If I was to list all the changes I'm making to AI combat it would be a long list. It'll need a lot of balancing. Right now on my build an Elite Anaconda is unbeatable... and that makes me grin like a Cheshire cat. ;)

As soon as you get into a lowly cobra, the game difficulty ceases to increase.

The enemy stays the same forever, and you just get stronger and stronger.

Also, don't forget that you get auto aim weapons - i mean what a joke that is, in of itself. of course the AI are going to get demolished.

when the new AI arrives, I'm only playing in open for safety reasons. They will have plenty of other pilots to chase instead of me.
 
Well I'm still crap at assassinations and generally get my backside kicked. Is there a clumsy oaf's guide to assassinations anywhere?!

Perhpaps too much asked: But did you built in some random glitches?
I mean.. nobody is perfect, not even an Elite Pilot and also an AI should not be flawless.
Somehow the AI should be able to - the higher ranked the seldom - miscalculate a players tactic or moves, and make a small mistake, so that it should be possible to win against Elite AI, even in a Conda.

Do you account for that somehow?
 
Why hamper the AI in any way? An Elite NPC rating should mean just that.

If you can't beat it you run away or get some buddies to come help you.

I vote "no" on any hampering.

Infallible AI would actually be a little boring perhaps. Phoenix's point is that even the very best human commanders will make mistakes now and then, if we want the AI to behave believably then even the Elite npc have to occasionally slip up. Thargoids on the other hand...
