is cqc that bad?

Remember when in beta we use to jump near Freeport to the Res site and just shoot each other with no consequences, not worrying about insurance/ship lost and so on - that was excellent fun as far as I remember.
I see lots of negativity regarding upcoming CQC and my question is - istn cqc pretty much the same thing? You can jump to it just for some fast pew pew, its outside of the main game so you dont need to worry about your precious grinded money.
Think of it as it was Freeport just before the wipe :D

I wasn't in the game at this point but I definitely see your point. Personally I'm looking forward to it coming to CQC to give me something to help hone my piloting skills in high-octane no-risk PVP combat, plus give me an opportunity to revisit my favourite ship in teh game: The Eagle, where it has a chance to do something useful and perform well XD

I'll definitely give it a go. I was already burned by paying extra to test someone else's game for them, so if they add new "content" I may as well look at it as a freebie.

The chances of it being more entertaining than the grind of the "real game" are possibly quite high.

Don't see it holding my attention for all that long. I may be wrong.

My initial reaction to CQC was not that positive but the more I think about it the more I actually like the sound of it. As you say there is the benefit that it's basically a separate game so you aren't risking your main game by taking part. Also for folk like me with only a few precious hours to play a week, it's a good way to get some fast and hopefully exciting gameplay in.

"What's the point of CQC, it's just one massive grind to the top of the leaderboard! I want my money back, XBox is crap, dumbed down. Im not playing but......".

Just thought i'd say it before anyone else does :)

Im looking forward to it. Anyone not playing with FA off should get practicing!

The only problem I see with CQC is that it might be TOO popular!

No, not at all.
CQC is an unavoidable and necessary addition in this time of competitive gameplay.
People want this stuff and I bet it will be great fun.

And I am saying this being not interested in CQC myself whatsoever.
I cannot see myself taking part in CQC ever.
But that does not matter. I am not the only one playing ED.

Also, as a explorer far far away from civilization I have pretty much zero chances for some fast pvp just because I'm years from any crowded systems. And I want to do fast pew pew - just like in good old beta days.
So I'm definitely looking forward to cqc.

I think most of the negative response is from 3 different arguments.

1) pc should get it earlier or at least the same time as xbox.

2)pvp has been getting too much attention lately/ or they just dont like the idea of a pvp addition in general.

3)It's separate from the regular galaxy and thus pointless or immersion breaking or whatever.

I'm still on the fence about it. I'll wait and see how it looks.

Freeport was amazing!

I'm actually back there right now for the first time since the game was released...ahh, the memories! :)

I'm certainly going to be playing CQC every now and then even if it won't be my main way of experiencing the game.

I think most people who complained about it weren't angry because of CQC itself, but because it came out on console first and was something nobody expected while there is still so much content missing, which has already been talked about. CQC on its own isn't the problem, it's just the circumstances in which it appeared.

Want CQC so badly, such a shame that the xbox was deemed a better fit for this than PC (this was some kind of internal joke right? right?), but I'm a competitive PvP player so it appeals to me, actual balanced competitive gaming, off the back of this kind of system you can have tourneys, even if they are player run etc...

I don't think this was the case, it's pretty likely that Microsoft just threw a bunch of money at FD to get it temporarily exclusive. You know how much Sony and Microsoft love their exclusives.

Well I think it was DB that said CQC was a perfect fit for Xbox (one of the news letters maybe), so thats where I got that from. Pff Xbox over PC, Yo kidding right ? right ?

As far as I get CQC is supposedly a simulation running as combat training for commanders, pitting them against eachother. Which if that's the case makes perfect sense. Since obviously you'll want the best possible pilots in your army without having to send them to real life and death battles before they are ready.

I mean if Elite has solved the problem of Hyperspace so surely virtual realities/cockpits are solved.

My thoughts exactly. I'd love to see it being a part of the main game though, rather than a separate menu option, for immersion (I know that a lot of people don't like that word and I also realise it's overused :p )

Absolutely. The only thing I personally dislike about CQC is the separation from the main game.

I am more or less the same. Although I won't play it my self the game is obviously full of people who like PvP space action. CQC caters to them and will, to an extent, allow more PvE oriented players fewer "gamey" interactions in open. Everyone wins.

I really hope it works out.
