Open Really sucks sometimes

I have tried open 4 times, and been killed 4 times with 0 chat/talking/warning. I only have an asp, so not hard for a Python/Anaconda/Vulture to kill me. Personally I am not coming back to open anymore. I will play solo or with my buds. Screw open if keep silent killing others like this.

Where were you? George Lucas or something? Or Eravate? Anyone of the starting systems? Lurkers be there. Are you aligned with an Imp Powerplay faction, and hanging out in Fed space? I find your claim of being in Open 4x, and being killed 4x, questionable. Have you seen how big the bubble of Human Occupied Space is? There are many, many empty systems. You should also learn how to run away.

Also, you can build an Asp that can take on any other ship 1v1, for sure.

So, I was happily farming a RES zone that was spawning wings of Dangerous ranked Pythons and Clippers and I had something like 6 mil in bounties sitting in my transactions.

I was taking a breather for 5 mins to let my shields reboot and recharge when a player FDL jumped in. (Vulture Shields take ages to reboot and recharge)

They said "Hey" then shot at me with my shields down, turning me into swiss cheese.
I was literally raising my coffee cup to my mouth as this happened so I was NOT pleased and came THIS close to needing a new keyboard.

I had been there for almost an hour and it had taken we two more to get decent spawns going.........

Losing ALL your bounties and eating a 1 mil rebuy due to players being lame and sniping you for no reason other than wanting to farm your RES is really crappy.

The planet was one of five gas giants with rings in the system and orbited the secondary star in the system too, so it not like I was easy to find....

Signed,
An exasperated CMDR.
.
I have to ask this: Prior to your unfortunate incident, when you were amassing 6 million odd credits in bounties, did you wait until every ship had full shields before initiating your attack? Did you engage in meaningful dialogue prior to firing your first salvo with these wings of Dangerous ranked Pythons and Clippers?
.
I do sympathise for your loss and whilst I suspect your post is tongue-in-cheek, if it was serious, guess it sucks to be you :D

I feel like RDM'ing (Random Deathmatch) really needs to have severe merciless punishments.

I don't think it should be severe, but I do think the current bounty for murder is too low.

The trick is to find a method that doesn't encourage bounty farming... maybe leave the 9K bounty, but add CMDRs to the assassination missions that don't get offerred to known associates?

I honestly side with the person that attacked you. You should have docked up and "cashed in" instead of risking your bounties.

I would have done the same thing. This game is very cut throat and you should always be on your toes if you see a hollow box on your screen and don't know who it is.

Shoot first and triumph or get out while you have a chance to.

This would work but most people don't even play online and most of those bounties will never be claimed.

Honestly what I'm sick of is people logging off when they are about to die.

That is just pure . If they want to log off and push the "I suck button"; their ship should be left in space. Simple as that.

But that's off topic and just something that has been driving me crazy.

Please note, the serial killer of Sag A was hunted down and slain by player commanders. You may not be able to post names here, but try some other places, particularly faction headquarters. You may be able to organise a kill team. There are also player groups with wings for hire. Some might even do it just for the righteousness. I would. Check powerplay and see whose 'airspace' you are in, I'm sure agents of that power would help with the policing of rogues and scoundrels.

Never give up and fly only in Solo. All the best experiences in this game are with humans, good or bad.

I don't buy this for one second, unless you were hanging around Lave or Leesti, which are known hot-zones. I have been playing since launch, only ever in open, almost every day. I have been attacked just a hand full of times, and only killed twice. I didn't fret about it either - the risk of being engaged by a real player is what makes the game exciting for me. I go out of my way to get into dogfights myself, but I only ever attack players aligned with other powers. And most of those guys are up for it to. If someone protests I always back off though.

I play with in the open all the time, and I would attack the OP if he was in another faction! Especially, if he was in my factions space bounty farming! I've interdicted a few players that were in factions space and probably up to no good, even if they are only trading. But, nothing about ED is safe!

Yep the in-game consequences for people "role playing" as "psycho's" needs to be increased. I'am not talking getting in any trouble by Server moderators or anything but rather getting relentlessly pursuited by NPC agents and Stations in Civilized space being made harder for them to dock forcing them in Anarchy Systems.

Cause it's kinda lame when the large majority of my player interactions are from people "role playing " as "Psychos" other then the occasional pirate here or their which is fine in my opinion.

Thankfully my favorite ship is the Cobra so I can just outrun most irregardless of how outclassed I am.

I feel your pain. Now may I suggest you go get your bounty every other million or so? Basically I made the following rule for myself: 1 hour of bounty = go cash it. Because a more or less similar story happened to me (I lost "ony" 2M).

Same, once my Multi's run low i go cash in and reload

Comes with the territory I suppose. Most folks I find on Open are generally not like the one you describe.

However, I've yet to get my ship blown up in what I'd consider a legit and fair PvP situation. Every time I've been killed in PvP it has been in a CZ and the commander was yellow (hadn't taken a side). These folks that just sit around in a CZ waiting for a CMDR to blind side, not participating in the CZ at all just tick me off.

Honestly, trading in Open is way more interesting than Bounty Hunting in Open. For the only reason that it avoids the spots where PKers hang out and wait for an easy kill.

So you make a thread about a mistake (going afk at a res) that you made and we're supposed to feel sorry or this is somehow open's fault?

the fact that you felt comfortable enough to do something like that should tell FD that AI needs to be even harder and the players who killed you, while maybe killing you for fun, were at least filling the gap that shouldn't have existed in the npc response to a bounty hunter killing so many of their brethren.

In the end you learned a lesson you should have learned when starting with bounty hunting at res's. You always turn in when you have enough bounties you'd be upset if you lost them. It has nothing to do with open. Unfortunately, res spawning for all but authority ships is mostly nonsense RNG so the easier modes of play (solo, private) tend to not force the issue like it can be forced in open.

as long as you have insurance, you dust yourself off, get back in your ship and adapt. Actually being threatened with being killed for any reason is why open can be fun and better than the other modes to play the game. The npc spawning and AI still needs much more work to offer the same threat.

Truth. An be many games dat get de adrenaline pumpin, got excitement an drama - all widout providin a system where d-bag are aok :D

Mudfungus is right. Also, remember: UK = OK; when going through the mailbox remember: red light = UK = OK, take this side. Green light = Ireland = avoid at all cost.

I'm not siding with the guys who killed you. But, with that many vouchers in your pocket, surely the best way to take a break would have been to head back and rearm/repair and bank what you earned?
Gotta track players really well and, one way or another, discern their intentions quickly.

This.

A Shieldless ship swimming in uncached bounty-credits left in a pirate/human infested RES site unmanned for several minutes?

Sorry for the loss of your Vulture and all those credits CMDR but this is your fault, no the game's or FD's.
