Is it safe to work around Leesti and Lave?

The faction rep decays but not the ranks. Once you have top rank you have it..period.

There aren't any Alliance Ranks

I have the alioth permit, and I just want allied as I'm bored. I headed to leesti because of the action. I'm not leaving now that I know the odds. I'll play solo, learn in open, and just be chilled. Won't take long anyway

All minor factions at Irkutsk are Alliance factions. Doing any missions from there will get you to Allied rather quickly.

I've just spent a week in leesti. Had to run a few times. There's no way I could take on three pythons in a vulture. But it was good experience having so many commanders around. All it means is you have to keep your wits about you. Saw some pretty cowardly actions too though, like a cmdr waiting before my shields were down while I was fighting an anaconda until he decided to pick sides and attack me. Not that I'm complaining about that BTW. Its not called elite easy. I guess I just prefer not to fight other cmdrs unless I'm forced to

Except they're not pirates. They're filthy rich players in A-rated big ships who just kill whatever they can find. Regular piracy in the Lave cluster is dead, thanks to FD, really.

Sounds like a state of war! Have they declared war? Or is this guerrilla tactics?

I'd say that, sadly, real piracy is dead / in pretty bad shape in ED...
I have never encountered an actual "pirate", only dozens of "psychos". Being a "psycho" is a legitimate way to play the game? Fine. Maybe it's time for FDev to acknowledge this in the game, declare the worst offending systems as anarchy and losing their alliance/federation/empire affiliation since those powers are completely unable to police these systems in any realistic manner.

If trucks on some highway had some of their cargoes stolen it'd warrant a police investigation, if a bunch of rebels parked tanks in the middle of that highway and shot at everything that moved killing thousands it'd result in military action and disproportionate response. That or the government would admit it lost control of that area and cede any claim of authority to that territory.

I was in the area yesterday and got destroyed outside a starport by a psycho rammer in a clipper. I was in a clipper too, but with lightweight armor and D7 shields, so...
He laughed about his boost speed before making the final run, rubbing the whole affair in my face. I may be pledged to Aisling, but I wasn't there to undermine, or I'd have had a bounty. I was there to pick up rare goods, and lost 50 of them to that crankhead.
I actually saw him ramming a D-back scout earlier, which came back out of the starport later, upon which he rammed it again. I don't think that guy was what you could call a "pirate." More of a "psycho," as veryinky said. If you go to that area, be very fast, very well shielded, and very paranoid. If anyone is doing anything besides traveling from point A to point B - RUN!!!
I just wish the local authorities were more competent. Ramming people in a no-fire zone should bring bounties, even if they are tagged as hostile by Powerplay.

Well, you can blame FD about that for sticking on your face "hostile" (AKA can be legally killed by anybody from the Power controlling the area).

Rammers were exploiting the fact that no bounty was inflicted previously, which made FD take the right decision to add the mechanism.
Now they are doing the same with the "hostile" flag.
In a way, they are helping improving the game here...though iI'm afraid FD will answer that "it works as intended" (same reason as why Power NPCs interdict and open fire at traders in their area, because they show "hostile).

PS: By the way, instead of ramming, he could have simply used his weapons and simply ending up with a 400cr fine...

Got interdicted in Lave tonight by a Cmdr who took my hull down to 1% then said "Don't forget to visit Mike's ship repair" and (presumably) let me go.

I fly an Asp, he was in an Imperial Clipper with all the guns, my cause not helped by managing to cancel two FSD charges by spamming the wrong button in my panic.

It's a very peculiar sort of trolling.

What FD should do is keep the "hostile" tag off UNTIL you do undermining, then slap it on. That would guarantee more safety for trading fellas like myself. Powerplay has massive potential, but a few of its features are spotty and need work. It has the look of something that was rushed to a deadline. (i should know - I'm an indie developer...)
Oh well. There really aren't any games equal to ED, so this is what we got, and overall, I am very happy with it. I considered playing solo mode for a while until the rage from getting rammed faded, but no. Open is why the game was made, so that's where I'll play.

P.S. Your avatar picture makes me feel very depressed. :p
P.P.S. Am I the only nice clipper pilot who goes outside the Empire? All the clipper pilots I've met outside the Empire have been so mean I can't describe them without breaking the Second Commandment!

In the spirit of "Write your own story!", FDev should change the Imperial Clipper's description.

In theory, the Imperial Clipper was the quintessential Imperial ship. It epitomized elegance of form while delivering speed and agility. Unfortunately psychopaths have taken a shine to the Clipper and claimed it as their own, using it's superior firepower to destroy any and all targets they can and using it's superior speed to run run from the ones they can't. When you see a Clipper on the radar, stay clear as it is most likely operated by a mass murderer. Gutamaya sees this turn of events as a public relations disaster and is trying to distance itself from the design.

Hey I love my clipper and I'm nice to everyone (unless you started it) I mainly use mine for expensive good transporting. If I'm attacked I will usually try to talk it out by trading cargo for fuel or ask for him to escort me to my destination for half of what I'm carrying. I only kill the A.I. and players who are psyco.

Leesti has been completely empty of commanders for hours now, instancing issues? People got bored? Everyone winged up there?

It's okay guys, Lave cluster is safe, get rid of your shields, get rid of your weapons, put on em' cargo racks and haul as much Panite as possible!
