60,000 light years, 500 Neutron Stars, 70 Black holes, 1 Supermassive and 22mil Profit!

Thanks OP, got to the star cluster you highlighted.
I'm taking the discovery scan and tag only the jump in stars in reach.
Did one run already but returned for the Community Goal at TSU.
Taken me 17hrs approx. to get out there and 12hrs to get back (I saw lots of pretty things on the way out :) ).
Particularly the triple black hole system discovered by me at BLAE EAEC BA-A G1120
Blitzspear's_triple_blackhole_system.jpg
Scanned 1900 systems and earned 27.5mil making me Ranger.
Going back out in a better ship (ASP only had a 31ly jump range), stripped down my trading Anaconda and got 37.8Ly jump range.
I'm almost back in the cluster after 7hrs.
I'm going to try and scan 10,000 neutron/black hole systems this time returning around 15,000 systems visited (currently at 4,747)

Here's my first intergalactic selfie out near the cluster
(lots of stars out here)

It's full f stars...........

I'll let you know of my progress but next return should see me Elite........

PS - first sale of 1,899 system scans took me 3.5hrs on Cartographics with hundreds of pop up FIRST DISCOVERIES........ very cool :)

Thanks for spilling the secret.....
lol, I know you are teasing but if others don't know, I have roughly worked out the size of that field.
It is at least 14000 LY wide , 4000 LY deep and around 1000 LY high , and taking 2 different star densities I get between 100 MILLION and 1 BILLION Neutron stars :)

Only 22mil profit from that :(? Damn, I'm not looking forward to going back then. I guess I've only been in 2000-2500 systems when I get back to civilization.

My first ever exploration tour earned me 5 million before the boost. The next one got me to Saggy, 40 million for three weeks in the void. I then perfected exploration earnings, 62m in one week. Now I'm on my final neutron tour before Elite, after which I'll use the Founder's World discount on an exploratory Anaconda I'll christen "Argent's Legacy" before heading off to unexplored horizons.

I love exploration and can't wait for more content. Congratulations on your journey!

22 million seems pretty low tbh. I managed 38 million in a Sag A* dash and only had around 5 black holes and 40 neutron stars. The trip home was a rush at approx 2kLy per hour after almost nodding off at the stick, resulting in a close encounter with a neutron star gravity well that cracked the canopy and left most of my modules in the 0-60% range. Used the auto-repair to patch as much as possible (mostly the Fsd and thrusters) and high tailed it back home asap.

Managed to convert Asp to an A grade combat-ready rares hauler, buy and kit a Vulture for some RES action and still had a few kk left over for insurance.

Most of my scanning was between Sag A* and the upper neutron star belt, which had a load of terraforming candidates - most for one system was 630k.

Dastardly, those are some beautiful shots you got there. Very impressive work, my friend.

I've been pondering a trip to Sag A for a couple of weeks now.... The best thing I have ATM is an almost fully kitted out Cobra, which gets just over 13ly. So, I'm going to need to get another ship to cut down on the number of jumps, or I could just go for it. I dunno, I'll have to ponder it a bit longer.

+Rep, Dastardly. Congrats on your safe return.
Only 13 ly in a Cobra? Heck my Cobra is parked up at the moment and not really in an exploration setup but I'm pretty sure she can make over 20ly a jump. If you'd like to post your set up on here I'm sure some of us could advise you how to extend your range quite a bit.

I dunno. In my last journey I must have visited about 400 systems around the Orion-Taurus area within 2000LY of Sol, detail scanning everything and missing nothing out (including the systems that have had first discoveries already established) and earned just over 10.6 million credits gross in the current pricing climate.

just come back from a 10 day trip I got 18.5Mil from 440 systems was happy with that, went to a lot of F and G stars so scanned plenty of terraformable planets :D
my best system was Praea Euq OA-A D52 got me 270k also had another 3 systems over 200k (all excluding first find bonus). My best since rewards have gone up is Wregoe TG-B c27-17 around 350k cr excluding first find bonus :D

So does it matter who I sell discoveries to? How did you get that high of a profit, Im only getting like $6,000 per system, $400 per sun. I have not traveled the 20LY to make the transactions, but that is what one station would have gave me.

Great images, I should start taking screenshots.

Outstanding work, but to em it doesn't sound like it was work for you :) I've been griping across the forums for an hour now about the things that upset me (Power Play grind) and just when I'm going to leave, I see your thread and I'm happy you found all this :)

Do you get paid more for earth like planets discovered? Also I found new astronomical objects, but it does not show up on the Galaxy map as found, let alone found by me. I went to Gebel and sold all my pages to them. How long does it take for it to update and show it was found by me, and to be displayed as a system that has been viewed/unlocked.

You can find a list of what each body is worth here:

http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Explorer

You get the first discovered tag as soon as you sell the data to a station, provided no one else has scanned it and sold the data first.

Hi OP, I'm not sure how you only made 22mil on your journey. Was that profit AFTER the cost of your ship etc as 500 neutron stars, even at the minimum payout of 38,000 should have netted you 19million alone. 22mil for a journey like that seems like an awfully low figure.

Exploration isn't exactly a high earner. What you make in an hour trading takes days exploring.

No, it doesn't compare to trading at all. But just doing simple maths adding up what the title of this thread is worth is about 22mil there alone and that's excluding the hundreds of other systems the OP had to explore.
