Didn't it get reported in February that Frontier had trademarked "Elite: Deadly"? That'd be my guess, whatever it turns out to be. Maybe a stand-alone version of CQC?

Though I hope not.

Might be possible that it was one of ideas thrown around. It's a practice to secure trade marks even if they don't plan to use them.

It still might be name of first expansion, which will be sold as separate product.

I must have missed that .. can you please post a link, and even then, is this possibly a J. J. Abrams - "No Khan isn't in the movie" Job.

When will we be able to walk on our ships?

We have nothing to announce on this one, now or at Gamescom. Walking around on ships is in our plans, for sure, but it’s a very long way off.

No reason for Frontier to mislead us on this, it would break the trust they are trying to build with the community. It's also a very direct answer to a very direct question.

We can probably rule out anything Powerplay related, as based on their answers in Q&A they overall seem happy with how it's set up, aside from some investigation into better player comms & collaboration. Though, I don't think anything Powerplay related would qualify as a "major" announcement for the conference.

And it won't be Floating, Running, Surfing, Skiing, Soliciting around your ships either in case you were going to speculate on that.

If it was going to be Planetary landings... I would be over the moon, quite literally, but it wont.

I'd say there's a pretty good chance it could be a first demonstration of a planetary landing, even if it's just an unhabitted planet. They said this would be coming around 1 year after release right?

You can already see weather, real peaks on them from space - it's all real. It's just off limits because it didn't have detail once getting down to the planets. Maybe something is ready to show us by now?

Btw - I know it's 5 months away, but why not get the hype training moving now.

I seem to remember in beta someone flew through a planet by doing an emergency drop and proceeding in normal space all the way to the surface. Looked pretty good already at that point has anyone tried it recently?

Alien life should not be announced. It should be discovered. Once discovered Frontier Developments should deny any knowledge of it.

I've tried doing that however you go so slow when you get close to that thing you could be there awhile.

well it would make sense since the company already promised they would not dumb down the console version of elite dangerous.

I'm 90% sure Gamescom announcement will be about Planetary Landings. Atleast i hope so (would perfectly happy with tier 2 NPCs too, but doubt there is big enough PR value).

But there is always that 10% doubt.
For example, we know that in LaveCon they said:
More support for player groups 'Soon'. Watch the gamescom news.
and in Devs answers #2 thread they said:
I think everyone here would love to see a battle around a large station. Is that not in the game for technical reasons (eg the AI keeps on crashing into the station) or artistic/gameplay reasons?

(From Michael Brookes) This is something we’re looking into changing – more details in the near future – or soon
Maybe related?

Probably not. Doesn't connect with "It’s something we’ve be building to for a long time" line.

btw less than 2 weeks to Gamescom. :)
