(RANT) It's enough frontier!

instead of this archaic 18th century empire building nonsense based on finite borders and limited resources. Its almost as if those in power want to keep everyone crammed into one tiny speck and enforce proper deference and compliance

Sounds like the most realistic aspect of politics-based game play to me. :)

Aye, 'tis a silly concept on so many levels.

There are over 100 scanned and surveyed, yet unclaimed, Earth-Like worlds within 500 LYs of the "Powers" borders. It takes 15 minutes to reach the most distant one. So why are these characters still squabbling over dead red dwarf systems, mined out belts, and a pixels worth the map that someone else has 'claimed' when they have untapped infinity on their doorstep?

FD, how about the powers begin expanding outwards and making some use of this empty 400,000,000,000 star system galaxy... you know, colonization, expansion, exploration... those funny 33rd century concepts that humans would be engaging in... instead of this archaic 18th century empire building nonsense based on finite borders and limited resources. Its almost as if you want to keep everyone crammed into one tiny speck and enforce multiplayer interaction to justify all the multiplayer concepts you went to great pains to implement

So much this. In an era when humanity has discovered the Frame Shift Drive, throwing off the shackles of week-long hyperspace jumps, and the far side of the galaxy is in almost easy reach, to collapse inwards, rather than expand outwards at a massive rate seems... erm... 'a bit short-sighted' [classic British understatement there].
.
Of course other alien races in the galaxy might be paying attention that a bunch of upstart monkeys have that technology now...

Aisling is the smurfette, Arissa is the not so pretty sister (In comparison to Aisling that is :p )

She's the middle one.

Arissa is smurfette right? The one that doesn't like slavery.

Hmmm, I felt odd writing: The one that doesn't like slavery.

Ahem.

Is she the one third from the left on the login screen?

If so she looks remarkably like someone I used to go out with not far shy of 30 years ago - same hair and everything (well it was the 80s..)

She borrowed my C64 and disk drive complete with Elite - I never did get it back :(

Since i began playing ED i pretty much decided against associating myself with the Empire in any way. Perhaps thats the intention the devs have when building the games mechanics and power organization; creating an underdog and the status quo.

Ive decided recently to dabble in pirating. Im pretty certain ill pick Empire space to do this.

You see, if you'd have kept that you could have been a Power today.

Why use made up words when real ones can be quite funny.

Glove = Handschuh = hand shoe

Nipple = Brustwarze = breast wart

Submarine = Unterseeboot = (you guessed it) under sea boat.

FWIW, I actually used the Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft stuff in a lecture I gave recently about Franz Schubert. The DDSG had an old steamer ('Dampfer') called the Franz Schubert (renamed from Duchess of Hohenburg (wife of Archduke Franz Ferdinand) after WWI).

Frontier, stop this garbage.

/Rant (Sorry for being a bit angry)

LMAO!
Thank you for the laugh.
Yes the Empire is FD's golden child not to deny and I had liked to see Arissa on position 10 (does someone have a screenshot for me!?!? :) and dropping out of the power completle the next cycle. But that hadn't been a good thing but just a wast. Who do you want to hate or fight then? Honestly every rising power is facing the same doom like Arissa. With the given Game mechanics it's hardly avoidable. Their limiting system and power control system by players or rather lack of it, is badly designed and I am sure also buggy. ( It amazes me how buggy programmers they have. Since beta I haven't seen anything working that has to do with background, fraction, power simulation. Ok power is a little bit working at least. )
