Reached Elite in trading... Now what?

Depends on how you made your money: if you enjoy the premise of trading but used 3rd party tools or pre-published trade routes (aka "easy/thoughtless mode" for making money) do it "properly" by using some of the player-published trading guides that show you how to find excellent trade routes. Takes planning, trial and error and some patience, but is much more "rewarding". If you did that, and/or don't want to trade any more, do something else in-game. Simples.

Edit: I see from a previous post you amassed your fortune "properly". Well done!

I did it in a more hybrid way, I used trading tools to find good trading systems and worked my way from there. Very known trading routes dies out in days and I needed to trade for just below 2 weeks to get my 85%. So I found one profitable and stable system with the tool and connected it with one that wasn't obvious. That way the second and not so stable station could sustain my own heavy trading for a great many days.

Grind 500 millions more.

Then build a 1 billion PvP Anaconda.

Die few times, and back to grind that 500 millions more. Rinse and Repeat.

Elite PvP is so cool!

I gave up grinding for the Anaconda. I will stick to the python. I would not want to imagine how much the Boa would be.

A good aim when you get to the Conda is 10-20m on a work day, 40-50m on a day off and 60-70m if you feel like burning yourself out a bit. A good tip is to get a second monitor and watch something while you trade.

Gosh. I really can't stomach more than about 10M a day - I just can't. And that's on a day off. My wife would certainly have something to say about it! :D

im bored of this games grind already and i only been playing for a few days, this game has nothing to offset the grind or a decent reason to grind other than move to t he next ship in the linearity chain

grinding in mmo's is fine because they have money sinks (eve for example has pvp and ships go boom for it's money sink so you have to earn more to pvp again)

ED has no money sinks, so the grind is pointless and boring because that money just accumulates for no purpose

Tuesday the 23rd last month I decided I wanted Elite in Trading. I was already at 15% Tycoon and today I got the last 2% progression I needed for Elite.
So here I sit in Jameson Memorial in a Cobra with the outfit I wanted and a bit more than a billion credits in my balance and I forgot what I wanted to do afterwards.

Anyone have any suggestions?
Ship builds and what to do in them, etc etc.

Buy an Orca and go exploring. It might not be ideal functionally but you're rich and deserve to travel in style and comfort.
If you're an immersive player take appropriate cargo on your luxury tour. Tea, wine, slaves...

Congratulations on becoming Elite! Good luck commander :)

So,.....you don't think you will be playing in Elite 10 years time?.......... :) I wonder how many of the near 3/4 of a million owners of ED out there, are still playing?........Are there any server stats so we can see how many people are hooked up through a week?

I am beginning to wonder if "immersive" means tipsy.....Friday night, tough week at work, want to get away from the Mrs and kids......a few beers and I will "bong" a few more systems as I "Explore"......and drink more beers, watch something on Netflix........ ahhhh....nice..... :)
.
I aint saying that's wrong........but the marketing vs the reality......jeeze, x-box kiddies are in for a shocker.....And dad will be like "No, you are wrong, youth.....this is how we did games back in my day and it is awesome...... now, let me show you how to dance properly too............".....

Nope, FD do not release any stats like that.

I hope to be still playing in 10 years time. FD said at one point they have something like an 8 year plan for the game. Hope they can manage that.

You'll wind up doing what everyone else with a ton of credits does - joining The Code and becoming a pirate.
Because face it, that truly is the "end game" in Elite: Dangerous.

To quote F. Herbert (and by quote I mean hack to bits) “The mystery of Elite isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.”
