt anyone found this game easy to get to grips with, as countless threads on this forum show, knocking people cos they play on Xbone.. how mature is that?

No one cares on which platform he or anyone is playing, the game is the same.

I genuinely am interested in what you or anyone saying they had problems getting into this game think is or was difficult.
Don't know button mappings? Complain about too many binding options? Unable to dock? Oh come on....

I had no "problems" getting into this game.. but the learning curve is steep. If you found it easy, well done you.

but the learning curve is steep

People keep saying that. Can you give me any example?
The only thing I can think of are new additions like powerplay, adding some new buttons to click. Read a little about that and you are good to go.
This can't be it. We have a basic flight model (which can be somewhat 'mastered' with FAOFF), no real trading simulation, stupid NPC AI, repetitive missions ...

Don't get me wrong. I don't care if you think this game is hard or you take a while to feel comfortable with it.
But I care that people actually tell us about it instead of just taking the time and trying some things first, reading stuff, train a little.
Because when more and more come here and tell us about it, people start to believe it. Even the devs start to believe that and make adjustments ultimately making ED even duller (as we have already seen).

I don't know what constitutes a steep learning curve but
Hitting the station whist docking used to be fairly fatal, not you can hit it and you shields absorb the brunt
We used to think we needed a UI to provide Rotation guidance.
People were happy when the docking computer was introduced.
People were happy when they stopped you being about to boost with landing gear down, since the number of thread abut [accidentally] pushing boosting whilst docking dropped.
People were happy when you could no long accept missions you didn't have the jump range for since threads about that dried up
People were happy that the ls from entry point was added to the system map, rather than them having to work it out from the orbital data, since complaints about that stopped.
I assume people are happy now you can no longer accept missions to outposts if you have a Large ship since there were always posts about it on the forum that are no longer there, instead of just checking the destination on the map before accepting the mission.

All that suggests that ED is unforgiving to those who don't pay attention.

He's not a pilot, just a gamer. Nor has he come from another flight sim where he has to control flaps and rudders.
So this is all new to him.
He had one hour to trial it and recorded it to share.
He just spoke as is, when trying a trial first time.
Nobody is going to study flight mechanics and a manual just for a trial.
You can see him pressing buttons to see what they do. That's how you trial.

Bet if the trial was longer, in one hour he say "damn this game is hard", then another hour later, "man this game is awesome."
Not that game is hard but when I started I had no idea about all the modules, I just wanted to fly and I did and I did fine.
The hardest part was trying to write in chat.

The game was made easier for PC user's. They found it hard, however, it has just been made slighty harder just in time for the X-box release.
So who's really struggling with this game? :D

The simple fact that most buttons on the controller have 2 separate functions is a sign of a steep learning curve. There's also the fact that the game basically tells you nothing and expect you to read the manual, which is a ridiculously archaic notion. The very reason why there are tutorials in videogames is to solve this issue, and apparently FD didn't get the memo.

Seriously, I don't get what the big deal is. People are acting like this is a console player thing, but I remember pretty much every "first time trying ED" videos by PC players being exactly the same.

Ok well, I just don't share that opinion.

Besides, I don't hate on that kid in the video (although, he was very very unobservant) or consoles.
I don't like people making noise about their difficulties getting into this game, that's my point.

I'm curious about what your definition of a steep learning curve is.

Todays generation (meh) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc8bww4Dxqo
Thank your lucky stars you don't have to deal with these Xbox users.

I've seen today's generation on PC as well and they don't act pretty, and thats coming from a member of today's generation.

All this really shows is just another consumer who didn't do research on the product. This game's learning curve is not that steep as the controller controls take after Ace Combat very well actually. Kindness and respect goes both ways, maybe if we actually decide rather than throwing insults at someone we could help them learn from the game? Maybe more instructional videos? Maybe point him towards the manual?
