The Bounty Hunting & Bounties tips, and general discussion thread

Although it's perfectly true that you can wait out the timer in any of the other systems. The truth is, you can still operate in the system you are wanted in. Use your piloting skills to avoid security. There are a number of ways for an experienced pilot to maintain there preferred activities while wanted.

A week might be a bit much.
But come on, grow some balls.
It's insanely easy to enter and exit stations where u are wanted. Especially to exit......
I even sleep over, in the system I farm merits in. And that's only 600k bounty on my head. It's cake to dock at the local station. And with less than a hour search. I have 5 systems, with res sites, within 3 jumps. Around where I stay as a home atm...

True. Or alternatively grab a sidey and let the feds take you out.

Ok I shot a NPC and because it was a Eagle on stupidly low health driving into my beams I destroyed it with my Vulture. 6600 bounty I can live with that so I go to pay it off not only to find that is no longer possible but 6 DAYS I cannot get to my ships without sacrificing and I cannot use my main ships in the system in which because of time limits I spend lots of my time in.

That time limit is absolutely bonkers for one ship death and yes it was an accident. CHANGE IT!

I have some time off, so it looks I have to go back to TK hell in World of.... all because of one small incident. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

A Pretty Peeved off Beta Test Player....

I think it should be longer....like a month....

You MURDERED an inocent freedom fighter trying to protect his home system from pirates... And you got 6 days bounty as a penalty... Just think of his NPC wife and children!

A quite calm Alpha test player who is going a little strange from exploring too much (at least the what my cat tells me...)

Oh Kallipar. I wouldn't rly call myself a pirate (well a bit I guess) I farm merits as a "pirate" for PP(and that more warfare I guess again) since it gives 15 merits pr kill. So with minimal play, I can Keep Rank 4.
Otherwise, I'm the noble Empire Knight. Killing pirates and most wanted, sweeping res sites for bad guys.
I really know that feeling u got, tomorrow i can finally return to my favorite system again, after a *cough* murder *cough* accident... Honestly thought he was wanted......... But that lead me to discover other nearby systems with even nicer res sites, and even close stations.

I got a 200 Cr bounty for the random accidental shooting of an innocent in a RES and had to high tail it out of there pronto as the feds were all over me. On the way back to the station (thought I'd sneak in) I was interdicted by a wing of 2 due to the attractiveness of this sizeable bounty. I therefore deliberately decided to murder them both for the inconvenience (I'm in a Vulture) thus earning me a 15k+ 7 day bounty. Fairs fair I thought and went a couple of systems along and found a nice new station and RES to play in. Makes me more careful although still quite murderous. I did get another 200Cr bounty later but it only lasted 8mins :)

There's a lot of systems. Go play - or not. I enjoyed my bounty.

Lol, I have over a bounty of over 2.5 million in Imperial space and it goes up every time I kill another Imperial courier or security ship in my quest to gain rating 5 in power play. I regularly dock at the Imperial station in the system I am attacking in despite being wanted and hostile...just don't hang around when docking...if you get scanned too far out from the postal slot you will pay the price...boost in to within 3km and dock quickly for the win. :D

Oh, and make sure you have engines set to max and boost out when leaving...they will be waiting for you so a quick exit to FSD is required ;)

Note: I have never seen an NPC complain on the forums....check my OP!

Sorry but I don't understand. What do NPC complains concern with what I wrote? I wanted to say that in one's opinion when he is the killer 6 days are too much but when he is killed by another player the same six days are too little for the other killer.

It's about opposite points of view.

Did you get it now or need a sketch? :)

RULE # 1 - NEVER play in your own backyard.

It is really simple, if you don't want to be barred from your home base, don't do anything in that system. Do all your kills, your pirating, your smuggling, all your illegal activities in neighboring systems - at least that way you have a home to go to.

OP - no sympathy, this system has been in play for a while now, grow a couple of coconuts and stop whinging

a) in my opinion 1 week is a bit short. 2 weeks more like it.
b) exiting a station without getting detected (if station is not hostile) is ridiculously easy. all pips to engines, boost as soon as you exit, keep boosting
variations include using silent running and dropping heat sinks
c) entering a station with WANTED status is not difficult in a vulture.

A whole week? Life is so hard for you!!!

Be thankful it's not permanent with jailtime in the prison barge.

I think you just need to suck it up OP. You killed someone illegally. Instead of crying, wear the wanted tag with pride. Sneaking into stations isn't hard. Or you know , you could go one (just one) jump to the next system for 6 days. I don't understand why people act like it's the end of the world when they get a bounty on their head, because it's really not. It's not like it's difficult to leave a station without being scanned. It's not hard to evade interdictions either.

Adapt and overcome.

Or have it your way and just give up.

Doesn't make a lick of difference to me (or anyone else but you for that matter).

Firstly my ships are parked at that location and I am not about to leave the station with very angry station ships ready to shoot me at the cost of a lot of credits. Also I do not have a lot of time so I usually go to a RES or Beacon with my fighters. So 6 DAYS is STUPID FACE PALM etc. its a game breaker its simply too long for one kill.

It's pretty is to land and take off without even being attacked in a system you are wanted in. I don't even d9 anything special I just dock and exist as quickly as possible which is what I do even when not wanted. As for interdictions, the vulture is an amazing pew pew ship, anytime I'm interdicted by NPCs I'm deployed and firing before they can even start shooting and then they are destroyed shortly thereafter. Of course since it's your home system running is just as viable option.

I distributed my ship storage locations for exactly this reason. It took a lot of Sidewinders. :(

Don't forget to use locations that are *not* allied with your faction, so a bad rep with your home faction does not lock you out, as well.

Yup! I do that myself. But I must say my bounty, from several systems, is no where close to yours. Looks like I need to step up my game. Sorry Winters, gotta kill much more of your peeps. :D

You let a little thing like a bounty stop you from playing?
To me its a mere inconvenience. I still fly around in Wanted space. The only thing I generally don't do it dock within that system.

In reality, actual practice, being wanted in a system is no real barrier to anything. Not even docking at patrolled stations. I am a mediocre pilot at best, and I have succeeded. Use your experience, and savvy to avoid the worse. Getting that 'Conda out of stir is not 'Mission Impossible'. Challenge yourself, rather than the Dev'a. Show some Sidewinder pride.

All of that doesn't even matter if you can control your fire. Blame it on the bot, but you're the one with the brain out there, you should be able to outwit a shieldless Eagle....

Hilarious thread, thanks for the laughs, and I have a realy simple solution!

Learn now to sneak in and out of stations unscanned. It's really not hard, and is good exciting fun.

As a bonus, after you've learned this skill you can start picking up those smuggling missions you'd been avoiding.

Or not, and keep giving me a good laugh.

:D

Thanks dc83 for reading my post and also thanks guys for all the trolling, though I think it is with less 'troll heat' than I see on many threads ;) There are couple of other things, until this week I have have very little time to play this game since 1.3 became live hence all of my ships being in the same place.

I was also unaware of the stupidity of the new rules which for a SINGLE non commander kill gives you a prolonged unnecessary bounty. Rules which also state that your bounty goes dormant if you are killed, but if its not detected! then becomes active again for ANOTHER 7 Days.

And yes I do know how to sneak into a station and also know how to fly to a platform to dock if I have a bounty :)
